Wonderful, thanks!

Could you also try to dig up info on their SAM, AAA and radar systems?

Not sure about IOCs or the 80's timeframe but looking at GE

Current SA-2s appear correct in DB, 6 single-rails with SNR-75.

All Angolan SA-3 sites in imagery(2000ish to now) are the 3 quad-rail setup(some sites have been reduced to 2 quad-rail launchers).

Current radars in DB cover it from what I can see.

Plenty of AAA around SAM sites, will need some more time on this.

[ADDED DB v440]

All three Yak-38 Forgers should have SPO-10 Sirena-3M RWR. This also applies to Forger A in CWDB.

I've tried to find relevant sources on the internet, but they really suck. But I've managed to put together some pictures!

I'm taking another look at this one, and will try to add it to the database if I can find enough info. Anyone know the main diff between Block 1 abd Block 2?

And what are the typical combat loadouts?

Thanks!

I found this link...

http://www.iomax.net/archangel/

...which includes a link to a 12-page .pdf brochure for the aircraft with a pretty comprehensive list of specifications (including things like fuel tank size, screen shots of the cockpit, etc.)

The aircraft appears to have six hardpoints for weapons. Each hardpoint seems able to carry two weapons or weapon pods with a dual rack/rail launcher. Each hardpoint can carry up to 1,000 lbs. of weapons and the aircraft can carry a total of 4,8000 lbs of weapons. So, the brochure claims the aircraft can carry a maximum of 6 x GBU-12, 12 x GBU-58, 12 x AGM-114 Hellfire, or 48 Roketsan Cirit laser-guided missiles (in 12 four-packs, two four-packs on each hardpoint). The aircraft appears able to mix and match these in pretty much any combination.

Based on pictures, I'd say some typical loadouts are...

16 x Roketsan Cirit + 4 x Hellfire + 2 x GBU-12

or

16 x Roketsan Cirit + 4 x Hellfire + 4 x GBU-58

Information for the Roketsan Cirit is here...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roketsan_Cirit
http://www.roketsan.com.tr/en/urunler-hizmetler/hassas-gudumlu-fuzeler/cirit-275-lazer-gudumlu-fuze/

I can't find any information on the differences between the three blocks (Block 1, Block 2, and Block 3). I'd say just put three identical blocks into the database as separate entries for now so the "right" block can go to appropriate countries and, as more information comes in, if it ever does, the entries for each block can be tweaked as necessary.

I hope this helps.

Sweet, thanks! Some of the aircraft were already there, have added the rest.

This is what I was able to find out. As far as I can tell, all of these are in the database already, so I just listed the service dates. The dates in some cases are "conservative"--I'm not sure of the exact dates, so I am only listing the earliest and latest dates for which I can find some evidence that Angola had these in service.

PT-76 tank: 1975-present
T-34 tank: 1975-1990
T-54/55 tank: 1975-present
T-62 tank: 1990-present
T-72 tank: 1999-present

BM-21 GRAD: 1980-present
BRDM-2: 1980-present
BMP-1: 1990-present
BMP-2: 1990-present
BTR-60: 1980-present

D-30 122 mm Howitzer, 1980-present
M-46 130 mm field gun, 1990-present

ZPU-4 14.5mm, 1980-present
ZSU-23-4 Shilka Self-propelled anti-aircraft gun, 1980-present
ZSU-57-2 Self-propelled anti-aircraft gun, 1980-present
S-60, 57mm towed AA gun, 1990-present

SA-7: 1980-present

SA-3b, 1980-present
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S-125_Neva/Pechora

From Fledgling to Eagle: The South African Air Force During the Border War, by Dick Lord, suggests that by 1982, Angola had the following SAMS: SA-2, SA-6, SA-8, SA-9, SA-13, SA-14, and SA-16. SA-8s and SA-9s definitely appear to have been in service by the end of 1983 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Askari). All appear to still be in service.

The radars used by Angola listed in the database so far almost all seem to be been built by the Soviets in the 1950s, so I'm assuming they could have been in service any time during the Angola civil war.

I hope this helps.

[FIXED DB v440]

In DB3000, the F-35B has the external fuel tanks internal, so it's RCS in long range configuration is the same as the standard CAP. This should be brought into line with the A/C configuration, which have the external fuel tanks external.

Not as far as I can tell, though you might want to have the LDGP loadouts use internal stores (which gives me a scenario idea).

