I suspect it feels nice to be a Spurs supporter on a day like this.

Not really. It took too long to break the League 1 opposition down and the problem is now critical in my view - and that is not too strong a word for it. The team are so predictable, there is no plan B, there is no impact player, there is no pace, there is just the same old tippy tappy rubbish in our own centre circle. Tottenham do not seem to understand the concept of balls played in behind the defence, or the benefits of running at people with the ball or of playing quick balls at pace to unsettle defenders. Its rubbish to watch and even worse - its actual rubbish. Spurs have been found out and any team worth their salt can play us like a fiddle to keep us out..... or if any good, can take us apart.

I hate football.

Yet you remain in the cup while others do not.

BTW. I do not hate football at the moment since the new season is still ages away. I miss football. Although I know that my team will be worse than rubbish once the season begins. I know I will wish that they were rubbish then. Because when the season begins they will have a plan the players themselves do not even begin to understand. The player have forgotten that you need to run in football. And they will have forgotten that you need to pass the ball before you get tackled. I will wish that they had a plan A that worked...

The groups for UEFA Nations League was drawn today.

England's group looks fairly easy.

Group A.4
Croatia
England
Spain

The Swedish group looks like a nightmare.

Group B.2
Turkey
Sweden
Russia

Group B.4 looks interesting

Denmark
Ireland
Wales

Scotland should be able to win their group.

C.1
Israel
Albania
Scotland

Gotta love the passion the Spurs forwards play. Would they not be English, they'd be cheating divers the lot, but alas, they're are. Passionate about the game, that is.

went to see Partick Thistle at Celtic yesterday ... a very odd match. Not often (in the context of the SPL) that its the Celtic fans calling for the final whistle.

Last week was Queens Park vs Raith, Hampden when Queens Park are at home is an odd (and rather enjoyable) place to be ... on entry you more or less can have your very own stand all to yourself (if you are feeling a wee bit antisocial) or wander off to find someone to chat to ...

As with last season, its still surprising when Spurs completely dominate in the NLD (ok apart from a rather scary final 5 mins), can't quite get used to the idea that Arsenal are in one of their (rare) periods when they really are second rate.

Mmmm to be fair loki100, I think that comment sums up the problem with you. You like football one minute and not the next. I think you need to take a more balanced, consistent and, dare I say, mature approach to the beautiful game - and it is truly a beautiful, beautiful game. I've always maintained that football is an incredible game and, within the world of football, Tottenham Hotspur FC are a truly wondrous team to behold.

In all seriousness though, I hate all this talk like the tie is over. Juve - like all great Italians teams, are more than capable of winning 1-0 at Wembley. Spurs need to keep focused and NOT go with the attitude its job done... Juventus are too good for that sort of nonsense.

aye, they are quite capable of turning up and playing in control for the entire game to keep a clean sheet and see what they can create on the break.

If Spurs score first, then they will be in trouble (I think) but if its 0-0 they won't panic.

I'd also be far more content if Toby was re-instated, he just removes all the random bits from Spurs' defensive play

They are playing Graham Potter's lads are they not? Should be an interesting game.

Yes, Graham Potter has made an amazing job with that team. Although here the teams inexperience has shown early in the match. I suspect that a few months of preseason training and thinking of this match has taken its toll. Swedish teams are generally bad this time of year (before the season has begun and no grass training) and apparently Östersund is apparently no exception.

Warmest day of winter (only -5 degrees Celsius).

This is a picture from today where they prepare the arena for the match.

I don't think there was any suggestion of underestimation - and Newport County in the last round would have stopped any notion of that. Although 11 changes were made from the Juventus game, none of the players put out were inexperienced 'kids' (Foyth was the only one vaguely in that category) and when Poch plays Rose, Alderweirald, Son, and Wanyama (regulars last season), Trippier and Winks (plenty of games both this and last season) Moura (£25m Brazil international just signed from PSG) Sissoko (who has played in more Spurs matches than anyone this season) and you have Alli, Kane and Dembele on the bench, then that doesn't smack of a weak team.

I don't think Spurs underestimated Rochdale, I think the Rochdale players rose to the occasion, did their homework (Spurs don't like not being given space) and so stopped Spurs from playing - at least in the first half. Second half was one way traffic but Moura tired and Son just couldn't find his touch all game.

Yes, its called supporting Spursey. Except there is no hate involved - just a general feeling of resignation about what will happen, interspersed with all-too brief periods of elation (like when we win a corner for example or actually have a shot on goal) but even then knowing that it'll all end in tears and sans trophies.
