My sub at Noumea spots transports escorted by destroyers, but misses. Destroyers sight a US submarine hanging around Bataan, that's the second in two days.

A massive resupply convoy on its way to Truk is almost successfully ambushed by a US sub.

Another light force goes ashore at Roxas in the Phillipines, I am busy cleaning up the last US-held bases here.

Singapore holds out to another deliberate attack, but we bring forts down to 1.

In China we manage to hit a Chinese Corps hard in the open; and Tsiaotso is captured. In the north, next to Sian (which has been heavily reinforced), I am moving the entire 1st Army (about 1,600 AV) to the SW, crossing the river onto the railway line between Sian and Nanyang. 1st Army has performed a feint towards Sian but will actually move along the railway line to try to trap the 100,000 Chinese troops at Nanyang.

I have a a few subs snooping around Sydney, both suffer the wrath of some minesweepers' depth charges. I-4 has some light damage and will head back to Kwajalein for repairs.

A US sub has a torpedo dud against CL Naka, there are lots of Allied submarines outside Truk, ASW spots about 12 submarines.

More heavy bombing of Singapore, but frustratingly our assault achieves a 1 to 2...disruption is heavy. Singapore is proving a very, very hard nut to crack.

The IJN paratroopers who dropped on Djambi finds the town now empty of Dutch troops, all have been pulled to Palembang, so they decide to capture it with the oil wells intact.

In China we are moving LCU's to be in place for the ambush at Nanyang.

We get some nice reinforcements, which includes about six infantry brigades (about 100 AV each) in China. They will be moved into action as soon as possible.

We put a SNLF Coy ashore at Sorong and a US sub is sighted outside Cam Ranh Bay, but escapes.

We conduct more ground attacks at Singapore, and then a bombardment with all artillery units, giving the assault units a chance to rest and reorganise.

Bizarrely the Allies at Singapore then mount a shock attack which is bloodily repulsed - they lose 193 combat squads.

Iloilo in the Philippines is invaded.

The invasion at Iloilo continues; Lautem is bombed, more as a way of seeing what's present.

You would have thought that after the heavy losses suffered in the Allied shock attack at Singapore the Japanese would be able to take it, but no, Singapore holds but forts go down to zero.

At least an additional 47-odd Allied AV is destroyed.

We are once again repulsed at Wenchow. I'll hold here to recuperate and await four infantry brigades to remove this thorn in my side.

We have submarine contacts outside Sydney (some angry minesweepers in an ASW role) and Brisbane (interesting, some refugees from the Dutch East Indies).

Darwin is bombed by long-range Betties from Kendari, but find the port empty.

Singapore suffers heavy aerial bombardment. A deliberate attack finds the forts (overnight! ) back up to 1. A 2 to 1 assault brings the forts back down to 0 and removes another 120 or so Allied AV, but man, this siege of Singapore has been going on for a long time.

At Iloilo I am waiting for additional SNLF forces to march there overland.

I am beginning to think that I should be bombing the airfield or port at Singapore instead to prevent forts being built - but too late now.

Our subs twice spot Allied ships in the Torres Strait. A Glen-boat near Sydney misses with two torpedoes at a minesweeper (one that also escaped the Dutch East Indies).

Seven Dutch level bombers trying to attack resupply ships on their way to Oosthaven are massacred by the Zero CAP.

At Singapore we conduct another deliberate attack, and achieve a 1 to 1...so close...Allied AV is down to 194, another 90 AV seems down...Allied AV is down to just over 100 but our units are suffering from fatigue and disruption.

On a positive note, we capture Iloilo and have over 4,000 Filipinos surrender to us.

A Dutch sub unsuccessfully attacks a Kyushu-class freighter on the surface; one of my ships near Brisbane is unsuccessful in attacking an Aussie minesweeper. It does however later score a torpedo hit on a different minesweeper, hopefully she goes down.

We conduct heavy aerial bombardment of Singapore again. We have another successful deliberate attack at 1 to 2, but yet again the forts have been built up overnight to level 1...the odds there were 1:2.77, so close to a 3 to 1 which would have seen the base captured...raw AV is over 1200 to Allied AV of 188...

A US sub scores a torpedo hit on a Kyushu-class freighter resupplying Oosthaven...she later sinks. Another US sub is sighted near Shanghai.

A sub of mine again goes for one of the minesweepers on ASW duty outside Brisbane, with no success.

Our deliberate attack at Singapore - after almost capturing it the previous turn - is disastrous and gets a 1 to 2...this is getting ridiculous now.

