It uses totally different doctrine than the US LRASM's stealthy approach. It just fly as high as possible then dive toward the target for terminal acceleration. Kinda like a ballistic missile, but smarter and smaller.

Sounds like a similiar approach as utilized by the Chinese CM-400AKG or the SY-400 missiles, both of which cruise at extremely high altitudes to both extend their range and evade enemy interceptors. Former is kinda an air-launched ballistic missile.

One thing in common: Datalink between missiles while in flight

That is why I said "smarter".

Russia to Activate a Coastal Defense Division Across from Alaska in 2018

The Russian Defense Ministry is planning the activation of a coastal defense division in Chukotka in 2018, the minister, Sergei Shoigu, has told journalists. "A coastal defense division is planned for activation in the Chukotka area of operations in 2018," he said.

The Chukotka Peninsula is the eastmost peninsula of Asia. Its eastern end is at Cape Dezhnev, the eastmost mainland point of Eurasia just 82 kilometres (51 mi) across from Cape Prince of Wales in Alaska; the Bering Strait lies between the two capes.

With at least 4 Burkes to load 200-300 of them, I don't think there is any current naval power except the USN themselves could intercept them all without a scratch. Japan will be extremely happy to buy them too.

New amphibs are cool, but I'm still waiting for that BMD/Arsenal ship to come to fruition.

I think to make current MK41-equipped ships armed with advance missiles have to be done, before the arsenal ship is put into the construction. Like I said from previous post, a fleet (around 3-7 Burkes and a Tico) loaded with huge amount of LRASM could do the disastrous damage already.

Funny thing is, the company's detail from this website is still haven't been updated at all. However, with such escalation between Russia and Ukraine, the only thing China could make a deal is to using the old, globally obvious method same as purchasing the unfinished Varyag, and its blueprints that way.

No wonder the US is extremely pissed to see China have such of flexibility to 'steal technologies' by using front companies to buy foreign corporations, and then gone into dark instantly. However, the true crime of technology 'espionage' is greed, with money there's always have a work around.

Since China can make Y-20 by themselves, it's only matter of time to acquire more complicated aircraft blueprints, and I think if that's true, acquire An-225 before An-124 is a smarter move because of the famousness, and the downward development for smaller tonnage planes is easier than redesign a bigger version of An-124.

ANTONOV COMPANY SIGNED COOPERATION AGREEMENT ON THE AN-225 PROGRAMME WITH AICC.
On August 30, 2016, ANTONOV Company included into Ukroboronprom SC and Aerospace Industry Corporation of China (AICC) signed Cooperation agreement on the AN-225 programme. In such way, the parties expressed their intensions as for long-term cooperation. The first stage of this interaction consists in construction of the second modernized AN-225 Mriya at ANTONOV Company and delivery of this aircraft to AICC. The second stage – organization of the joint series production of the AN-225 in China under licence of ANTONOV Company. Both stages will be realized in accordance with proper contracts.
Photo: fuselage of the second АN-225 at ANTONOV Company’s production facility.

------------------------------------------------------------

Basically, Ukraine finishes the 2nd An-225 and sell it to China. Future licence production agreement to be negotiated.

Well, even with one single An-225, China's power projection will be greatly boosted. Especially with the ongoing construction of the new Djibouti naval base.

China and Ukraine agree to restart An-225 production

http://www.janes.com/article/63341/china-and-ukraine-agree-to-restart-an-225-production

China and Ukraine have signed an agreement to recommence production of the Antonov An-225 'Cossack' strategic airlifter, media from both countries have reported.

The agreement signed between the Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC) and Antonov on 30 August gives China access to the aircraft's designs and technologies for the purposes of domestic production, according to China's STCN news organisation and the Ukrainian Business Channel (UBR).

Powered by six Progress D-18T engines and having demonstrated a world-record payload of 253.82 tonnes, the An-225 (named Mriya in Ukraine) is the largest transport aircraft ever to have flown. Having been originally built to carry the Soviet Buran orbiter, the aircraft made its maiden flight in 1988. Only one aircraft was ever finished to an airworthy standard and flown, and while work on a second example was begun it had become clear by mid-2001 that funding would no longer be provided and the project was shelved. The sole aircraft to be completed is now chartered by Antonov Airlines to fly outsized cargo throughout the world.

According to the reports, China now plans to fly the first of an unspecified number of An-225s in 2019.

Isn't the PLA military in need of real and sustainable airlift capability? Why would they choose to take on a 40-year old cargo plane that has only one flying example, is unproven as a full production aircraft, and requires significant maintenance to operate with any kind of regularity?

Unless they planning a space shuttle-type program, this is not well thought out. The last number I remember seeing stated that the current per plane cost is close to $400M. Although it being famous is surely a big factor...note the sarcasm...I would imagine you could buy at least a dozen An-124s.

Or they really want something to be delivered inland with titanic size, and deployable at mountainous region like Xinjiang and Tibet. They needs lots of large sized materials and construction devices for "One-Belt-One-Road" strategy westward.

It's beyond any kind of miracle if China really claimed they will made its maiden flight at 2019, let alone mass manufacturing them. Even military find it very difficult to use, unlike Y-20 that is big enough for most army hardwares, and lesser runway requirement.
