A perfectly executed strike on Ambon and no hits results? Maybe I need to boost the detection level or something.

Those B-17's are gaining experience and it's just a matter of time before they start getting some hits.

Another expensive raid on Singapore. I may have to stand down that squadron to let it refit and rest up.

She will probably be sunk either way with Jap CV's in the house.

I just can't get the picture out of my mind...

Bored Jap soldiers lazing around and swatting bugs at Dili. When the alert siren goes off for a raid.
Very loose translation of japanese by a hidden coastwatcher...

Jap soldier #1 "Those silly Americans! They cant hit water, much less our ships!"

Jap Soldier #2 "I got an idea! lets go watch em,(slaps chest, splatting engorged mosquito) it beats killing these bugs!"

Jap Soldier #1 "Ok, we can cool off in the water... Grab the beers too!"

They go wander off towards the Dili bay...

Accurate scenario. I've seen American soilders stand on their sandbagged bunkers to watch a mortar attack on a nearby FOB. Probably high on mary-J-wanna or something.

I'm guessing that Jim hit a loaded ship, or at least one that hadn't unloaded all the way yet.

What I find interesting about this situation is the two Allied subs nearby, one already parked at Makkasar. What we have here is a situation.

The B-17 raids are getting larger and more determined. It's hard to stop a semi-large B-17 raid. My CAP prevented any damage though.
