I only have this game less than a week, and am slowly getting to grips with it and really enjoying it. I am sorry if this has been covered elsewhere, but it seems that one days worth of heavy action between two opposing CV groups leaves all the AA ammo used up. This means I now have to pull the TF to a port to resupply the AA ammo, or else risk facing waves of attacking aircraft with little or no AA ammo in the fleet. Is this realistic? Surely a CV group should be able to to have more ammo endurance than this.

Not sure, but I think a replenishment TF would restock your ammo as well as top off your fuel bunkers.:)

I can't say how much ammo these ships had IRL compared to what the game is modeling. But there were not any multiple day carrier battles in WWII that I can think of. They all were very sharp and short engagments.

As the Jap player, this can work to your advantage. The US has tons more AAA than the IJN. So hitting a TF on the second day is going to result in a lot less casualties. Since you know this is going to be the case, you can plan ahead to take advantage of it. If you have any Vals or Kates on the beach, then have them resting before the battle starts (you should assume that when you sortie your carriers their will be a battle). After the first day of the battle, depending on what you plane casualties look like, you can fly these rested formation onto the carriers to give you a fresh group to attack with. The lower amount of Flak, combined with their lessened exhaustion should yeild excellent results. Go chase those suckers down! :D

Thanks guys, I had not thought of the fleet replenishment option, and I see another thread close by with advice about how to carry it out! Certainly some of the war film footage shows vast amounts of flak in the skies during air attacks, so I guess the AA ammo was expended at a great rate.

As far as Im aware, the only place you can restock ammo, is at port.

I had the same problem. AA ammo is not replaced by contact with a replenishment TF. You have to enter the port and press the refuel TF button.
