1) How do I reload my Nebelwurfers?
2) How do I place my reinforcements, It tells me I get X amount of Troops and Tanks, but I cant seem to figure out. New units seem to come on a card.
3) Creating new units in the game makes a blank counter, how do I order planes for it?
4) What are the little numbers on the railroads? Can you bomb railroads?
5) Why so many engineers? After my 1st victory on easy mode.. I progress to the next level and I have 1500 Engineers, while my troop levels are at 500-1000.
6) Attacking cities, it seems 600 Russians and a few guns can hold off 1/2 the german army... please help

Thank you I would appreciate any help I'm trying to learn the game

1. IIRC the Nebelwurfers will eventually auto reload. I don't remember if they have to be stationary.
2. Replacements are auto placed. You can use the replacement menu on the unit to prioritize a unit's replacements.
3. Not sure but I think you prioritize the unit for replacements. Someone else knows for sure.
4. Not sure but I think they are the number of turns until the RR is usable for your side. Don't know about bombing RRs.
5. No idea.
6. Air strike, artillery, assault. Really tough cities are better to surround and let a couple of turns go by to let the enemy force start suffering out of supply effects. Another poster stated quite awhile ago that they thought 3 turns for the enemy to be unsupplied was optimal.

Nebelwerfers (and rockets) are used up when you attack (or, I suppose, defend) with them. The game treats them as 'destroyed' and replacements from the pool will fill them back up again. Which for the Germans is very very slowly.

On the top of the screen are some buttons...one of which is marked Rep for reports. Click on it, and on one of the listed reports, you can click on it to get a list of all the replacement points you got that turn. Turns are only 2 days, so don't expect too much.

The game will allow you to create lots of units..as many as you care to spend your valuable political points on. However, just because you bought the counter, doesnt mean its going to grow into a nice new division. You will not have enough replacement points to keep your armies in the field at full strength, let alone have new ones being built. However, there can be some exceptions....if you click on your High Command (say, OKH), then click on Troop Details....(and again if there is a little white square next to the title), you will get a list of all the replacement points being held by it. You can also click on a units replacement level. It will cycle through 25%, 50%, 75%, 100%, Priority, and Disband. If you set it on Priority, then that unit will get replacements first before it checks the non priority units. Amongst the non priority units, it will dole them out in order of need, with the most hurt units getting replacements first.

Another very important thing to remember, is that the unit has to be connected to OKH. (or STAVKA). or it wont get any replacements. I find it is faster/better to have the unit directly connected to OKH.

The little numbers on the railroad represent the Guage difference between the wider Russian rails, and the narrower German ones. The game will automagically convert them from one guage to the other, taking 4 turns to do so...the number is the number of turns it will take, with 4 representing Russian Rail down to no number representing German rail.

Against a human, engineers will be one of your most valuable units.....they repair bridges. Supply travels over bridges much much easier then over a river. The enemy will blow bridges, either with land troops retreating (russian) or by air (german).

Combat is a trickier thing to explain..there are many aspects to combat to consider. A russian unit in a city will probably have a high entrenchment level. You can lower it with bombardment from artillery and air. (or the Russians can lower it for you by counterattacking). Units have readiness, which directly effects their strength. Units have stacking, so you should never never never attack with over the stacking limit (also called a BattleStack), unless you are so sure the enemy is so weak, he wont do much damage back. Some units fight better then others depending on terrain. For example, dont use tanks to attack urban hexes. Units get a bonus to combat if they are within 5 hexes of their Corp HQ (thats army to you ruskies). Not that your Army HQ (thats front for you barbarians) does not give any bonus to units directly attached to it.

The Corp commander will have cards he can play..one of which is called Attack...The army commander may have a useful card as well he can play on the Corp commander...look for the ones that increase attack. An increased attack value shows up as a red percentage on the picture of the units. (defense is blue).

So when it comes to a russian city..If I have to attack it directly (outflanking it is much less painful, but not always possible), I will bomb it from the air a turn or two before I get up to it with my infantry. I will try and fight to gain three hex sides on the city, which will allow me a 150 stacking point attack. (and give a 20% bonus to the attack). I will try to use only divisions for the 40% bonus. I will play a card from the army (like Lead from the front, Freedom, or Gamble) on the corp to give all those divisions a bonus. I will pick the best division and give it attack (or save the card for defense/speed afterwards). If the entrenchments are still rather high, I will probably still retreat the russians, but will also lose about 2 for every 3 of him I kill. If he is badly mangled from the bombings, then it will be an easy victory. Occasionally one unit may hold...but thats okay... The entrenchments will be ripped right down to next to nothing, and his readiness will have taken a big hit as well...and it will be easier to take the city next turn. If he tries to reinforce, those units wont have time to entrench.

Thank you for this reply.. you have summed up how to play the game very well. I didn't realize this game had a stacking penalty, so I take it 150 is the max stack?

In my game now my engineering unit is 1300 troops with 250 trucks and 10 20mmflak guns, so basically thats 5 engineers per truck.. you would think i could put those trucks to better use.. is there anyway to break them up and give them to some of my infantry that is on foot? Same thing with my "flak" unit, 400 infantry, 150 trucks, 30 20mm flak and 10 88 flak, All this hardware just sitting around doing nothing drives this general crazy lol.

I also have a STUG unit, and it is all by itself..

Stacking is 100 on the defence. You can see the number at the top of the screen under STK. On the attack, you can use 100 if attacking from 1 or 2 hex sides..after that, it goes up by 50. So for your example, 150 is the stacking the attacker is allowed from 3 hexsides. If you completely surround the enemy and attack from all 6 hexsides, you are allowed 300 stacking.

The trucks are very useful, but you can also get a fair number from playing the Truck replacement card. It starts fairly cheap, so you can play it a couple of times. What units you may or may not want to build or disband is kind of a personal choice. I disbanded the nebelwerfers after firing them, as I decided I didnt want to pay points for a card (nebelwerfer replacements) that gets only one use. I also disbanded all the army artillery to get the trucks and guns, but discovered that the 150's arent used much outside of them...but the trucks were nice.

Basically there is no way to detatch trucks by themselves, and i don't see an option to request specific types of units for or attach other brigades to corps. You are basically stuck with whatever gets sent your way. Am i right about this? If thats the case I can live with it, I just want to know for sure that you can't customize or order specific units or brigades to join a army corp.

I think you can change the basic make up of a specific unit, like making a motorized infantry from a regular infantry unit, so that it is more mobile but I don't think you can specify the exact units it will get. It will get whatever units come through as replacements.
Any new unit or reinforecement can be assigned to any corp you want using the HQ button. You can transfer the whole unit or just on regiment if you desire.

I can't seem to figure out what the sub unit bottom does.. It says no units are missing sub units, but when you hover the mouse over it says, add change or remove subunits.

edit: I think what is bothering me is, I get reinforced but i don't know where the reinforcements went.. I know they got placed somewhere but its hard to track down what unit is getting what

The sub unit button allows you to build the regiments that get destroyed from divisions. If you have none that are destroyed, then none will show up. When I hover on the button, it only says (add) but then I am on patch 1.04

Replacement points are generated at the beginning of the turn and are put into OKH. You can see this by hitting the STATS tab at the top of the screen....then clicking on Regime Statistics, then on Replacements Received next to the graph.









The amount under Unit Itself: is the replacement points I got this turn. I played an artillery card, so I got some extra med Hvy and S-Hvy artillery.

You can further click on different units to see which units got what...drilling down any level you desire.

You can also pick Replacements requested, although I tend not to do that, because it can be depressing.
