I considered sending a CA but I was worried about the Nettys at Kendari flying with Zeke coverage from Ternate.

Awful generous of Emperor Charles. Almost as generous as when he told his generals not to take orders from the American and British in France 1944.

I went over to Lowes. They have light bulbs that are likely to last longer than I am. Why would I buy something like that?

Theory & practice.

I had a bad feeling when the sub attacked the Jap SCTF. Clean sweep I suspect, a 15 pt AP, 1 pt AKL and a Marine Def Bn.

In the aerospace industry they have something called "MTBF' (Mean Time Before Failure). Of course, this would be a bit much for the average Lowes customer.

As an MD, what's the MTBF for humans?

I'm just curious why you had a 15 point xAP in with an xAKL? What was the speed differential-8 knots?

The 35 SBD's and 75 torpedo bombers at Taberfane and Dobo do NOT attack and the BB's which are only 80 miles away do not react. Broody annoying.

heh - I remember when the compact fluorescent bulbs came out, and they claimed 15 years for a bulb life... i was lucky if they went 1 year (multiple bulbs - i started writing the date but in service in magic marker on the base to check.) I notice they stopped advertising how long they would last not long afterwards.

I read where those bulbs are banned in Germany because of the mercury.

Along with other fluorescent bulbs like tubes? The little compacts really don't have much mercury.

I don't know, I just read about those compact ones. The LEDs I don't like because they are too bright, I prefer the soft white light bulbs. I prefer none on when I sleep but I can sleep during the day just fine . . .

****************January 14, 1943(e)*************

Sundas: I had this creepy feeling that our recon was crappy and JJ was planning something so I pulled the BB's back about 200 miles and sent a CA/DD group looping around Kai-elanden. Nothing happened other than a sub sinking a big Jap TK by Sulawese.
