So is that the official response from Matrix?

All Mr. Cooney or Obsolete had to do was say that they are working on a patch. How hard is it to post once every couple of months. Check out the Flashpoint Germany thread about what's going on. Every once and awhile Capn Darwin posts, and lets us know the game is still being developed, "Flashpoint Middle East."

So this begs the question, do we keep complaining? I need a consensus from the team.

Aaah, the good ol' days Its was fun!

I think your all celebrating way to early here.

Didn't someone drop in in Aug then disappear.

All I can say is DON'T HOLD YOUR BREATH.

Two questions, gentlemen:

1. What is the 'withdrawal bug'?

2. Is the game worth purchasing in its current state?  I am seeking a new hex 'n counter game and this one intruiges me -- would love to give it a whirl if it's solid enough.

Until I see something definite (i.e. a patch that this time actually fixes the withdrawal bug) I would tend to agree.

We were all thanking the developers for turning up briefly six months ago.

Also we haven't heard anything from Mike Cooney even though he apparently got a phone call from Tim Coakley two days ago.

1. The withdrawal bug is basically the fact that withdrawal after combat either as a result of combat (which would be a bonus to the attacker) or when ordered by the defender doesn't happen either as described in the rules manual or as common sense would lead you to expect. This results in some but not all combats fixing both attacker and defender in a fight to the death as neither side (or dependant on circumstances one or other side) will or can retreat - you will see a combat result of Withdrawal come up but the "withdrawing" unit just sits there. Why it is happening like this caused and is still causing months of debate and head scratching among us players because the developers didn't respond to our questions, only posted on the forum c4 months after the release of the game (after a previous customer campaign) and then disappeared again after 2-3 weeks and a handful of posts.

2. NO - if it is successfully patched then definitely yes.

According to a review I just read, the game is realistic in that withdrawals are a common result, rather than unit kills -- as in reality. So this bug would seem to cripple the game on one of its key features. And the developers have ignored it for months? Was it broken since release or did the latest patch break it?

Cherryfunk, broken since release, and still broke since patch. That is the major bug, with some minor ones that aren't game stoppers.

I agree with Wolfe, I can't recommend the game at this time. Wait for the patch, and support from the developer.

Wodin,

You may be correct, but I don't think Matrix wants us screaming all over the Internet reminding them of their 2011 Take Charge Award. We have been polite, respectful, and a little playful, but not in my mind in any way over the top.

I can be gracious for the moment, and very annoying after that. I think I'm already approaching that point. We of the CCME Forgotten Few, will never withdraw as Wolfe so eloquently stated.

Before Tim responded, I was just beginning to gear up our Operation Response. We of the Forgotten Few are waiting on Operation Patch. If that fails we can always gear backup Operation Response very rapidly. Rest assured it would become VERY ANNOYING after awhile. Principles, it's all about maintaining principles and good business ethics on the part of Matrix, which so far they have upheld their end of the bargain. Albeit slowly, but they did respond to their customers.

If the developer disappears again, that's fine, just keep the Forgotten Few in the loop, inform us, don't ignore us. I respect Matrix/Slitherine,and I would expect no less respect from them. Boku, at this point has a lot of damage control to do for Matrix and their customers. Yes I know it's just a game, but I have bought a bunch of games from Matrix, and I'm sure they want me to buy a bunch more. Ying and Yang.

So that we don't forget this thread, a little tracker of the time elapsed since Mike Cooney received a phone call asking for his input.

Currently D+4

Also it would nice to get this thread to Post 250 before we are done.

Looks like I've just done that
