Greetings everyone,

I would like to know is it normal for BOL launched torpedo(es) to be guided by satellite imagery when they switch to search mode? I have experienced this in TFH "The Four Horsemen" scenario several times by now, but have circumvented the problem by simply not clicking directly on target when BOL engaging them. What used to happen is that a passing satellite would start to throw around the map (as usual) my already engaged targets and set well aimed torpedoes completely off course, several times during the pass! A minor nuisance but luckily, easily avoidable.

Another question, is it normal for the satellites within the same (TFH) scenario to report/show/observe ship signatures with at times colossal inaccuracy? They "report" well when in pairs, but if after a pair comes single one, all I can do is wave at my previously reported perfect fleet position. Is it sub depth related?

Best regards,

Mike

What happens is that the submarines receive the new info from the satellite detections and direct their guided torpedoes accordingly.

It has to do with how contacts are localized. Let's say you have a good cross-fix on a ship. Its AoU will gradually expand as the contact ages, based on an estimation of the ship's maximum speed. If the AoU generated by the next passive detection from a satellite is completely outside the existing contact AoU, then the old existing AoU is completely discarded and the new AoU takes its place; thus the tracking & refining begins anew.

Thank you for clarification.
Although I was hoping, that there is a way for the sub to give AoU priority to signals of acoustic nature (after the loss of acoustic link occurs, naturally) over the satellite acquired ones , even if the latter is newer. Perhaps a combination of acoustic and satellite imagery?

All in all thnx for response.

Mike
