Thoughts? Well Brighton, or Brighton & Hove to give it its full title, was where ABBA won the 1974 Eurovision Song Contest. I think it should be commended for that alone.

I thought it impressive that they returned to the top league. And that they remain. No small feat, it seems to me.

Guys, I just want to quote Warspite in another forum before the game.

Sadly the Dutch have this one covered I am hoping Spurs don't embarrass themselves and can avoid a cricket score, but I'm not hopeful . Liverpool vs Ajax in the final will be a good game - two incredibly attacking teams.

I've always said that football is the greatest game on earth and that we were most likely to win tonight. I've always said this and I'm unanimous in that.....

Don't want to think about the final and having to play the Red Machine - I'm just pleased we are there. I said a little prayer to my dad - with two minutes of extra time to go - if he's up there and watching this, now's the time for a little heavenly assistance. God bless you dad!

Poor, poor Ajax. It was always kids vs grown-ups, and they had no answer when Spurs changed to a more direct approach.

Twice Poch tried to match them with a similar playing style, twice he was forced to adapt to use their more physical players to give an edge instead. Quite incredible, really.

Congratulations to Spurs for that late comeback.

My heart bleeds for Ajax though.

Here's my prediction of the Spurs - Liverpool final though:

The first team to go 3-nil up will lose

And I predict that lots of Englishmen will travel to Madrid shortly. And that tickets (to Madrid) already are in short supply.

This is no coincidence. I don't believe in them. This clearly confirms the English football as a whole is improving. The youngsters (short, medium term that is) are starting to win everything. The same happened to the classic underachiever Spain before the 2008-2012 period. Don't be fooled by the many foreigners in the league. Without this native improvement I don't think we would see what we see now. Enjoy the ride while it lasts.

What's truly amazing as well, as this is about club football after all: three of the four finalists are clubs from London

No need. We got to the final of the most prestigious club competition in Europe for the very first time. We should not be there. When you look at what Poch has achieved this season it beggars belief.

We had more players involved in the World Cup semi-finals/final/3rd/4th place play-off than anyone else - and so effectively Spurs had no pre-season.

We had no new signings to bolster the squad.

Dembele (our best midfielder) was injured early doors and then sold having not played again.

We lost key players to injury - some more than once - and some will be missing for the final. Try taking Salah and Mane out of Liverpool or Aubamyang and Lacazette from Arsenal or Aguero and Sane from City and you'll see what Spurs had to contend with.

We lost Son to the Asian games so at one point we were without Kane, Son and Alli!

When we played Barcelona, Dortmund, City and Ajax in the Champions League, all were leading their domestic leagues at the time.

We had all the disruption and uncertainty of the ground move - even having to play a Carabao cup 'home' game in Milton Keynes.

Despite all that - we weren't out of the title race until the end of February. We lost only on penalties in the Carabao Cup semi-final (having got practically no recognised penalty takers left on the pitch!). We finished in a Champions League place and have reached the CL final.

So, Liverpool are a great team, have the final experience from last year and are massive favourites. If, as expected, we lose then at least we can hold our heads high.

Most likely outcome. Except I don't think they use the katyusha rockets. Also note the difference: no destruction of public, private property, no riot police needed. They kick the sh*t out of each other, as it should be. And let Darwin do the job.

This has no place here. Although, I am not sure if it breaks any of the forum rules. Disgusting.

In my humble opinion, that is.

Funny thing is a thread you started was hijacked by *someone* to puke some outright *nazi* vitriol. I don't remember you saying a single thing.

You've got your priorities eh Einstein?

As if hooliganism was not part of *football*

No, football is not part of hooliganism. Nor is hooliganism part of football.

And you have no idea what my priorities are. So I could do without insults.

English news are all reporting on some "banter" gone viral, seemingly laughing at football violence, with staff, maybe even players (but I hope not), joining in. Mysteriously, said club chose to downplay it, instead of issuing an apology. We can be better here. Let us.

Well, I like to think that I live in the real world.

I am not denying that there are some people who go out of their way to fight.

I challenge you to show me an football official from a Western Democracy that claim hooliganism is part of football. Anyone that supports people fighting on the streets in the name of football.

I say that it is you that is out of touch with reality if you think that street violence is condoned by the football world in Western Europe.

    Hilarious.

And this proves what exactly? That the proletarian hordes doing the rounds of stadiums and streets never existed and never will? You definitely live in some parallel universe. Meanwhile on planet earth... World Cup: More than 1,200 UK football hooligans blocked from flying to Russia. So something that should not exist exists after all... I could find you hundreds, if not thousands of articles like this. Europe, South America an now -enjoy- even Africa and Asia...

They want to stop them? Next you will tell me the cops want to stop the car thieves.

But the prosaic thruth is hooligans are part of football (a sub-culture, ok) just like car thieves are part of our society.
