It was the same route of the F-111 in the El Dorado Canyon strikes to Libya in 1986:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1986_United_States_bombing_of_Libya
quote:

For the Libyan raid, the United States was denied overflight rights by France, Spain, and Italy as well as the use of European continental bases, forcing the Air Force portion of the operation to be flown around France and Spain, over Portugal and through the Straits of Gibraltar, adding 1,300 miles (2,100 km) each way and requiring multiple aerial refuelings.[11] The French refusal alone added 2,800 km and was imposed despite the fact that France had itself been the target of terrorism directed by the Gaddafi government in Libya.[12] French president Mitterrand refused overflight clearance because the United States was interested in limited action in Libya while France was more interested in major action that would remove Gaddafi from power.[12]

"Turkish planes violate Syrian airspace" is in a relevant argument. The Syrians would be in the right to shoot down American planes Russian planes Turkish planes violate their airspace repeatedly. Doesn't change the fact that turkey was within its rights to shoot down the Russian plane. that's the end of the argument. Whether they should have or not is a different argument but clearly they were within their rights and international law

Photo in a exhibition of an Iranian Mi-171 helicopter with 2xC-802 Chinese anti-ship missile, but I think the radar, because the size and bad placement, is a simple weather radar more than a surface search radar: http://defence-blog.com/news/photos-of-iranian-mi-171-helicopter-with-version-of-the-chinese-c-802-missiles.html

Yeap Dysta. Also DB3000 can be tuned (remember a 3M-14 with less than 500 km of range)
Would be nice play a scenery of a limited escalation between Russia and Turkey.

Usually, positive red-herring answers means yes at high chances. News from official announcement of news conference at MoD of PRC:

http://eng.mod.gov.cn/DefenseNews/2015-11/26/content_4630603.htm

quote:

Q: Recently, there have been several terrorist incidents involving Chinese nationals. We have noticed the Chinese armed forces have conducted joint anti-terrorism exercises within the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) for many times. Will such joint anti-terrorism exercises be conducted beyond the scope of the SCO? For example, will China hold joint ant-terrorism exercises with European countries or the US?

According to Russian media reports, an official source of Russia disclosed that China and Russia had reached a deal on China’s purchase of 24 Su-35 fighter jets with a total value of 2 billion U.S. dollars. Could you please confirm?

A: The Chinese military is committed to international anti-terrorism cooperation. For example, counter-terrorism has been one of the important themes in the joint exercises and training between the Chinese and foreign armed forces. In recent years, the armed forces of the SCO member states have conducted 10 joint anti-terrorism exercises on both bilateral and multi-lateral basis, which has become a regular arrangement. Joint anti-terrorism exercises have become an important component in the SCO defense and security cooperation. According to the consensus reached during the SCO defense ministers’ meeting in St. Pittsburgh this year, the armed forces of the SCO member states will hold the next joint anti-terrorism exercise in Kyrgyzstan in 2016.

Besides, the Chinese armed forces has conducted joint training with the armed forces of Pakistan, India, Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore, Venezuela and Jordan with counter-terrorism as one of the training subjects. These joint exercises and training have played a positive role in deepening bilateral and multi-lateral military exchange, learning useful experience from each other and jointly improving the capabilities of coping with new threats and challenges. The Chinese side is always open to holding joint anti-terrorism exercise and training with foreign armed forces. As to the specific countries, it depends on mutual discussions and coordination.

As for the second question, both China and Russia are willing to carry out the Su-35 aircraft cooperation project. Through joint efforts, substantial progress has been achieved at the current stage. Both sides will continue to conduct cooperation in military technology based on the principle of equality and mutual benefit.

Q: The report from Tass said Russia planned to provide the first batch of S-400 air defense missile systems to China within 12 to 18 months, and the Russian government announced in April this year that it had signed a 3-billion-US-dollar contract with China on the S-400 air defense missile system.

According to the US Defense News, such air defense missile systems will greatly improve the air defense capability of the Chinese military. Could you please give your comments on this?

