I hate football......

Braintree aimed for a mid-table position...

Finished 6th...

... reaching the promotion play-offs...

... 17 points behind the 2nd placed team... (well... 16 points adrift but we had a point deducted because the FA are morons)...

... condemned to play all their games away from home...

... reached the final...

... played out their skin to get a 1-1 draw after extra time ...

... and then won it on penalties...

I hate football too ....

It's a funny old game....

Best wishes,
Steve

PS. Just imagine being a Chelmsford City supporter.

I don't know who these braintree guys you're always talking about are but I'm pretty sure they are no match for the mighty FC Ulaanbaatar.

I wonder if we could arrange a pre-season friendly...

Best wishes,

It depends. Your pre-season is their almost end of the season [winter in Mongolia is from september to may]. Players sipping caipirinhas vs a team at its peak. Now if you could get them during their pre-season (sipping kumis), your players at their peak (march / april) you might stand a chance.

Or not

Kids playing pool in an Ulaanbaatar street. One of them, a Barça fan apparently. Photo taken by me in 2009, at the glorious peak of Guardiola's (El Baldie or Fraudiola to some funny people) Barcelona.

Er, no, not even close

Winter in let's say Moscow starts in december. In Siberian Irkutsk in october. South of the Baikal you've got the high Mongolian plateau, even colder than northern Irkutsk. We're talking about normal - 30, - 35... -40 Celsius

Your island has got a nice shield ie the Gulf Stream = no real winters. Suffice to say there may be sub-tropical trees in Scotland.

Unless Braintree is somewhere in Canada, then I stand corrected.

Look below 3 different photos taken at different places in Ulaanbaatar. No manhole cover

I could have thought this is an "accident" or that they were fixing the sewers or whatever. But I knew orphan, abandoned kids live below ground (from a sad Japanese documentary I had seen before), in the sewers. Sleeping outside is obviously a certain death

Football is a fun game. And the ball is round. And yet a small thing can change my mood entirely.

Life is grand today.

Simple.

I want Real Madrid to win so put all your money on Liverpool

I want Fulham to win so its welcome back to the Premiership Aston Villa

I really hate this stoopid game

I want neither team to win.

But, currently, I want RM to lose more than I want the opposition to lose.

And your prediction?

A final = anything is possible. Liverpool should know this better than anyone.

On paper, RM should bag it, but what RM will we see this evening? What Liverpool? The one that trashed City or the one that struggled (draws) with many minor sides?

Championship Play Off Final

Wembley

Aston Villa v Fulham

Winner will pocket at least £160m...

Fulham get the game under way.

Fulham have most of the early possession.

Chester booked for a foul on Mitrovic….

15 minutes gone and still waiting for a shot on goal.

23 minutes GOAL!

Aston Villa 0 Fulham 1 Tom Cairney.

Fulham dominating possession.

Half Time: Aston Villa 0 Fulham 1.

Second Half: No changes for either team.

Many Villa fans are hoping that their team can't be as bad in second half as they were in the first.

Villa starting to get into the game and look much brighter in the early part of the second half.

The Villa fans are happier.

61 minutes... Bettinelli saves from a Grealish shot. That's the first shot on target from Villa.

Villa pressing for an equalizer.

70 minutes: Second yellow and a Red card for Fulham's Odoi...

Johansen off and Norwood on for Fulham...

78 minutes: Fulham: Kamara off for Kalas... Villa: Almohamady off for Kodjia and Jedinak off for Onomah, Hogan for Hourihane.

10 minutes to go...

Fulham Christie replaces Fredricks...

Fulham sitting very deep...

5 minutes plus stoppage time left... The Villa fans in the stands look desperate. The Fulham faithful don't know whether to sing or bite their nails. Some are trying both!

90 minutes are up, there will be 5 minutes of added time....

And Fulham are promoted to the promissed land.... The general consensus was they derseved it with the best chances 11 v 11 and handled Villa well when down to 10 men.

Congratulations to Fulham.

Best wishes,
Steve

I wish I could agree with you. And for a while today I actually thought so. But 15 minutes and 3 allowed goals and my sentiment changed. Football, is dumb.

Definitely a new goalkeeper
I hope they are on the phone to Roma already for another one of their players.

That's not a cash prize to the winner - they are talking about the money involved in the Premiership.

Now, no real interest in the League 1 play-off (although probably want Rotherham slightly more) BUT the big one on Monday:

Come on you Grecians!!!!!

Thank you.

Still, that is a scary amount of money. Might cause some people to go bananas and destroy a team.

Since I am not allowed to speak about bought players, and foul play, I will refrain from doing so.

Not sure why this qualifies as good news. Good news for him, and his teams, I am sure.
