ORIGINAL: terje439 Btw, how come in the Olympics it is GBR, while in other sports like football it is four single nations? Terje When it comes to football, each nation has its own FA (football association). The English, Scottish, Welsh and Northern Ireland leagues. These compete individually, although some welsh teams do play in the english leagues. When it came to the Olympics each association was asked if they were willing to join together and have a Team GB. Scotland did not want to. Therefore the Olympic team were made of different players from different FA's without scottish players. Only players that did not play in the European Championships were allowed to play for Team GB, don't ask me why, maybe to give more players a chance to play. Other Nations did not have this ruling. The british Olympic Commitee is British and not English, Scottish etc. therefore Britain can only havea British Olympic team and not sent 4 single Nations. The Commenwealth is a completely different story. Mat
