As for the CA/CL upgrades they are all superstructure work and can be done pierside without taking up shipyard space.

I thought all upgrades HAD to be in a shipyard repair status only and some had required port level. The last part I was always aware of...being able to do it in pier side I wasn't. Sounds dumb, I know. Shame on me.

Turn back to us to do tonight. Sending CV planes on an airfield attack to Horn Isl. Harvey's bombardment run revealed planes still there. AF is shutdown, so it's free game.

Both SAGs are returning to Towsnville (CLs) and Brisbane (CAs) to rearm, then head back.

Humphrey's converted to APD in Sydney... on...wait for it..pier side.. TADA!!

Sortied a few subs that were in base...

CVs moved one hex NW to be within Devestator range, but still LRCAPing Port Moresby 40%. They're set to bomb Horn at 10k.

I will need to look amongst those two groups, and determine which CAs/CLs have a 3/42 upgrade that they can undergo now that they're on their way back to port.

Look at this chart:

As you can see the Northampton classes are overdue and have a good AAA and Radar upgrade. But, they have to be taken out of bombardment duties for 21 days. Maybe wait until the BBs and AKEs get there to relieve them. They could then go to Brisbane and spend their 21 days there and be ready for more.

The next would be the Brooklyn CLs and the Portland CAs in April once the Northamptons are done.

14 MAR 42

CONUS:

Replaced P40Es with P400s at Eastern USA from 58th PG/68th PS. This is 27 more P40E airframes available to us to use.

DD Hatfield removed from Pearl Harbor Fuel Shuttle and replaced with DD Gwin. Hatfield put into shipyard to convert to APD.

APD Little sent to Balboa to escort ships to LA.

CANAL ZONE:

AS Griffin finishing loading, will be enroute to Pago Pago shortly.

APD and 2xxAK formed up and sent to LA, nothing coming into Balboa/Cristobal in nearly a month.

NOPAC:

34th Inf Rgt 7 days from Dutch. This should secure this base. The airfield is slowly building�

CENTPAC:

Supply TF at Palmyra cancels unload and sent to Canton Is to unload there to make sure enough supplies are there to equip the Recon aircraft with droptanks in a week or so.

SOPAC:

A fast Replenishment TF has arrived at Pago Pago, topping it off and it will be on the way to south of Noumea with 44850 in fuel. Should arrive on station for deployment into the Coral Sea in five days.

We have nearly 400 Engineer construction capacity at Pago Pago and 240 Aviation support. Pago Pago is just about built out. We need to start thinking about where we want to send them next. Luganville? Or further up the chain? I need to start pulling lift assets together now to make sure they are ready in a couple of weeks to make the move.

ANZAC:

NZ unit transport TF sent back to Pago Pago in anticipation of the need mentioned above.

CHINA:

Some shifting of units in the south to adjust to the axis of attack by the Japanese towards Kanhsien.

Moved 1st AVG to Kanhsien (only 17 P40Es). Set to 60/40 LRCAP/REST at range 5. Will see how this supports the defense of this area. Most likely, will only get one day of use, then Kanhsien will be bombed until unable to be used.

RUSSIA:

102nd Combat Eng arrives at San Francisco, loaded and sent to Pago Pago. Sixteen days to get there.

CANAL ZONE:

NOPAC:

VP-41 takes some Catalina replacements. Need to keep a good eye on Attu and its area.

CENTPAC:

SS Seawolf put into the shipyard for repairs, done in six days.

SOPAC

VP-42 gets four PBY-5 Catalinas and two patrol pilots at Luganville. Four more are needed to fill it out.

AVD disbanded at Ndeni to give us 6 Seaplane capability there. One more AVD sent from Luganville to Ndeni to join it so a whole squadron of seaplanes can be based there. This gives us another seven hexes of visibility towards where the monsters are!

ANZAC:

CONUS:

TF arrives at LA, loading with 83k supplies for Sydney, 30 day trip.

CANAL ZONE:

SS Grouper arrives at Balboa, CE Duke only has a 27 Aggress, replaced him with DC White, who has a 66 Naval and 68 Aggress for 3 PP. Sent to Pearl for upgrade and assignment. The upgrade is due in April and it is going to take that much time for the Grouper to get there. It adds radar.

NOPAC:

Nothing to do here.

CENTPAC:

Added Pilots to 11BG to fill out the squadrons. Waiting on some more LB-30s to replace the other B17s in the HQSqn.

SOPAC:

2xAVD at Ndeni, moving VP-24 there and adjusting search arcs for both this squadron and VP-42 to get more complete coverage of the Soloman Islands and the Eastern Coral Sea.

Moving New Caledonia Det (AV27) to Koumac to cover that base. Americal has Noumea covered for now.

ANZAC:

DD Barker set to convert to APD at Sydney.

