Currently playing War in the East against an opponent. We are looking for a new game as WITE seems to have run it's course. Is War in the Pacific worth buying.

Thanks,
Wes

As the owner of both games, I will tell you yes. I play, and enjoy, both games; however, WITPAE has about 1,000x the replay-ability for me that WiTE.

Just don't expect the land combat model to be at the level of WitE. Really this is a game about naval, air, and logistics.

The learning curve is a bit daunting...but once you get past that this game will last you years, literally.

I always wonder how people dig up those necro threads and the lemming train follows without noticing.

Considering 'Wes' has asked about WitP in 2013 he is either slowly moving towards vet status - or gone for good. Considering his last login dates back to summer 2014 I would bet my money on the latter.

Well,,... I've been playing WITP and WITP AE since 2006, and almost 10 years later, I still play it every week. I have no idea how many fraction of pennies that equates to per day of fun, but seriously, best game i've ever bought for the money....

Worst part is, i'm still a rookie.... , and still learns new things all the time.....

It is not how long the game lasts for you, it is how long you serve the game.

In one of the early MS Windows iterations you could set the start-up batch file to play a sound clip. Best one I heard was Darth Vader intoning "What is your wish, my master?"
Is there any way we could do this for the startup of WITP-AE? Maybe use Darth's quip to Obi-Wan: "Now I am The Master!"

As stated by an opponent six or seven years ago - there is no learning curve. It is a cliff, and you are in deeper kimshi then the Rangers at Pont du Hoc!

Sorry, Lo.

I was replying to Lecivious... and got lost. Been a while since I was here. Lot's happened, not much of it good!

I remember decades ago (when I still had a brain) swapping out MIDI files on games for fun or whatever. That would be way beyond me now. The question is are these files part of the base code or are they drawn from separate folders? If the latter, someone, maybe Olson, could tell us how.

I must have clocked THOUSANDS of hours on this game, and I'm not a heavy player. The hours-to-price ratio is nuts.

One of my all time favorite responses to this timeless question.
Personally, counting the game engines' granddaddy "Uncommon Valor"...I guess I have been playing this game maybe a couple of hundred times.
That said..I am still learning things about the game, (some call them "Easter eggs" in other games).

The great people encountered on the games' forums are witty, knowledgeable, and very sharing.
