Quite so. Indeed as I've always said, the great game of association football has always been my favourite sport.

I'm too old for this.....

Just what was Moussa Dembele trying to do?

I was about 15-20 mins behind watching on sky. After Madrid scored I had to fast forward it on x2 to x6 - no way could my dodgy ticker take 10 minutes plus stoppage time

See above. Plus - watch us draw (at best) against Palace on Sunday

So you was sad about nothing. You won against Palace. Time to change the meaning of spursy.

I, on the other hand, has a real reason for being sad. The football season is over and it is a long, dark, cold, depressing winter before next season begins. And by then half the team is gone and during the long break the players who remain have forgotten how to play football.

Yes, we won...but only thanks to the man of the match. Yes, our 3rd choice goalie kept us in it with a number of fine saves - oh and a poor miss by Palace's Zaha.

No need to change Spursey yet. Playing like that we will lose against any decent team.... in fact come to think of it, we have lost to the only two decent teams we've played so far!

Yea, Real Madrid isn't all that good. It is a seriously overrated club.

Second place was secured with one match left. So not all that bad. Not that good either. I am normally glad enough for second place, but now it feels like to long since we won a title.

World Cup Qualifying:

Best of luck in the second legs to:

Switzerland 1-0 Northern Ireland

Italy 0-1 Sweden

Peru 0-0 New Zealand

A tough ask for all three, but everything will be crossed

Unlucky Northern Ireland

Beaten by a dodgy penalty in the first leg, they then did everything but score in the second. You did yourselves proud even getting to the play-offs boys

Indeed. Sad story. No one deserves getting kicked out like that. Even sadder when that was the only goal.

At least one penalty to Sweden surely?????

But it can't stay at 0-0 with this number of Italian chances. Come on Sweden put your foot on the ball!!!

It surely could stay 0-0, and I am quite happy with that.

With that opposition, both in the qualification group and in the playoffs, it is a quite impressive feat to pull through.

You can not expect to get a penalty that easy when you play in Italy.

Damn right.

But then the seedings seem weird. Spain get Italy, France get Sweden and Holland and England get er..... England get.....erm...yeah whoever.

Great night for Swedish football. Tactics were spot on against a team that seemingly can't buy a goal.

Personally I've got nothing against Italy - and sad for Buffon - but England have failed to reach three finals so its about time others took some pain too
