Did you ever get CD guns to fire on enemy shipping on the Yangste?

Only on shore bombardments.

Mines never worked either.

So disappointing!

One of my many problems is supply, and supply getting to Nagoya and Maizuru.

I have had to move units in and out of the cities so they can resupply, rather than wait for the supply to ship into those towns. It is a pain...

I have gone to leaving all AA in reserve no pursuit mode as it moves in and out of the cities, but this way I always have some AA firing at the Allied bombers. If they stayed put, then no AA would fire and I would embolden the Allies. But I get tired of moving the the units in and out, so normally start 10 or so units each way each turn.

Lots of other units are using reserve no pursuit mode too. I find having about 20 to 30 percent of the raw AV in this mode helps, but I don't put low experience troops into this mode for fear they won't fight.

The countdown is really on!

I've been doing some testing myself and I'm convinced something isn't quite right in regards to CD guns on rivers. Plus, I was right about there being something off with barrage balloons and night bombing, so I'm not completely crazy!

No major attacks on Honshu...

Japanese troops are really on their last legs, but I am also wearing down the Allies somewhat.

It is interesting to see how Japan use's of units change during the game.

I squandered a lot of my air force in pointless attacks...

I squandered my transports in risky last minute escapes...

Now, they are both extremely valuable in flying supplies with only the very rare attack.

Getting supplies to the combat troops is simply so very important in the slugfest that has evolved here.

I think a more methodical Allied player would have destroyed all my supply generation by now, but I still make quite a bit. Industry at Shanghai is untouched for example as is most of Manchuko and Korea.

No major attacks, but the Allies are recovering fast at Nagoya. The 4th Marine improves 40 AV in one day.

I am shipping supplies to Port Moresby and Rabaul which are out of supplies. I am hoping the supplies make it there to boost the base victory point total here at the end. Both locations are worth a lot of points for Japan and might give me an unexpected VP edge.

At least that is the plan.

No major attacks on Honshu. Moving in and out troops -- they are really worn out.

Changsha attack again...huge attack probably won't hold for much longer.

Nanking holding...

I have drained Tokyo of almost all troops, and now I feel that he might risk an air drop on it...so now it will be receiving a ton of troops via train plus a heavy CAP of my remaining fighters.

Here is hoping!

Shanghai, Nagoya and Maizuru are at risk of being taken. If Maizuru falls then Osaka and Kobe are in grave danger too.

But there is only 9 days left...

To counter those possible VP losses I am resupply PM and Rabaul which will get me some VP.

I still have two BBs, several light cruisers, one fleet carrier and a dozen destroyers, but I am thinking now I shouldn't put them at risk. Boring, but there you have it...

It has been a very entertaining ride, that's for sure.

Quite violent too XD

It is nice to see a last ditch defense of the home islands, and even though the game was ultimately "lost", I still found it interesting :P

That said, good luck holding out for the last few days!

Nanking falls to a beefed up Allied force...but we still whittle them down.

Now the question is can Shanghai hold. Forts are only 3 with 750 AV, although I am flying in 50 points a day.

Wenchow is now besieged by Chinese, forts level 0 there. My bad.

Hankow will evacuate this day, and the troops will fight it out at Wuchang.

Still rotating troops on Honshu. A fair bit of supply at Kobe, but it refuses to ship out. My troops can be supplied with supplies but not in Maizuru and Nagoya which is a pain.

My hoped for ambush of paratroops at Tokyo failed...I thought he might be lured into a hail merry.

Port Moresby gets supply, and Raaul is unloading now. Making an effort to get supply to every base for the VP that I can.

7 days left, maybe we can finish the game this day! Wouldn't that be grand?

Turn is away, put up some Zekes over Shanghai very low....perhaps his bombers will come first.

I would congratulate you on reaching 1945, but I don't want to jinx it. So keep up the good fight! Does the game go to AV on Jan 1st because of a point differential requirement change?

Thanks Bill!

I picked up 91 victory points yesterday by supplying PM despite the losses at Nanking; ratio is now at 2.526 to 1.

I will supply Rabaul today...and pick up more, but I doubt it will be enough to be positive again.

Here are the plane losses for the day...

Rufes, and KAI Dinah fighters down quite a few escorting P38 and Hellcats over the Yangtze...
