With the 2.03 patch on the horizon, I thought you might like to see one of the new features in the patch. For those who like to mod, counters are now mod able. I was having fun with them tonight and thought I would highlight the possibilities.

Your custom counters are saved to the scenario file, so you can keep the original master and then mod it for each scenario you make.

The first counter shows the 11th ACR patch in the upper left corner of the counter. Unfortunately the counters are per side in a scenario. So if you have multiple formations, they would all have the same patch

You can have multiple colors per counter. I just hope that Capt. Darwin doesn't kill me for my liberties in counter design.

What happens to one counter for a nation would happen to them all? Would they be scenario specific or is it game specific?

Good Hunting.

They are saved to the scenario file. So, you keep the original save and make a copy. When you make a scenario, you can alter the counter specifically for that scenario. Say you are designing a scenario with the Ami 4th Inf Div. You could edit the counters for the Ami side by adding the patch for the 4ID. All Ami counters would have that patch. When you save the scenario, the new counters with the patch are saved directly in the scenario file. Afterwards when you make a new scenario, you can go back to the original counter, keep new one, or design a different one.

Would the custom unit design carry over from scenario to scenario in a campaign of each scenario uses the custom counters?

Not to change the subject BUT could this same "method" be used to load custom maps for a scenario when designing?

That is a good question. I would think that it would, but for the definitive answer, I would ask this to Capn Darwin.

As I think about it more, it you would have to save the counter designs to each scenario in the campaign, but I don't see why that wouldn't work.

Regarding custom map, I believe that answer is yes. The maps graphics are also saved to the scenario (unless I am mistaken). I know that when I have made changes to map that already has a scenario attached to it, I have to refresh the scenario data to get the changes.

Counter image is stored in the scenario file, but the map info is a pointer to the map file. You can build a scenario with a custom map, but others will need the map files to play it.

I checked it out and Capn Darwin is correct. My mistake regarding the maps.

Hey, I thought all the counters looked way cool! Of course there is a reason they don't let me make art decisions anymore, lol. We could do the whole interface in that razzle-dazzle scheme and it would be awesome!!! This is what the world has been waiting for all these years and all we needed was a little imagination.

I was playing around with the new counters that will be unveiled in the 2.03 patch. Here are some of my efforts.

They look nice Charles... I may need a new 'avatar'
How would the German counters look with the modern black cross?

BTW, where are the silhouettes located...
I know I saw them somewhere but I seemed to have lost them.

I've no idea how to make counters, mods etc.

But would it be possible to have the regimental badge on the counters? For example the tank of the Royal Tank Regiments.

Mat

Charles first post and picture shows a unit badge placed on the counter. You could do something like that. If you get too fancy with a multi-color image for the background then you get something like the last pic in his first post and it get unreadable.
