Air losses. The Hellcat losses were in misguided ship attacks defended by obviously elite pilots on CAP.

You need a "Cone of Sanitation" to take care of that problem. Maybe 99 (NO - not Wayne Gretsky - the pretty one) can type for you and work your mouse.

The pace here will pick up again when the Hankow defenders are overcome, and even more when Shanghai is cleared. That last will take a while because of the defenses and because Chinese Army units will be doing the great majority of the lifting with their lack of heavy weapons.

Home Islands west. The armored units advancing out of Kochi have made contact with the ex-defenders. The infantry and artillery is moving as expected and should arrive in two days. SoPac Command HQ is mostly unloaded. The size 3 port is 100% damaged so everything happens slowly. Tonight the first transport convoy with support units will arrive, but after daybreak an amphibious convoy with support units - some engineers and some port types - will arrive and should help speed up unloading and repairs. All of the known mine fields have been cleared from Kochi harbor. There were some night combats again, some night air raids, and plenty of daytime air raids. Bloody submarines!

Air losses. Ordered sweeps ahead of anticipated anit-shipping strikes but they didn't fly to target. And of course there was the air complement on board Long Island.

Will transport loaded TFs unload at all at a port that is 100% damaged? Can NS overcome the lack of a wharf?

I don't know for certain, but it should help. Naval support and shore party abstract things like lighters and small craft IIRC. But even after the port gets repaired the engineers along are needed. Virtually all the engineers are marching away to the next targets.

Are your troops getting ready for that excellent Kobe beef?

Or are the brass going to keep it for themselves?

A very nice performance from your armored cavalry units!

No preparations for Kobe landings. If/when we get there it will be overland. I figure them asking "where's the beef?" is good way to keep the troops motivated!

Our subs are conducting secret activities.

We have a number of warships heading into the yard for repairs and some for upgrades. There are lots of destroyers still to upgrade and I want to keep at least some upgrades rolling along. The needed repairs are already enough to make it prudent to not form convoys for Kumamoto just yet. Luckily there were few attack transports damaged badly enough to require repairs in the Kochi invasion, so allowing several days for many of the warship repairs and upgrades to get underway should be sufficient. That will also allow time for the air bases at Kochi, Tokara Retto, and Yakushima to build and be more of a factor when the Kumamoto invasion lands. We will also move PacAO from Daito Shoto to Yakushima where it will be much closer to assist the invasion it is prepared for. The airborne units ready for the Saishu To assault are being moved to Hangchow, where the airfield complex is being rapidly expanded to accommodate the mission.

Home Islands west. No surface combat today, but a number of night air raids on the fleet carriers. Lots of support units landed at Kochi, more underway. Lots of air support is now on site so we have moved in 60 Hellcat night fighter variants. Tonight's air raids are in for tougher flying. The first two groups of the NZ Corsairs have also flown in to take up short range daytime CAP. They are the F4U-1D model, with a service rating of 1.

Tokara Retto now sports a size 2 air base and two squadrons of P-47D25 have moved in to supplement the two P-47D2 squadrons.

At Clark Field it appears the Japs are still in supply from Manila. If you move one LCU from Clark to Manila that would cut them off (I think?) and then you should be able to wipe out the remaining enemy at Clark very quickly.

I can't move from Clark to Manila nor from Manila to Clark because both sides of that hex border are owned by Japan. His troops at Clark are getting a supply (-), so hopefully supplies available are a trickle.

Is the problem that you have to clear the enemy out of the Clark hex before you can move through that side? Effectively, they are a roadblock?