A: Air defense cooperation is an important part of China-Russia military technology cooperation. Relevant cooperation is going on according to plan.

The French clearly are outsiders in this program

DCNS Delivers its Final Proposal for Australia' SEA1000 Future Submarine Program
quote:

DCNS today lodged its final deliverables to the Australian Government’s Competitive Evaluation Process to select an International Program partner for the SEA1000 Future Submarine Program.

The proposal includes a Government to Government Agreement from The French Ministère of Defence’s Direction Générale de l’Armement (DGA) to the Commonwealth of Australia’s Department of Defence and a binding written commitment on key aspects of the deliverables.

This milestone has been achieved on schedule and marks the beginning of the Commonwealth of Australia’s evaluation phase.

Mr Sean Costello, CEO DCNS Australia, said “DCNS acknowledges the dedication from hundreds of people in France and Australia to the development of the Shortfin Barracuda Block 1A and a sovereign industry in Australia.”

“We have worked as a team to create the best possible solution for Australia’s future.”

Really? Unlike, say, the German proposal, the French one would be nuclear-powered, with all the advantages that brings.

Which country would need a nuclear-powered submarine with such of pathetic tonnage (4000t)?

S-400 regiment is two (from 2014 three)S-400 battalions , 18 Pantsir + regimental radar systems (well, also few other things)
So, this is just S-400 regiment

Are you sure? I always thought that DCNS would offer a non nuclear-powered version of the Barracuda class to Australia. I didn't find any details on the proposed propulsion system, but this source claims that it's diesel-electric.

Hmm interesting. I assumed it would be nuclear-powered, since the Barracuda is and the article called the Shortfin a SSN. Then again, a conventional SSK would also make sense for Australia since thry don't have the nuclear industry to refuel a SSN.

why somebody want to buy just one battalion without regimental radar?

generally speaking S-400 battalion don't include Pantsir , this is separate part of Russian S-400 regiment

two or three S-400 battalions , 18 Pantsir + regimental radar systems is how Russia sees S-400 regiment
Other country can have other thought

Well, if you want experimented with S-400 regiment dont forget that in "field" S-400 always have support from
jamming and ELINT systems (SPN series jammers, Vera,Ramona,Valeria ELINT stations)or combined Jammer/ELINT system , as example Kamchatka regiment supported by "Krasukha-4" system (two pair of ELINT and OECM vehicle) ,can be more but cant be less ,
also S-400 usually have assigned from RTV forces radars

All this is so called additional forces , they can be (and usually are) added to S-400 regiment depending on situation

Indeed, the Shortfin Barracuda for Australia, while based on the Barracuda SSN of the French Navy, is an SSK

New leaked images on the Type 901 40.000-50k tons AOE.

According to leaked specifications, it will be a Sino-Supply-class AOE, with fast speed (25+ knots) capable to keep up with China's future carrier-groups.

Seeing the images, the launch shouldnt be too far away.

Official Chinese media confirmation of the Su-35 deal!

http://news.xinhuanet.com/english/2015-11/26/c_134858791.htm

quote:

BEIJING, Nov. 26 (Xinhua) -- China confirmed a deal to buy Su-35 fighter jets from Russia on Thursday.

"The Su-35 fighter jet project is one of the areas in which China and Russia are willing to cooperate," said Chinese Defense Ministry spokesman Wu Qian in response to a question about the 2-billion-dollar deal.

The two countries will continue to enhance cooperation in military technology based on equality and mutual benefit, Wu said at a monthly press briefing.

While commenting on another question about Russia's plan to provide the first round of S-400 modern anti-aircraft missile systems to China within the next 12 to 18 months, Wu said cooperation is under way according to plans.

Air defense is an important part of China-Russia military technology cooperation, the spokesman added.

901 AOR , Su-35SK/MKK and a FOB are signals to look after the aerial and naval deployment and fortification at their very strings of Chjnese economy and global presence.

The mountain of global power is too big for a single superpower, and it's both allowing and demanding more tigers to rule. But what China must imminently needed is the logistic development. Without it, no matter how big the warships and planes are, they won't be settled anywhere else.