Set Enterprise to upgrade at the end of the month while being repaired. Should not add much time as it is only a 7 day upgrade. Once Enterprise is done in 40 or so days the USN will have more fleet carriers than the Japanese in April of 1942� :D

Set up CA Lousivlle (worst damaged CA at Brisbane) and DD Lamson to go to Melbourne to be repaired there. It�s shipyard can hold 10k tons and is perfect for repairing a CA and we are not using it. It is only a two day trip there. Jeff, if you don�t want that to happen just disband TF166 at Brisbane.

CHINA:

Japanese are pushing in the south of China as expected. Layered defense in good terrain set, just waiting on them.

RUSSIA:

Nothing to do here.

TF 321 arrives on map from the Canal Zone. Set to use LA as a waypoint and set up a pick up of 2xAP and an AV there for movement and eventual deposit at San Francisco.

TF 392 is two days from Pearl with the Recon aircraft.

Sydney is going to need to have TFs shuffled around to off load over the next week or so as it will be overloaded.

Set SS Greyling at Sydney to pierside repair. She needs to be in the shipyard, but Big E has priority. After three days we can send her to Melborne.

Five of the Big Es DDs have come out of refit at Sydney. Jeff, you may want to send them north to your three carriers for escorts while the Big E is still in drydock for another 39 days.

CA Louisville and her escort will be disbanded in Melbourne for repairs next turn.

CONUS:

VS-5D14 arrives at Alameda, it is float planes, but they can upgrade to DBs. Setting it to train Naval Attack so we can upgrade it later when we have airframes to do so. There is another squadron training here for Naval Search. When they get high enough search (60-70) will switch to Naval attack and do the reverse for VS-5D14. This will make not only good dive bomber pilots but also good search pilots.

CANAL ZONE:

CENTPAC:

Canton Island supplies unloading for aircraft transfer.

CONUS:

ACMs Birch and Chimo sent to Pearl Harbor for distribution to other ports to maintain the minefields we have. All the CONUS ports are covered already.

Setup TF62 (56340 Fuel) as a CS from LA to Pago Pago to shuttle fuel. One month round trip. Should keep fuel in SOPAC.

Setup TF107 (32000 Supplies) as a CS from LA to Pago Pago to shuttle supplies. 40 day round trip.

Converted 2 xAKs Pacific Class (3200 ton) to xAP (1000 troop/1200 cargo) at LA. They will be ready in 24 days to help move things around at the smaller islands.

TF111 loads 7th Marine and is shipping to Lunga, via Pearl Harbor and Pago Pago. It is 18 days to get to Lunga, not counting refueling. So, we need to decide if we want it to wait until the rest of 1st Marine arrives in 60 or so days on either Pearl or Pago Pago.

CANAL ZONE:

NOPAC:

CENTPAC:

SS Seawolf finishes repair at Pearl, assigned to Midway Island as base of operations, sent there. Should be available for assignment in 3-4 days.

Freed up three more B17E airframes at Pearl by making the 11th BG/HqSqn B18As, when three more LB-30s become available the 11th BG will be all LB-30.

SOPAC

BBs due into Noumea, move on to Townsville, arriving on the 25-26th.

TF 375 (44850 fuel in 3xAOs) is sent to Townsville, arriving on the 25-26th

F-4s arrive at Noumea, Harvey, take them next turn for where you want.

S-45 and S-47 sent to Brisbane from Pago Pago.

AM Chevruil escorts AS Futon and AD Dobbin to Townsville for use there in support of our efforts. Should take a week to get there.

AM Turkey escorts AS Pelias, AD Dixie, AR Medusa, and AR Vestal to Brisbane for use there in support of our efforts. Should take a little over a week to get there.

We have 2xAV and 2xAVD available to form more advance float plane bases. We need to keep them available to set them up as needed.

ANZAC:

3rd BG and 8th PG arrives at Sydney

The AKEs at Sydney are starting to load, but due to all the traffic in Sydney, they only load 800 supplies each. Will keep loading them until full, then send them to Townsville to be available to load the BBs coming online to bombard PM shortly.

Stripped the damaged escorts from the Lexington TF, set the ships due upgrade to upgrade.

CHINA:

2-3 more days and Chungking will make a level 7 airfield. This will support our air defense efforts here.

RUSSIA:

Three subs covering all possible routes through Torres Strait.

Hornet and Yorktown will meet 1 hex SE of Cooktown, to be ready to pounce on the force NE of Darwin that is heading SE....

Harvey - could you set up some patrols to cover the gap in air search east of Horn? Thanks.

I have plenty of SAGs ready to move into Port Moresby at minutes notice. Numerous CLs, CAs, and DDs...and two CVs of air cover.

Sending in small SAG to Tulagi during the night phase..even if it stays put in the day and doesn't retire (set to)...there are severe storms in the hex, so we should gain surprise and retire in the morning phase away from air attack.

