Seems to only happen to the horizontal label.
The vertical one of Rokossovsky for instance is the same as yours.

Well, I made a try with a silhouette, but I'm not that happy with the result

I'm not sure what's going on with the text but it's been that way since I started testing/playing. I just thought it was normal. Some counters with longer words have the text actually come off the counter. Hmmm.

Hard to believe that no one else is seeing this.

Btw, I really like the Kansas. Of course you're not happy with it. Lol.

Note that the Kansas also has his name stretched. How did you add the "Kansas" name on the counter ?

Gotta run but I just used my gimp program 'picked up' the color from the counter, used it to paint over the original text and used the program to enter new text.

It has to be a windows setting.

Any ideas?

This is what I think too, but you said you run an untouched Windows 7.
But the text you added to the BB-21 Texas' counter is stretched in width I think.
Unless you've set it up to be stretched in the picture editor program, and unless this is a stretched font, I can't see what it can be except a windows setting.

Look in the control panel, in the display settings, the settings that makes the font 125% or 150% larger, or the personnalized text size that you can set at the same place too.

Avatar Request.
I'm a WIF noob, so have yet to go beyond early turns of Barbarossa...
Could someone post up the 9th Australian Division Unit for me please...
[May not be in game, doesn't stop having an appropriately themed avatar.]

There is no 9th Division counter in the game.

No, it's set to petite-100%.

Odd.

Neilster more seriously, WiF is not yet "my game". May be in a near future. I'm studying it now.
I visited this forum rarely in past ten years, just to see the Computer game progress status. I'm more known elsewhere... things could change because I really want to try WiF. I made only a FtF game several years ago (soon aborted) but now there are fair chances I could start to play on regular basis. At least I hope.
