Yes, I was very exited to download your Distant World Extended mod few days ago! Thank you very much! Unfortunately I didn't have enough time to play it thoroughly. I did only a quick review play. And so far I found it to be a very nice mod! It is really "Distant Worlds EXTENDED" indeed!

Looking forward to your 30 race selection!

1. The Quaemo finally look like the infant-eating, disease-spreading filthy monsters they truly are.
2. Potatoeheads still retain their potatoedness, now within a jar.
3. Shandar are going to get enslaved and killed a lot. For the way they look like now.
Verdict - This is all I ever wanted for race pics for DW races. I totally approve!

Excellent work Martian. It must have been some time you dedicated to this project. Thank you!

Thank you very much for your great review, Kalthaniel!
Yes, you are right, it did take some of my night time last week... But it's so rewarding to see such nice and warm response at this forum!
P.S. I am sorry, don't know yet, who are "Potatoheads"?

Some really nice ones there, not sure I agree with all of them but certainly some nice additions I'd like to add - thank you.

Thank you, Bleek.

I agree, my selection is not perfect. That's why I uploaded all of images to let everyone to make their own choice. My selection is just an example. I am still experimenting and after few days I already want to make some corrections to my list.

Very good job there! I like them a lot.
Like you I prefer a more "serious" or "realistic"/"scientific" approach for the game and your portraits selection helps a lot!
On my side I am painting some portraits, but it's for som... shh...

The Haakonish. Sneaky bastards, they always try to throw you off with their potatoish facial expressions. On the bright side they boil well and taste great with salt :P It's always handy to have a small colony of Haakonish around, just to improve your main race cuisine ;)

Hey Martian awesome mod!

Correct me if I am wrong, but have you done some mods for Cortex Command as well?

I actually had a question about installing this. In my first attempt I screwed up my copy of DW to the point it was unplayable. For this picture mod and your Ruins picture mod, so you keep the original pictures?

Thank you for your help in advance!

Hi RaffleSnaffle and thank you!

Cortex Command is a great game with great modding capabilities indeed, but no, I didn't do any mods for it... yet. ))

"Serious races" installation:
If there are any mods you are already using, just put (and replace) all files from both "serious races" zip files to "raceImages" folder located in a "Distant worlds\Customization\(mod you are using)\" path. Before replacing any original files you may want to make a backup copy of them.

If there is no mod you are already using, just create your own mod folder in "Distant worlds\Customization" and then create there "raceImages" folder. Again, extract there all "serious races" files.

Hope my explanations are clear!

For "Surrealistic ruins" mod installation is little different.

AFAIK ruins modding is not supported through customization folder. So you have to replace original images located at Distant Worlds\images\environment\ruins folder. Don't forget to backup original files before replacement.

Thanks!

I actually figured it out on my own, but not without trial and error ha.

Thank you for your response! Btw I LOVE the new pictures. Gives a new edge to the game.

Thank you for making this community even better :)
