Only America plays true football. Do you think any European country could place a team on the field that could beat north Texas ? I do t think so. Even a combined Eurpean team would only kick a field goal against Florida State.

What are you? 10? And why is it called "football" when it's barely ever kicked?

Here is a updated medal table.

Note that Norway has not performed as well as they had expected or wanted in the cross-country skiing. But despite this they have a whole bunch of medals in various events. Including several in cross-country skiing. They are a true inspiration to all winter sport nations.

Netherlands rule the speed skating events. Well done.

Switzerland has impressive performance during these games. Cheers!

I noticed. Darya Domracheva impress with three gold in Biathlon.

But for some reason I prefer not to talk about Belarus.

Edit: More or less same reason that I did not like to talk about GDR but what do I know.

Woohooo, add 2 golds and a silver for Norway.
Now, to complete the day we need to beat Russia
in hockey (although I doubt that since the Russians
have arrived at the match. For us to win, they needed
to take a wrong turn somewhere....)
But, when considering there are more hockey arenas
in Canada than players (all ages, both sexes) in Norway,
I suppose we cannot demand too much from our boys.

Congratulations to the new medals, Norway.

Here is the updated medal table and now Norway has a impressive second place.

Those pants should be banned.

I don't understand why the USA doesn't dominate Olympic Ice Hockey. We have people like the guy in this photo. If he were our goalie, the goal would be plugged up so tight no one could ever score on us.

Thank you thank you. Not too long ago the scandinavian countries were our most feared opponents, but not this time. I was also suprised to see Shani Davis perform not his best, that guy is very well known and liked here.

We did not even have anyone starting the 10.000m. It is a disgrace imo :(
2 more golds today though, so the olympics are coming out ok after all.

Sweden - Scotland in men's curling is a really close and exciting game. I meant to write Sweden against Great Britain.

Edit: Who cares about men's curling anyway when there is women's curling.

Well done team Great Britain.

Well sorry to say it but the GB women got exactly what they asked for . No guarantee of course that they would have been good enough to beat Sweden, but it would perhaps have been a slightly easier task than taking on the unbeaten Canadians.

How they lost to Denmark was criminal....

Howsomever, on a more positive note, well done to the men on beating the Swedes in their semi-final and a guaranteed silver .

That means we have reached out minimum target for the games of three medals

Well done to Team GB and the Curling ladies in particular.

A bronze medal gives us a guaranteed 4 medals and our equal best haul since the very first Winter Games in 1924 (Chamonix).

And as we are near the end of the Olympic wintersportgames.... don't forget the paralympics will be held 7-16 march.

http://www.paralympic.org/

Let me tell you I've been an athlete since I was twenty and I am 52 now, usually training with guys/gals half my age (sigh) and training/working out/exercising, can be lots of fun but also hard/boring/painful and stressful. Now go imagine doing all that *but* with the added handicap of say having only one leg, or no legs at all, or no eyesight, or whatever. Therefore I have the highest admiration and respect for these paralympians

For me tv coverage should be the same as the "normal" Olympic games.

Thanks for the link. I'll check it out.

A good reminder for folks going through whatever hardship they might be going through as a good lesson in adversity and triumph. We could all learn a lot from these athletes.
