How would that work? A large transport force is spotted moving toward Trunk. The IJN carriers react but likely stay NW or W of Truk to use their range advantage. Perhaps the transports move to Truk covered by LRCAP from the carriers 3-4 hexes back so the IJN attack is concentrated on the transports. The LRCAP downs many IJN A/C. Day 2...the USN carriers close range.

Many things could go wrong.

Now that Clark has fallen I am beginning to wonder if it is advisable to push urgently toward Luzon or to wait for the arrival of two more CV's and 3 CVL's in the next 50 days? The nurses in the Malinta Tunnel and MacArthur will be POW's by then, I suspect.

The massive size of IJN carrier raids is terrifying. One option perhaps is to try to draw the IJN carriers into a battle with a fake landing at Truk with empty transports and a prewar BB. The Allied carrier force would be 5 CV's and 9 CVE's and leaving Long Island as a Replenishment carrier

Won't you have CVLs too, or is that the 9 number. That seems too low for a CVE count.

It might be costly but you could have a lot of 4Es on Naval Attack to wear down the enemy CAP. Have lots of subs to blanket where you think his carriers might hang out.

Subs would work but I doubt the IJN will go anywhere near Rabaul or Kavieng or Mussau. Mussau is the closest at 13 hexes

Having trouble unloading the radar?

Try using an Amphibious TF using AKA ships. That will give the best load/unload rates.

I forget what happened.

Japs bomb Bataan AF.

We bomb Truk and Ponape and Wotje and Manokwari.

We find Eniweetok unguarded and some Marine paras take the place from 2 PBY's.

I'm surprised you still have any Ewoks left on Endeh. Maybe they can rig some log ram traps for those low flying Nells!

Wow, quite a week in SoCal. Really bad. ICU's full. FEMA has deployed temporary overflow structures. Children's hospital taking some adult patients.

I got the Pfizer vaccine Friday. Made my arm pretty sore for 2 d and some fatigue but not terrible. I think part of the reason I am tired is I'm not sleeping well. I woke up at 3 AM on Saturday hanging upside down from a big chandelier with my arms folded....and the neighborhood seems curiously free of insects.

Sumatra: Our lads at Langsa get attacked by air everyday but the pressure is off Sabang so the AF there is almost repaired. Most of Indian 5th Div unloaded at Greater Nicobar. I was planning to shuttle them in to Sabang by landing craft but there aren't any for the RN yet. Plan B is fly in the infantry and then bring in an LSI for the heavy stuff