Hello,
regarding SA-2 and SA-3, according to Hpasp (SAM Simulator developer - see info in manuals/documentation https://sites.google.com/site/samsimulator1972/home ) Angola imported 24 SA-3 batteries from 1979 to 1986 (version not specified) and 7 SA-2 batteries between 1984 to 1987 in S-75M Volkhov version (precise subvariant not specified) --- still their SA-2 entry in database should be upgraded to SA-2e with 20D missiles (instead of current SA-2b with 11D missiles). At least that's my thought.

I don't see why the F-35 couldn't (the aerodynamics are obviously roughly the same and the sizes again obviously work out), but it's listed as external only. Don't know why, probably it's good as it is.

[FIXED DB v440]

Evening gents!

I'm back with an old request, unfortunatly:

quote:

ORIGINAL: Supreme 2.0

[CORRECTED DB v439]

Request to adjust the primary loadouts of both AH-1Z platforms in the DB (#336 and #2843). I noticed that the real "primary" loadouts for the AH-1Z are missing or have been mistakenly misconfigured.

Affected are the loadouts:

#1519 - AGM-114K Hellfire II, HYDRA 70mm Rockets, AIM-9M Sidewinder (BAI/CAS [Use gun])
#13752 - AGM-114K Hellfire II, HYDRA 70mm Rockets (BAI/CAS [Use gun])

Both will give you 14 Hydras (in 2x7-shot LAU-68D/A) per loadout whereas the Zulu Cobra appears to pack 38 Hydras (in 2x19-shot LAU-61C/A), no matter what's the configuration of weapons carried. Sure, the Viper can carry the seven shot rocket launcher, it just appears to not doing so. A quick google search will clear things up I guess. I searched for images of an AH-1Z carrying the LAU-68D/A but was unable to find a single one. That's why I think we could use the existing ones and add a little more firepower to them.

So please adjust existing or create these loadouts:

8x AGM-114K Hellfire II
38x HYDRA 70mm Rocket
(2x AIM-9M Sidewinder)

(1)(2)(3)

Can you also please change the name of the helicoper to AH-1Z Viper. Like the former Huey became the Venom, didn't the Zulu Cobra/Super Cobra became the Viper?? It just sounds more awesome.

Thank you!

Supreme

Some corrections have been made to the platform and that's cool! Thank you! Stupidly, the same loadouts I flagged in my previous post are misconfiguered again...

#1519 - AGM-114K Hellfire II, HYDRA 70mm Rockets, AIM-9M Sidewinder (BAI/CAS [Use gun])
#13752 - AGM-114K Hellfire II, HYDRA 70mm Rockets (BAI/CAS [Use gun])

In the game, these loadouts will now give you:

8x AGM-114K Hellfire II
76x HYDRA 70mm Rocket
(2x AIM-9M Sidewinder)

Looking at some internet pictures, I'm sure you will pretty quick see that such a loadout is not operational. (I highly doubt it's technically possible to attach two LAU-61C/As to a sinlge weapon station using a twin hardpoint.) I think this kind of adjustments does not consume to much of your time, so could you please reduce the number of Hydras carried from 76 to 38 in the above mentioned loadouts?

Thanks for the efforts!

Supreme

Have added these, thanks!

Thanks Liare,

I understand Danish so feel free to post

Mods in DB v438:

- Updated radar
- My sources say the Bullpup was phased out in 1982, when most other European air forces stopped using it too. Hence the cut-off date in the database.
- Added strike loadouts to recon version.
- Added: "TF-35XD Draken -- Denmark (Air Force), 72-92, 6x"
- Willemoes Harpoon loadout: Scenario designer has the ability to change the launchers to wartime loadout if needed, in the scenario editor
- Updated forts.

After 5 posts or so you should be able to post links. Would be great to see what you have been able to dig up of info on the missing subs and MTBs.

Thanks again!
one more thing, there where 20 RF-35XD's, 20 F-35XD's and 11 TF-35XD ordered from Saab, all delivered, along with some later deliveries of out-of-service J-35D's for spare parts.

the utility of the Bullpup is questionable anyway, i dont have any written accounts of it being retained except that, apparently, a small stock of AGM-12D's where kept for bridge demolition until high yield GBU-10 Paveway where delivered in the late 1980's along with the first F-16 Blk. 15 OCU planes.

the highlights in terms of missing warships, from a gameplay perspective anyway, is the following.

Triton Class ASW Corvette
also known as the Albatros-class, build in Italy, in service 55-81.

Daphne Class Patrol craft
based on the royal navy Ford class seaward defence boat, in service 61-91.

Delfinen class submarine
domestically designed small coastal submarines, 4 533mm torpedo tubes, in service 61-90

Falken class MTB
domestic MTB design, in service 61-78

Flyvefisken class MTB
Domestic redesign of the WW2 era E-boats, in service 54-74

Hvidbjørnen class arctic patrol vessels
in service 62-91, these had a secondary in-shore ASW role around greenland.

