Morning tithe...can't wait for my 'Boys game later today.

Off to go sledding with the Chickenboy juniors and associated hangers on beforehand, if you can believe that nonsense. Today's high will be -2F with a wind chill of -15F. Perfect day at the park.

66 here now, heading up to 71 with a chance of thunderstorms later. Have no fear, I have plenty of short pants and tshirts available to stay cool.

Whew! Glad you let me know, lest I be fearful of your lack of T-shirts / shorts.

Well, it is going into single digits for lows later this week, so I expect, before too long, USS Mike that you will cool down a little.

Yeah, Thursday looks a bit nippy, with a high of 28.

Got back from sledding with the kids and one of their friends a bit ago. Colder than I thought @ -25 with a brisk wind. Still enjoyable. Several breaks in a warm van with some hot cocoa helped to muster their enthusiasm. Still-we could only take about an hour of that, but I got my Minnesota badge of honor for sledding when it's -25F out.

Oh, that badge of honor for sledding when it's -25F out? It comes with a nice frontal lobotomy.

At least you didn't have to worry about the snow getting slushy on you and slowing the sleds down!

I hope you both feel better soon, Leo! The influenza has been particularly nasty in the US this year.

Some good stuff on this page:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:LucasVB/Gallery

For example:

quote:

Schematic animation of a continuous beam of light being dispersed by a prism. The white beam represents many wavelengths of visible light, of which 7 are shown, as they travel through a vacuum with equal speeds c. The prism causes the light to slow down, which bends its path by the process of refraction. This effect occurs more strongly in the shorter wavelengths (violet end) than in the longer wavelengths (red end), thereby dispersing the constituents. As exiting the prism, each component returns to the same original speed and is refracted again.

True dat. When it's this cold, the snow squeaks and groans when you step on it, rather than smooshing down.

I sure remember that! Sounds like you're walking on Styrofoam more than snow!

I really felt sorry for my coworker. Last night he was walking in shorts on a beach in Florida. Then he got on a plane...was a balmy 2 degrees here today.