Looking for some more action oriented turns in the Coral Sea area. Not going to use CVs in Tulagi area.. I was just sniffing this turn, still covering Port Moresby.

I've got your back Harvey. Keep sending as much men, planes, and supply to Port Moresby. We're keeping it.

Fairly quiet turn... I haven't seen it, but Mike mentioned it was a quiet turn.

TF at Tulagi ran away as my CL and DDs showed up.. figures. They were loaded though..oh well.

Depending on the TF NE of Darwin, we should see some action in the Coral Sea again in a few turns.

It appears we have sent some rather large equipment (radars and 155mm CD guns) to Luganville with only a level one port. The port is growing rapidly and these TFs will linger here until the port is large enough to handle the devices. More ENGs are moving that direction and that will accelerate the process.

Jeff, you have Vincennes and 2xDD arriving on station in the Eastern Coral Sea (TF303 just north of Noumea)

Harvey, your two Recon Units are at Noumea. Both suffered some damage on the last hop and are repairing. ETA for one is two days, the other is seven. You may want to take what is ready and start using it.

ANZAC:

Most of the backlog at Sydney is relieved, formed up the four AKEs added two local escorts, docked the TF and set it to load supplies then off to Townsville with the TF to deliver the AKEs there. The two local escorts will return to Sydney.

CHINA:

Minor adjustments to units here.

CONUS:

137th BF arrives at San Francisco, going to use the QE before we lose her to withdrawal. This unit will fully load on her and in 10 days be in Sydney for Harvey to use in Australia.

9th Marine Rgt arrives at San Diego, will sit here until the rest of its division until the rest of the 3rd Marine Division arrives over the next 185 days.

2nd Marine Rgt � we need to buy this out at 318 PP, then set it to take replacements so it can then move to the SW Pacific for use there as part of the 2nd Marine Division.

CANAL ZONE:

NOPAC:

TF 114 is taking another 10k supplies from Seattle to Seward.

CENTPAC:

The four BBs at Pearl will be ready in two weeks with the upgrades.

Seadragon and Tuna are at Midway and we need to start rotating these boats for upgrades. They don�t need a repair shipyard to do so, so just setting them to Yes and disbanding them at Midway.

SOPAC

DD Kilty detached from its Transport TF, DMS Hovey is put in to escort as its support TF will disband. Kilty is enroute to Brisbane to upgrade to APD in two days.

ANZAC:

Put all the CAs that were in Sydney on Pier Side repair, this will fix all of them in 2-9 days and we should know by then if they will be needed around PM before we commit them to 18-21 day upgrades. This does not take away from the 30 days left for the Enterprise.

At Brisbane moved the Permit and the Henley into the Shipyard with the Detroit. This will put the yard at nearly 100% capacity and fix three ships at once. The Henley will only take one day and then rotate out with the Mustin, then the Ralph Tabot, and finally the Mugford. By that time the Permit should be done and the Detroit will almost be done. Then the St. Louis can move into the yard and finish its engine repairs.

CHINA:

The air force in China, without replacements will not be able to compete, this is not a complaint, but a statement of fact. It is a way of life for the Chinese�

RUSSIA:

Nothing to do here.

March 27th, 1942

We have noticed increased enemy shipping and action in the Port Moresby area. We decided a long time again to keep it, and commit our ground, air, and sea assets to making sure that happens. A couple of months back, in the initial invasion of Port Moresby, USN CVs met, and sank 3 Japanese CVs at the loss of 1 US CV and 1 CA. They have also committed to taking Port Moresby as CVs and and at least two invasion forces are spotted in the Torres Strait and west of Horn Island. Horn Island's AF has been shut down for a couple of weeks, and we can safely operate naval assets in the area...Hartwig is also marching forces over the Owen Stanleys....I know the forum is divided over this tactic, but it doesn't bother me at all to be honest..

Three CVs are now in position to hit the CVs/invasion force coming through Horn Island. Not sure what the first group going through is, but it shows five ships and is 8 hexes from Port Moresby. It moved to be in within 5 hexes from Torres Strait to hit the CV and Invasion force west of Horn Isl, and within striking distance to Port Moresby approaches. I also sent in the SAG of 1CA,2CL,DDs to arrive during the night at Port Moresby. Should be able to throw something back at that force, or even turn it away for easy pickings during the day from the air...that SAG in PM could also distract their CVs and draw their attack away fromt he CVs into your CAP at PM, while our three CVs strike home. Nothing else to do by throw our forces into the fire.

Hadn't checked that list in a while, when did it bump up to four CVs sunk? I don't think that is right. I am pretty sure we hit three of them and the CS last battle, but either way. Even if we go one for one the Japanese CV power will be gone.

Now, just waiting on them to process...