Narvalen Class submarine
german 205 class submarines, in service 70-04

Tumleren class submarine
german 205 class submarines, bought used from norway 89-04

Søløven class Patrol craft/MTB
improved Royal navy Brave class boats, in service 65-90.

Lindormen class minelayer
domestic minelayer design, in service 78-04

Falster class minelayer
domestic minelayer design, in service 63-04

Sund class minelayer/mine sweeper
ex-USN craft, Adjutant Class in service 55-89.

there's also a host of small patrol cutters, home guard cutters and what not added, but the current ship selection is quite poor for anybody who wants to build a baltic-conflict cold war type scenario since the motley collection of MBTs and mine layers that would have made the straits of Denmark such a daunting proposition for the soviet baltic fleet simply aren't there.

and yes, that's motor torpedo boats in service up to the 1970's, high speed wooden boats can be surprisingly sneaky when they have islands to hide in and around, if you could be so kind as to add the link i have send your way in a PM Emsoy ? :)

<Link inserted by moderator>
http://www.navalhistory.dk/english/Naval_Lists/Periods/1945_.htm

anyway, i gather that sensor information is required as well, how much is required ? is a radar/sonar model/make enough or is more detailed performance statistics required ?

older janes books should have at least some of that info in them, but i do not have a massive collection.

Hello, been new here since I saw all the efforts to update the database, and I wish to submit the issues I found for my future scenario editing.

I saw the first topic that using DB3000 Issues Spreadsheet (It's a Google Shared spreadsheet), and I did added a handful of Chinese vessels and weapons for changes, but I saw nobody did comment them back, neither the older requests.

Should I submit all the issues I found at this forum topic instead?

[FIXED DB v440]

Whiskey Class subs have no passive sonar(?). I guess its a DB error. FlyingBear posted it before but couldn't find many sources.

I think the MG-10 Feniks should be passive only, like the MG-10M of the Romeo and others.

Found only one source:

Pilatus PC-7

MEXICO
Pilatus PC-7

Operational dates: 1979-present

Although designed as a trainer, this aircraft has 6 hardpoints and has been used in combat by Mexico. (And a bunch of other countries, too, including Chad, Iraq, and Guatemala, but I really wanted it for Mexico. I was thinking of putting together a COIN mission with Mexico taking out terrorists in Guatemala, near the border, before they can attack a Mexico-bound merchant vessel.)

Judging from pictures in http://www.demotix.com/news/1365513/cadets-evaluated-become-pilots-mexican-air-force/all-media, and information in http://www.doppeladler.com/oebh/luftfahrzeuge/pc7.htm, typical loadouts appear to be:

2x 12,7mm Machine Gun M3P Browning in HMP-250 Pods by FN Herstal, 250 rounds each, weight: 116kg per pod +
2x7 70mm unguided missiles in LAU-7A launchers by FN Herstal, empty weight: 26kg or 91,1 kg loaded per launcher

OR

4 x Mk 81 250-lb. bomb

Length: 9,78 m.

Tail plane span: 3,40 m.

Max. speed: 500 km/h at 6.095 m.
Service ceiling: 10.060 m.
Range:

- range 1.200 km without drop tanks.

- ferry range 2.630 km with drop tanks.

Max. endurance 4 hours, 22 minutes.

Yes, it's right at the first page. I cannot post any link yet so I got trouble giving sources.

I will post issues at here soon anyway.

DEVELOPER'S NOTE: Database development slow-down

Hey guys,

Just wanted to let you know that I'll be re-directing my limited Command time (which is squeezed inbetween family life, day-job, workout, and various other interests, etc) to write code. My code contributions have been rather limited lately and I need to add several new features and fix a few bugs before I can start working on the Advanced Strike Planner.

As such I'll wrap up database work the coming weeks. After that I'll only make fixes and critical additions (i.e. needed for a scenario currently under construction) to the database. Nice-to-have stuff (that no-one will ever use in a scenario anyway haha) will not be added.

If there is anything you consider extremely important (...enough to justify spending time on adding /fixing, rather than having me working on code) then please give me a heads-up. If not then I'll finish the db, release, and dive into the Command game engine.

Thanks!

The following unit is missing the AN/SPS-49(V)7 air search radar

#2341 CG 68 Anzio [Ticonderoga Baseline 4, VLS]

It is the 2015 version of the cruiser, but I found some pictures from 2015 with the AN/SPS-49(V)7 radar still onboard

Thanks, but the CG 68 entry covers four different ships that are now in the process of receiving the CMP upgrade
