Turn file back... News is not good for the Concord...

My guess is a 33% chance of making it to Dutch, then, if the fires can be put out, a long time at dock to fix the Sys enough to get her back to Seattle.

The Concord didn't make it. She was 1/2 a day out of Dutch when the fires became too much.

Damn.

Carriers are stayin put, but might move NW this turn. A force is moving SW out of Rabaul, and the KB has moved back to the DEI to replenish...or so she appears to. This could be an opportunity to strike that force if he heads for the Milne Bay area...

I didn't move them this turn, but have mentioned to Harvey and Mike we want to consider it this turn...

Harvey and I do have a sizable CA/CL force in the area with a mix of DDs for support. If the force is heavily escorted, hopefully the carriers would soften them up.

Just waiting for the right time to strike..

Ill have some time tonight to update Aces, Aircraft losses, Victory screen, game screenshots, ship losses and all of that jazz.

Basically they're at Darwin, Horn Isl, Rabaul in SWPAC/SOPAC. Singapore is about to fall, but Harvey is holding out. They have Palembang, Kendari, Ambon, (most of the early December landings) and Koenpeing (spelling (Don't hang me GreyJoy). Port Blair has been bombed heavily for a lot of turns and seems to be their stepping stone to India.

Mike continues to make the best use of his forces/supplies in China. The AVG has forced Japan to commit planes that could be used elsewhere. He has tied up a lot of Jap forces at Ichang from day one, and all they have done is bombard.

Harvey has done an outstanding job with his forces in the DEI, especially his naval forces.

After this turn, we should have 1100+ or so AV at Clark, level 3 forts with 13k supply at Bataan, and 600 or so AV at Manila. Supply has been bombed almost from day one there, and there isn't much left. 2500 or so each place or less. Langely is still heading east for Midway..like to see her make it.

Our subs seem to be well placed and have had a lot of shots from the beginning.

Current location of Japanese TF south of Rabaul. We feel like this is destined for Milne Bay for invasion. Our plan is to intercept this TF with the Enterpise, Saratoga, and Lexington TFs. There are also two SCTFs in the area to pick up cripples after the planes soften them up a little. Here is a screen shot of the Rabaul/Milne Bay area:

Here is the screen shot just south of there where our forces are located and the plan for their moves over the next two days.

It should also be noted that the Yorktown group is still three days away, just NW of Suva.

No but they're there. Remember the SAG action when we ran into BBs with our CA/CL force in our attempt to bombard the AF at night? They attacked the dmg ships all of the way home, but only with bombs. The last big supply convoys there would surely have dropped an HQ off by now though. Were staying out of ext Zero range....so, bring it on! CVs are offensive weapons anyway..

I mean...using them as an offensive weapon when enemy CVs are not around is an early game good tactic correct?

When you wanting to start that Campaign Series PBEM?

I'm kind of excited, haven't played it heavily for a while. Had a fun GCanal one going here last year..

I have always been fond of the Omaha Class CLs for some reason... they're great ships to put 3-4 DDs with and raid, as they're a fast ship with good manuever raitings to run from air attack, and punch enough fire to handle unescorted fleets.

I'm following with great interest.
The discussions about supplies, the for and against of different ways to employ your units, etc. are a great help to a new player like me.

With Singapore down and a bunch of IJA forces released for other operations, it will be interesting to see where they go. Java or India? With little or no action in the SoPac, look for continued ops in NW/W Australia, a move on NE India and an invasion of Java.

Question was the Horn Island move offensive or defensive? Possibility of Singapore forces heading into NE Australia.

Also, have to watch airframes. The last turn I lost 11 Hurricanes to 1 Oscar. Ouch.

It appears the TF south of Rabaul went to Gasmata. Still, need to keep an eye there. Will be able to see more once we get the turn.

I suspect Gasmata will lend air support (fighter base?) for an operation toward Milne Bay.

My January 31st orders:

CHINA:
9 units trying to cut off Loyang. Moving units to escape the trap.
AVG/2nd Sqn will have 19 aircraft tomorrow. This will finish off the H81-A3 airframes.
AVG/1st Sqn at Sian set to LCAP with no destination, should allow them to respond to anything in the area.

NOPAC:
Crosby is still fighting fires, so can’t put her up for some repairs before shipping off. Took the other three down to pierside repairs. One will be done in 7 days, the others at 13 and 17 days.
No other activity from Attu. Will extend search range of PBY’s.Split group, 2 aircraft designated to recon Attu, the rest will search out to max range on each side of Attu to see if anything is there.

USA:
Looks like Harvey is loading his ships with what he needs, no need for me to mess with that.
427th AA Bn packing up and moving to San Fran.
The 754th Tank Bn at San Fran needs a target.
810th EAB and 1st USMC AirWing loading at San Fran for delivery to Noumea via Pearl and Pago Pago.
SS Grenadier arrived at LA, changed captain who only had a 26 aggress, to WG Chapple with a Navel of 72 and an Aggress of 74. Should work better! Sent to Pearl.

SOPAC:
Sending California and Tennessee back to Pearl with a DD escort for upgrades to increase their durability and double their AAA rating. 12 days to Pearl. 60 days in the yards.
Were did you want the AVP Heron to go at Pearl? I am thinking Midway, it will allow us to base a full squadron of land aircraft there with it supporting 6 patrol aircraft. I will leave that for Jeff to figure out what to do.
Adjusted TF440 to transport so TF410 can merge with it.
TFs 316, 441, and 396 are all merging NW of Penrhyn Is. For movement onto the West Coast.
CS convoys moving resources out of Tasmania, NZ, and Noumea are working as planned.
What to do with the CVs? I say keep them where they are waiting on future developments.
Setting the Yorktown TF to follow TF128 to join up with the other three.

I'll shoot Jeff a couple of PDF planning maps. I took all the deep ocean hexes and changed to white. If you guys would like any other theatres scaled up I have it in AutoCAD. Feel free to share them with the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

Yup, at least nothing bad happened. Maybe that is what he means.

Any day until the invasion bonus is gone in April that Japan is not romping and stomping is a good day...
