I know of a hidey hole WAY back in the San Juan's if you need to get away for a while, just to rest your tired nerves. Great view, no troublesome phones, no T.V., no pesky neighbors...no internet either for that matter Takes a serious horseback ride to get to, though. I tried it once in my old Ford Bronco. It's still up there

Even famous folks stayed up there! You may have heard of some of them. Butch? Sundance? Jesse? And surely you read the reviews of Black Jack Ketchum?

I tried to drive over the mountain from Telluride to Ouray once in a 2 wheel drive Suburban. Had to turn back. We were sliding all over the place and the kids started crying.

I think I drove by the turn off to Hole in the Wall once.

I am pretty sure SG has figured out that I am trying to not let her read the "blog" as she calls it. I don't think the parts about PG or
the "Mayan" she will find funny.

If I stop posting for 5 days it means:

1) I forgot to pay my ATT bill.
2) Magnitude 7.5 on Southern San Andreas
-or-
3) SG read "the blog"

Aren't 2) and 3) the same?

El Chapo's hide out in Mexico is empty if you need a place to hide from SG.

Only if Kate Del Castillo comes to visit...without that a-hole Penn.

This is exactly the type of information that may lead to your demise....either by SG or by the voice on the other end of the phone.

British 44 Div is like a green American division without all the cool toys.

7th SA Armoured has good equipment for early '42 but apparently nobody told them how to turn on the Ronson engines.

2nd Para is pretty damn good but light on heavy weapons, of course.

27th Rhodesian fair to middling but good TO&E

Be sure the check the Rhodesian troops pockets for diamonds, 'ole Cecil was infamous for taking them out of the country. A few lucky finds and you can outfit all the new reinforcements in style, none of that balsa wood, bailing twine, or balloons for your troops.

***************Harbourmasters' office, Aden, March 18, 1942(e)************

Brigadier Wooten, 9th Aus Div: ...But, we have idle transports gathering rust? There is an emergency in Australia! The Japs are trying to take Melbourne!

Royal Navy Dude: I'm sorry sir. Your men are under the command on Northern Territory Command. They cannot
embark without an order from the Commander of Northern Territory Command entered in the log book....in person. Sorry sir, rules.

Brigadier Wooten, 9th Aus Div: Why..that's absurd. Do you mean to tell me that General Stevens has to physically travel to Aden to release us?

Royal Navy Dude: Afraid so, sir.

Brigadier Wooten, 9th Aus Div: I shall cable him straight away, then. <begins to leave>

Royal Navy Dude: I'm afraid that won't work either, sir.

Brigadier Wooten, 9th Aus Div: Why not?

Royal Navy Dude: Well sir, General Stevens can't leave Australia, sir. He has to be released by General Blamey. He's in Sydney, sir.

Brigadier Wooten, 9th Aus Div: Why, then I shall cable General Blamey, then.

Royal Navy Dude: Go ahead, sir....but it won't do any good.

Brigadier Wooten, 9th Aus Div: Because?

Royal Navy Dude: Well sir, it's the bloody Japs. The've cut the road and rail links to Alice Springs from Sydney.

Brigadier Wooten, 9th Aus Div: Bloody Hell! What about an air transport then?

Royal Navy Dude: Splendid idea, sir! There are two DC-2's waiting at Alice Springs?

Brigadier Wooten, 9th Aus Div: Now we are getting somewhere! I'll cable Alice Springs! <looks at other man's face> Let me guess? They are attached to RAAF HQ?

Royal Navy Dude: Hahaha. Oh, no sir. That's not a problem. They simply haven't the range to reach Port Augusta.

Brigadier Wooten, 9th Aus Div: <hand on face> So you are saying that the strongest unit in theatre, crucial to
defeat the Japs in the homeland, cannot do so because the Japs have invaded the homeland? That is quite a catch!

Royal Navy Dude: Oh, yes ir! Catch-22 the best!

You had better check the troop compliments assigned at Guam, you don't want to overload the island.

Is that a reference to your recent party which you spent mostly horizontal? Maybe they are reading this forum for people exhibiting risky behaviour!

Without even looking at that I am pretty sure it is from the Geology Oversight Committee of Congress. If I were the witness I don't think I would have been able to suppress the giggling. Your tax dollars at work.

Another thing occurs to me. JJ would not have been able to recon Melbourne before with proper recon aircraft. I suspect they may be surprised by 4 US regiments. What if we get a regiment into Hobart and build it up for heavies and an ammo resupply port for our
"useless" prewar BB's?

Of course, there is a whole other IJA army HQ prepped for Melbourne. Maybe there is a second wave or they are going to come overland?

We shall have to appeal to the League of Nations to get all the poor civilians out of Melbourne and Sydney.
