Meanwhile the AVG did their daily raid, sweeping. My guys ( 2 Nates ) are standing down before they get shot down.

Nobody got hurt this time but the portent is that I'd better get some air support into this area pretty quickly now or watch my fighters get shot down one at a time. There's 9 Claude's at Lae and 9 Zero's at.......someplace close, I don't remember right now.......and only one plane got aloft. That's a lack of air support I'm guessing.

It appears that there's an air war about to start in the Port Moresby area. Another reason to get some air support into there.

And then I have some renegades that hit the wrong base. I thought I had them target PM. Obviously I didn't.

Another good carrier strike. Lack of Allied air cover is noted.

There was some ground action just north of Kuantan. The Allies are backing up into the city itself. I'm hot on his heels.

The Allied fortifications at Singkawang are now reduced to 0 so the subsequent attacks will probably meet more success.

And by the way........what am I to do about the Allied troops on Borneo? I really don't want to have to chase them down in the hinterland. I'm thinking of doing mop-up sometime after the hustle and bustle is over. Sometime in say mid-'43 or something.

There's at least 3 Allied subs making a pest of themselves. Traffic in and out of Saigon is on "high-ate-us" unless and until those subs are disappeared somehow.

This is the state of Tokyo right now. I'm amassing quite a pile of resources and supply there. It's looking like Tokyo might have to be emptied out of supplies and especially fuel to the other home island cities for them to have enough to support engineering operations, etc. I'll have to gather enough AKL's to do that in some future shipping group and get busy.

I saw here that Larry is taking 2 CVE's back to Hong Kong for damage repair...There were a couple of "hits" in previous reports but FOW also claimed they were AMC's or CL's... Yahoo!!

To the loyal readers...

I'm here to confess my sins, Tactics, Timing & Planning, have all been laid to waste by Larry. Furthermore I have put too many ships in for refit, clogging my shipyards and depleting my TF's of urgently needed escorts. Larry is running wild as expected, however my opponent has done better than any A.I opponent I've faced, he has taken over just about all of the important ports for Oil & Resource in the Pacific Rim by early January. Singapore and Palembang should last as least one more month, Rangoon doesn't seem high on his list to take right now.

Larry must keep alert for my Carrier TF's (Yorktown's going to be drydocked a while), The PH BB's are refitting (bad oversight/mistake there) and are still severely damaged, so I'm figuring they are out for most of the war. I'd scuttle them but don't want to give Larry all those VP's. What i'm getting from the East Coast is poor (little experience & equipment) right now but should improve in both quality and quantity over the next two years.

Larry and I were discussing IRL Allied tactics and the three main gambits North (Alaska) Central (Wake-Guam-Saipan) South (New Ginuea- Phillipines). I have a favorite against the A.I. - the Starvation Route! I make 2 bombardment TF's covered by CV TF, and go pound one of the Oil/Resource ports to rubble, but do not invade it. against the A.I. the A.I. would inevitably try to rebuild it. costing it twice as much and getting no production in the meantime. I found this cripples the Japanese economy and supply soon dries up to outer bases, making them easy pickings - it accelerates each time you do this and you dont lose nearly as many troops in fighting. Is this tactic workable against a real live opponent?

Thoughts or suggestions?

It's Wed. 23:18 pm and I've received Jim's moves and did the combat replay etc. And here's the combat results from 08Jan42:

I lost a sub to some determined Depth Charge attacks. This is the first sub I can remember loosing so far. There may be another but I'm not sure.

One of my minesweepers found a mine at Palembang but there can't be very many because I have a sub parked there too. Maybe a couple of minesweepers can sweep Palembang and prepair it for landings soon.

Jim's got a lot of subs operating around Cam Rahn Bay right now. I guess he must suspect that something might be coming out of tlhere soon. Either that or he's got his subs operating in a quiet area and nothing is happening there. I'm not saying any more.

An unescorted gaggle of bombers does a raid on Port Moresby and gets shot up. I need some AF services at these airfields pretty badly to get my fighters to get into the air.

And some Nell's from somewhere ( I couldn't find them ) did a raid on Clark Field. I need to take them off "airfield" missions and put them on "ground" attacks.
