The mighty Manchester United have just lost 2-1 to the Danish side Midtjylland (after taking the lead). They have an away goal to take back to Manchester but even so, that is their 11th defeat of the season.....

Indeed. But that happened in Denmark and not in Manchester.

The football match took place in Denmark, the reverberations i.e. the high level meetings and discussions that will no doubt be taking place, will be done in the north of England....

Taxi for Mr van Gaal. Welcome mat for Mr Mourinho

Right. And I know where I read it first.

Rumour has it that Mourinho and Zlatan, who soon will be a free agent, are in regular talks...

Yep and its rumoured that Man U officials have asked Mr M who they should off load - no surprise to hear that Juan Mata is top of the list...

I wonder what all the ManU fans, and all the fans of Mr Mourinho, will say if they do join up.

Judging by the tweets on the BBC, I think they will all go down on their knees and thank the good lord. Patience - and time - has run out for the Dutchman I think...

In reality I think they do - support for 'The Special One' is not universal. But I think money talks and ..... the appointment of Guardiola at City has really stung the United board into action. They have spent a lot of money and are likely to not be in the Champions League next season..... They need a proven winner - even a proven winner with baggage.

The Swedish football season begins today with cup matches.

And I am as nervous as I ever been. My team has played well in the preseason matches. Last match they played made pundits claim that it was their best preseason match ever (I doubt it since the club has a 100+ years of pre season matches). But it such a bad sign that I am freaking out.

Who are they playing?

Good luck anyway.

Thank you.

We play Varberg from one division lower. It is two degrees Celsius, and snow (or possibly rain) is expected. And it is played on artificial turf. How fun do you think the players will have? I wonder if our players will think more on how to avoid injuries than how to score goals.

Somehow I suspect that Varberg have an easier task in motivating their players...

We played several young players in the midfield (average age of the 4 midfielders were 20). They performed decently on the offence with speed in their passing and some creativity. But they lacked in the defence. We won with two goals against one in a match that had a lot.

We had:
One injured player.
Another player with a bloody nose (broken?).
A missed penalty.
Some snow.
And a ball that hit the woodwork.

And they had a disallowed goal (for offside but the pundits do not agree if that was the correct call).

Well at least you are through to the next round

We have a very tricky 5th Round tie against Crystal Palace today. I have a rather horrible feeling that Adebayor will get the winning goal for Palace - he's always done well against us - both for Arsenal and Real Madrid.

But let's hope not!

Good luck today.

It is scary how often old players perform better than they ever have when they play their old team.

But I would bet a small fortune that you love football, if you win on Saturday.

Well. I don't hate the game, yet. But we just advanced to the cup quarterfinal. 6 of our starting players are injured. And we are up against the same team that knocked us out last year. Very unfairly I might add. And it is a local team that I might actually consider our archenemy. Where can I place a bet that I hate football next week?

Nah. A English team can't lose to a German team. Never happened. Never will.

Indeed. Although you can find some comfort that your team compete for the title in the best football league of the world.
