JJ is attacking the port at Bataan. Either they mean to:

1) Damage the shore guns
2) Get port supply hits
3) Wear out our naval support guys
4) Cause us to waste supply repairing the thing

That could be referring to the shore guns. Takes a lot of supply to replace CD guns.

*************April 14, 1943(e)**************

I may have missed a few days of wah. Oh, well, can't be helped.

What happened? One day there were 133,000+ Japs at Manila and only about 2000 at Clark. It looked like they were giving up or getting ready to invade Bataan by sea. The next day there are 32K LYB's at Clark again. That must have been a crowded train. There are no ships at Manila so I think it's just their R&R base.

Jap air pressure on Bataan has lightened because they are putting so many resources into Ceram and Sumatra. This is good. Sumatra is just because the Aussie infantry that Churchill released from North Africa wanted something to do.

JJ pulled back from Vinh and now is trying to envelope the town from the North and cut the road from Udon Thani from the South. I sent some armor from Udon Thani and Vinh to stop them. Vinh is getting bombed by sea and air. It's best to just let them get it out of their system.

USN carriers head back to the Pacific. Getting all the air groups spiffed up and collecting transports and assault units. Not enough fast AP's or APA's. Navy F4F squadrons have gone to 36 and are converting to F6F. 3 SBD squadrons converted to 36 planes and we are scouring training and replacement squadrons to get some good pilots and enough SBD's. Embarkation ports will be Pearl, Midway, Rabaul and Townsville. It is tedious but oddly satisfying in a nerdy Asperger sort of way. You just can't rely on staff to do anything.

So I am down at the beach with SG and she starts nagging:

She had a good point so I put down my phone and the beach gods directed that at that very point a 20 something darling (female) with tanned ass-cheeks and a floss bikini walks 3 feet in front of us.

I start humming the tune to Girl From Impanema...and then when she gets a little further away.."tall and tan and young and lovely.." One of my favorite songs.

We have killed LOTS of Japanese Lillys and Idas and other lower tier bombers the past few days.

I think they are running low on IJA bombers. The seem to have a limitless supply of freaking Tojos, however.

I moved some RAF fighters to Pakse and this worked to stop the air raids. If Br 70 Div can get to Pakse and break down out of march mode the town will be saved.

Sumatra: The dot base east of Padang was at 99% runway readiness so I couldn't fly any planes in but...somehow....the sneaky LYB's are able to completely pulverize the place the next day. Doesn't the base construction happen at the end of the turn? Very annoying.

The previous day, Aus 18 Brigade was forced back on the road to Djambi after 3 days of attack by a Jap division so everyone is trying to get to Sawahloeto, or whatever it's called to put up a defense. 18 Brigade is badly disrupted.

So I am down at the beach with SG and she starts nagging:

"You make me come down to the beach and then you sit there on your phone like an idiot"

And SG did't say anything?

He is a medical doctor just doing a skin check. If I remember correctly, SG is a nurse so he even had a nurse present.

I found the old "Risk" at the app store for my I-phone. You can play the old classic game but it has been converted to a hyperkinetic click fest with 90 second or even 60 second turns. The trick is to try to take over Australia or South America or Africa early but conserve armies together in one or two strong bases so you don't get steamrolled. Stay out of the big fights at the start and accumulate resources and then try to take out a weakling and take his/her cards.
