You might like this for shades of Olive Drab.

Model Master 1711 is the right one. Even looks uniform cloth-like.

That is also my favorite shade. It may not be the best choice for a counter background.
Its hard to find a good readable color that's not a shade of white.

I'm leaning more and more to a lighter shade of Model Master 4728 with a Model master 1711 as the fill-in for the NATO symbol.
Still it was worth looking at the various shades.

I like the BB Montana row very much! The lower row looks a bit German to me, could you put a German unit next to it?

Here is the original German color and the mod colors being worked on. I'll get a Japan Yellow up later.

Last two rows look quite good to me, but the US 7-5 shouldn't be a white print unit should it? Also it's surprising 4728 comes across that dark given the swatch in post 31.

If the US could be little lighter, maybe? (Of course we all need to keep in mind not all monitors are created equal so we may not all be seeing the exact same colors.)

For me the difference between the darker 7-5 print and the white 8-4 is good enough, but if that holds on the board without having the different units close for comparison...? Then again, one should focus on the interiour colour of the Nato box.

I still like the lower row very much for the US, the Bayerlein row is very Germanic. Reminds me of a German counterset of an old Avalon Hill - but which one?

The OD Green is really dark except for a couple of shades. Depending on the monitor in use, they do look lighter or darker.
I'll continue work with the last 2 rows. getting the anti-aliasing cleared up will be a project by itself. So many US counters.

The AH game you might be thinking of, back when the French were pinkish.

Hi! Warhunter if you have a little spare time, I got a petition, could you change the painfull pink for spanish nationalists? Yes, I am spanish and its too hony to me. Some kind of gray, blue, olive or brown would be more acceptable.
Thanks for Khaki, is wonderfull!

Update on Japan yellow. Rough draft.

Check this out. Whatever color i choose for Japan, the Commie Chinese change the filling for the NATO symbol to match it. Weird but that's how it is.

Need to rethink the Chinese because of that. Also 2 units of commie Chinese have a blue that can't be changed. And the Div type units are another shade of lightness. Giving the overall look to Chinese counters not unlike a circus.
Oh, and i managed to change the Air to Air color to red on the aircraft. that vexes me.
Back to the drawing board.

I think the yellow for Japan is nice though.

Warhunter it looks great, but a I was searching a little and in the nationalist army the main color was brown and olive khaki, maybe one of your mixes for USA or even Russia fits better, there some samples for real nationalists uniforms to get inspire![image][/image][image][/image][image][/image]

It is not so much the monitor as it is the surrounding colors.

If you place a unit in the center of a large white panel, its color will look quite different from the same unit in a very pale yellow panel, or very pale green, or ...

I don't know what would be the best way to make these judgments. Perhaps have the unit in the middle of a patch of clear hexes, and shown a second time in forests?

Using the uniform colors this is what i came up with.

Viktor,
Glad it looks good for you.
A little clean up left to do on the ships to get rid of the pink that still shows up.

One thing funny about this set of counters. The single Division will not change color like other counters when changing the code for inside NATO symbol.
I'll post the entire counter set for Nat Spain for Download in a new thread. It will have color change for Khaki and Original MWiF.

Update on my work with the US, Japan and China.

Here are some examples of ground units for the three nations.

Resistance is futile.
I just got lazy and did not track down the individual nations and change the color code.

My newest problem is decide on. The USA Lend Lease aircraft have that strip at the bottom of the counter. It makes reading the Tactical and Strategic numbers a little difficult. Not impossible. I guess i should lighter it even more. But i don't wanna.

How do Japan and China look to you?

Remember your impression of the Italian colour? "Sickly" I believe your said. Well that would suit the Chinese army much better, and you have managed to find the appropriate yellow colour! So in short: it is much better than the fresh, happy-go-lucky flower yellow they originally have. Although for the morale of the Chinese player it might be better to stick with the original.

The new Jap colour is more subdued than the original. As if they have already been fading away in the backwaters of Chinese hinterland, kicking back hordes of sickly looking Chinese corpses hex after hex, not seeing the end of it, plagued by supply problems.

So I think your colours are adding a more realistic flavour, which impresses me. I will have to betatest this to see how that works out for me.

I do like the more earthy/Flat colors. Especially for wargames. The yellow is from desert camo colors. The red is blood. OD green from modeling colors.

I'll go ahead and color a KiF with the added China, Japan and USA for a fashion show beta test. That way you can see how the whole package looks like. And anyone else that wants to try it out.

Well. I will stick with the original colors... The US troops are the same as the Japs for me now. My eyes are hurting if I see what you are doing to Steve's precious build MWIF...

But the non colorblind might like some it. I don't know... So don't let my remarks keep you from making changes...