At least my feint in northern China seems to have worked, we have advanced from two directions into Loyang, the shock attack results in the fortifications there being brought down to 2. Hopefully Loyang will fall soon and the pincers can close on Nanyang.

A US sub unsuccessfully attempts to torpedo a destroyer transport in an invasion TF near Ambon. I am moving with SNLFs on Koepang and Dili on Timor.

We conduct heavy aerial bombardment of Singapore which is followed up by a ground bombardment.

A large invasion force has been moved from Truk under cover of Combined Fleet assets, including Kido Butai. Rabaul and Lae airfields are empty. This large invasion TF will now branch off into smaller task forces that will land at every single base on New Britain and New Ireland.

In China we capture Loyang. Soon Nanyang will have a surprise when over 2,500 Japanese AV will descend upon it.

My invasions of New Britain and New Ireland continue under heavy ASW support from Kido Butai. We capture Cape Gloucester, Talasea and Arawe.

We continue our heavy daily aerial bombardments of Singapore (which has become a sore point for me now, at least my combat units there are picking up valuable experience gains...) We try another deliberate attack...but just cannot get that magical 3 to 1 assault. Fortifications are again reduced to 0.

Zeroes from Oosthaven sweep Batavia, but no Allied fighters are up.

We land at Koepang, another SNLF will land at Dili tomorrow.

Bacolod in the Phillipines is cleaned up.

An SNLF goes ashore at Dili.

Zeroes sweep Kalidjati. Recon of Batavia shows just over 20 fighters and 20 bombers there.

We conduct some port attacks in the New Britain area. All bases on New Britain and New Ireland except for Rabaul and Kavieng are captured.

More aerial bombardment of Singapore, just about the only Allied unit left there with combat ability is an Indian Division with about 100 AV, a deliberate attack there gets a 1 to 1 and brings forts down to 0 again...the Allied engineers there keep putting up forts to 1 overnight. I am going to rest my assault units for at least three or four days before conducting (hopefully the final!) assault on Singapore.

My trap at Nanyang has been sprung. We have over 2,700 AV present there, and will attack tomorrow.

We try a bombardment attack at Palembang, there is 426 Allied AV there, and I will need reinforcements (and lots of engineer units) before I attack here. Singapore will need to fall first.

In Burma we capture Toungoo. We are performing recon of Allied bases in Burma, have not found any large troop concentrations yet, and the AVG has disappeared. Chiang Mai is almost up to a level 3 airfield.

Heavy aerial bombardments of Singapore persist while I am resting my tired assault troops.

One of my I-boats outside Brisbane gets hit twice by depth charges, she'll head back to Kwajalein for some repairs.

At Nanyang Japanese troops have entered from about four different directions. Our first attack achieves good results, reducing fortifications to 2 and disrupting quite a lot of Chinese combat squads. We will deliberate attack again tomorrow, hopefully inflicting some heavy casualties on the Chinese units here who appear to be running very low on supply. We will then continue harassing survivors if they retreat across the open hexside to the west onto clear terrain.

Rabaul and Kavieng are captured, with the Allied units there surrendering.

An ambitious assault at Koepang is unsuccessful, I will need to reinforce here if I am to take it. An Allied task force has been spotted apporaching Timor, apparently three ships only, with two being xAPc - not sure what to make of that.

Oh, one more thing - BB California has just shown up on the sunk list. Apparently she sank in the hex one due east from Pearl Harbor today...interesting, not sure what to make of it.

Oh, and here's a screenshot of the current situation. We've overtaken the Allied VP score in the last two days:

A good day for Allied subs...First a Dutch sub scores a hit on a Kyushu freighter that was resupplying my units in Sumatra; a second Dutch sub scores another hit on another Kyushu, all while they are returning to Singkawang from Oosthaven.

Batavia is swept by Zeroes from Oosthaven, but is again clear.

Singapore is bombed (again), and bombarded.

At Nanyang we get a 1 to 2 attack - but it's not quite as bad as it looks. They will rest for one day and then shock attack! The reason for the supply shortages at Nanyang I think I can surmise - it means my trap worked!

I had moved the 1st Army onto the road/railway from Sian to Nanyang, thus cutting off supplies from there. The capture of Loyang and Chengchow cut off another avenue of supplies. Then, I had moved an armoured regiment across the river and into Nanyang from the southwest in order to cut the road from Ankang. There are only two hexsides through which Nanyang can now be resupplied - via the rough hex to the northeast or via the clear hex to the west.

Quiet turn, in most places units are moving into position.

Batavia is swept again, no Dutch fighters are up. Bombers will visit here soon then...

Singapore endures more bombing. The siege has been almost a month-and-a-half now. I am resting my troops for a big assault tomorrow...
