If you could change the colors of any counters in MWiF. What colors would you like to see?

I'm willing to help you create the look you want.

Just tell me the colors you want modified. Share some colors choices with everyone. Major and/or minor nations.

Thinking of doing an Avalon Hill color mod someday. Kind of a nostalgic color counter look.
Here are some examples I'm working on for a modified counter set to play with.

I like the olive for the US forces but it is a bit hard to read the black lettering.

YellowNo5,
The black lettering we just have to work around. Para and Marine inside color not changeable.
How does this look for you?

WarHunter I have to say I am really torn on this. Aesthetics are hugely important for me in any game. One of the things I loved about WIF is the bright, colourful, easy-on-the-eye counters, with different (and distinct) colour schemes for each and every nation. Furthermore, the colours chosen by ADG were all "appropriate" for each country.

However, with the game now on computer I love that (thanks to people like you) we can experiment with the original colours.

The only country that I was unsure about in the original counter mix, was Japan. Who should be Yellow? China or Japan? I would really like to see Japan in some shade of yellow.

If Japan were yellow, what about China? Well I think the Soviet Union could be red (a darker red than the Japanese units) and switch China to brown.

Might work - what do you think?

Personally, I would't go this way (being colorblind). Khaki in Flames is one thing, but this is "a bridge too far" for me...

Well that's the beauty of computer mods - we can choose our own versions

Centuur, If you ever want to change that one color that is bugging you. I'm here for ya big guy.

Until then, i busy myself with Pink Panzers like the old Avalon Hill days and wonder how i can get some camo colors into the mix.

That brings me to question what color would the Chinese be if "VICTORY IN THE PACIFIC", Yellow, was used for Japan.

Thanks for the reminder. Sometimes the trees are lost in the forest.

China, Brown (Green)could be a good color also. Don't like the Chi Com are hard coded with 2 units back ground of light blue.

USSR, Red
Japan, Yellow

I'll try my hand with a new install and these as a base with CW Khaki.

So what colors do you think Italy could be?

I like Italy as is. However, if there was to be a change, the obvious colour choice would be the Azurri. Trouble is of course that that would mean clashing with the French (although probably not much more so than with the current CW Blue).

What colour could France be if that was chosen?

USSR Red
Japan Yellow
China Brown
Italy Blue
France Green
USA Olive Drab
Germany Grey or Pink

Oh yeah! Olive drab for the American forces. I remember I fiddled with this a bit, but I used a more green olive shade. I also seem to think of either yellow or red for the Japanese. Probably because of the board games I've played that used those colors for them.

The game does color changes when ships are captured. Hazy recall that it may do the Territorials too, when they change sides. Has anyone checked out those situations with the new palette files?

Yes, I did. Worked fine. Had Warspite in a fancy Italian stripe. Didn't look bad actually. Lend-lease mixing of colours went fine as well.

Brothers? These are ships AxelNL - feminine not masculine

The R-class battleships and the Renown-class battlecruisers are unloved step-kids in relation to the Queen Elizabeths

Last and no means least, remove that unsightly imagine immediately - the Royal Navy does not surrender to the Regia Marina!!!

Unfortunately this saddens me when I compare with the adverts I am forced to endure.

Since all the RN ships are female should not HMS King George V have been named King Georgina V or even Queen Georgina V instead?

Would it not be weird and disrespectful to refer to a King as a she?

I am so sorry, Warspite1. But did you not start with mentioning trousers? The fancy Italian stripe could have easily been on their skirts?

Your brethren (ok now?) were captured in a surprise invasion of Port Said, and supported two Regia Marina transporters in capturing many an atol/island around the Arabian sea in that particular game. They saw more action than they normally do in my games

Is that right? I assumed all countries did - but never really thought to question it? I'll post a question in the GD forum. Interesting.

You might like this for shades of Olive Drab.
