Ouch.

Flight Leader to Admiral Nagumo. Third strike not necessary. Party with sake instead.

Oh, don't feel bad. I resurrected a PbeM game that Lokasenna and I are restarting from late Jan 42 and the original IJ player had gotten some really good bounces on his initial (ahistorical) attack.

Six BBs gone, sunk, off the board, bye-bye.

That hurts & puts a crimp in Surface capabilities for months and months.

11 Zeros destroyed by flak? Seems like the AA gunners should have been looking to the bombers.

(This kind of result is why I prefer to start on Dec. 8.)

Well, I'm not laughing in this revived PbeM against Lokasenna (IJ). Having six BBs gone from Day One really crimps. I have to be much more careful with CA/CL TFs, just one IJ BB with a CA or two can cream surface forces - in late Jan 42, I think I have maybe five BB/BCs available, total.

The OPs results are pretty crippling, if not almost worse than my results.

C-in-C Combined Fleet Yamamoto to Admiral Nagumo
"You left some USN BBs a float...be a nice chap and finish the job !!!"

Looks like those extra torpedoes practices paid off; nice strike ratio 49:67

I am sure payback will come soon enough...

It could always be worse, especially when almost everything was on target.

This is because the default setting of a pair of carrier Zero squadron is: Airfield
Attack, alt.100...they strafe very very low the field, so they can take heavy damage
from AA defense.

Wow...

You only sank or damaged 2 and a half times as many ships as historically and lost damn near half as many planes.

I really feel for you. NOT

Good to know! From the sunk ships list, it didn't look like the initial strike was all that great.

For the OP: Only 2 BBs sunk outright, but those other 6...are you going to lose any of them to damage control rolls?

I'd say the 5 DDs you lost hurts even more than the 2 BBs. Any non-sunk BBs on day 1 is just a bonus, but the stock of DDs you have in December is absolutely precious if you want to send anything anywhere.

Think of it as a challenge!

I don't mind you knowing - I get some decent stuff the next few months, but I have to be careful about surface placements for quite a while.

Can never have enough destroyers, that's for sure.

Hang in there. Come mid 44 you will be wondering if you will ever lose another surface fight.

Idunno, depending on the rolls... Arizona is the only one with heavy fires/heavy damage. With Allied DC On, a couple of those might live. But won't see action for 2+ years.

As a complete opposite, in a Scen10 Ironman game the AI completly ignored Pearl Harbor!!

I now have so many BB that most have opened as sideshows on the US West Coast!
