SGA accompanied with CCTV journalist to report the rebel raid near Damascus. During the raid they discovered the chemical laboratory used by rebel forces. Many Chinese media outlets reported this is a conspired attack to draw NATO and UN attentions, but thwarted by local journalists:

http://www.cctvplus.com/news/20180315/8075934.shtml (With Video and shortlist)

This can be a scenario inspiration -- if US alone or NATO join forces to attack Syria, both Russia and China will prove the chemical attack isn't from the regime, but how likely they will stand together?

Israel has confirmed that it bombed a suspected Syrian nuclear reactor in 2007 and said that the strike should be a warning to Iran that it would not be allowed to develop nuclear weapons.

If they really said that recently instead of the following day after the strike, then it means Israel don't trust IAEA. Or it's just serving it as a political warning if Iran still meddle with Syria, which is actually under Russian's protection.

There is no doubt that the Israeli Minister of Intelligence, Israel Katz, has recently said that Israel will not allow Iran to have nuclear weapons. He tweeted this in both English and Hebrew today:

If the big gun, especially electrified, has a major problem to develop for US Navy, then the US Army may have the smaller, modest railgun come to service sooner:

http://www.thedrive.com/the-war-zone/19460/u-s-army-forges-ahead-with-its-railgun-as-navys-commitment-to-the-tech-is-questioned

The news also cited the Chinese naval railgun mounted on the ship has conducted numerous fire tests, alongside with the breakthrough of energy storage and output by Professor Ma's research team.

Can folks identify items on the demonstration screen? I see something that looks like a button to call up an OOB tree on the bottom left. Guys in the defense industry might recognize more than I can for sure. With CA 58 on the map and California City on the screen, this is a depiction near Edwards.

This time I would not post a link to quote about the “Trade War has begin” between US and China, because this news is everywhere right now. Their actions and reactions against tariff will also likely affecting their military decisions too.

Another land-grab situation when oil beneath the sea is rich, and there are some ships and a driller is stationing there. What? China is being evil again at SCS? How about this?

Radar absorbant meta-materials for the J-20 are being mass-produced now.

https://www.popsci.com/chinas-new-stealth-fighter-uses-metamaterials
http://www.newsweek.com/china-says-it-can-make-fighter-jets-invisible-cloaks-made-metamaterials-842167

quote:

China is mass producing metamaterials in a state-run lab that reportedly functions as 'invisibility cloaks' and could be used to make fighter jets impossible to detect, according to local media.

A broadcast by China Central Television Station (CCTV), revealed that a laboratory in Shenzhen, in southeastern China, is manufacturing various types of highly technological materials—including invisibility, anti-burning and anti-icing cloaks.

However, the functions of these materials have not yet been disclosed. Chinese news platform Sina reported that the assembly line is directly related to the military and the materials are likely to be used to camouflage J-20 fighter jets.

I find it quite amusing when metamaterial research was announced in 2013, and there are few news mentioned it later on but nobody cares. If not the DailyMail report it like some sort of uber-advanco artifact from aliens, then nobody will believe stealth can bypass radio waves by metamaterial, aside from absorbion and reflection.

Even US did research metamaterial 7 years ago and comes with a breakthrough, it just went silent. But it's no longer a secret R&D :

Interesting geography for scenario designers to consider:

https://warontherocks.com/2018/03/the-andaman-and-nicobar-islands-indias-eastern-anchor-in-a-changing-indo-pacific/

"Critically situated near the Malacca Strait, the Andaman and Nicobar Islands could significantly alter the maritime dynamics in the Indo-Pacific. While the islands have been envisaged as a platform for offensive capabilities, their true benefit today lies in furthering maritime domain awareness and maintaining a naval advantage for India and its friends."

Building a military is not just a long term commitment, but also a multitude of challenge to civilian and industrial sectors. Andrew Erickson persumed and wrote a book about PLAN's newest threat the US Navy is facing: maintenance uproars. Despite the truth of Chinese naval expansion is unshakable, it's just the beginning to prove how long they can keep these warships working for not just few years, but many decades or longer.

In the midst of Trade War, some readers and commenters believes Chinese military, especially PLAN will not be able to expand further, or even start to rust under the increasing debt and loss of profit from tariffs in the short future. But doubts also casted back to the author why PLAN would need to concern about this when both industrial costs and manpowers are vastly superior to US counterparts. Also wear and tear factor does applied to older PLAN vessels too and they are still serviceable:

Funny "unoficial" news from VVS :

- Su-35S cant use R-27R/ER missile(not perspective missile, MOD dont payfor integration), so only R-27ET and R-77-1 AAM
- Su-30SMs of first series(~50 planes) cant use R-77-1 , only R-27 family and export RVV-AE (inherit from Su-30MKI) , but since there is no RVV-AE in VVS they fly with R-27s
currently MOD consider upgrade programme for this planes (integration of R-77-1)

funny thing is sometimes on trials Su-35S, since there is shortage of R-77-1, fly with mockup/real R-27s that he cant use (and we have photos of this)
and Su-30SMs from first series fly with R-77-1 mockup they cant really use (and we also have photos of this)

also there is somthing like ~30 Su-30SMs of late series that can use R-77-1

consider all this rumours as "rumors"

also explain why Su-30SM in Syria don't use R-77-1 while Su-35S use them in same place , mystery solved !

It turns out that 65-76A torpedo is still in service in RuNavy.

http://weaponews.com/weapons/25856-unique-russian-65-76-torpedo-65-76a.html

Recently Russian military channel Zvezda, which has direct ties with Russian MOD, has shown the documentary about Akula class subs where it was stated that 65-76A is in service.

For a long time it was believed that those torpedoes were withdrawn from RuNavy after the Kursk disaster.

The SU-30SM story from TASS is interesting on two levels.
Firstly it appears to confirm the R-77-1 has been integrated on the SU-30SM.
Secondly it implies that the R-77-1 has only just been approved and adopted (i.e March 2018!) contrary to popular media mythos that it was adopted on the SU-30SM years ago.
Of course with the caveat that a government news agency may or may not be taken at face value.
One day a genuine picture of the SU-30SM with R-77-1 may finally confirm its status.
Regards
K.

So in other words, misinformation is worse than lack of transparency...
