Strategic Map

as of April 30, 1943

1.) Though Captain Haggard's sailors get a tad surly when taking leave in exotic ports and keeping the Marine MPs busy, they continue to take a toll on Japanese ships.

2.) Though the Chinese are surrounded and trapped, they continue to hold Chengtu and Chungking.

3.) Though El Lobo has stuffed Burma with substantial ground forces, fighters, and bombers, the Allies continue to keep the pressure on the Japanese and captured Lashio and Shwebo.

4.) Allied troops, aircraft, and ships continued to flood the Hawaiian Islands and Operation Sea Shark is on schedule to depart the Hawaiian Islands on June 1, 1943 to invade the four southern Marianas Islands on or about June 15, 1943.

5.) The Strategic Map is shown below:

That's a swack of political pts!!....you planning something for Xmas with them all? Remember they are like Air Miles, use them before some pr... devalues them. Kidding aside, I never manage to accumulate that sort of store.

I haven't followed the Chinese theatre at all other than to vaguely believe they are on last legs. If they collapse before you launch the Grand Adventure you may be screwed. Is there any room to move up operation to ensure it comes off before that collapse?

PP—

Whenever I call Admiral Bravo, his greeting goes something like this: "Hey, Commander, what can I do for you—and it better not cost any political points."

He's got a shopping list, though—that sum is due to dwindle markedly.

pontiouspilot-

On April 30, 1943, The Allies spent 2,169 political points to buy out the U.S. Army 7th Infantry Division in San Francisco. The 7th is loading on transports at San Francisco bound for Pearl. Among other troops, the 7th will hit the beach at Saipan.

For Operation Sea Shark, political points received during the month of May will be used to buy-out two Canadian Infantry Brigades (the 16th at Vancouver and the 18th at Victoria). Among other troops, both of these brigades will hit the beach at Rota.

I believe that Chengtu and Chungking will hold for quite some time. El Lobo has pulled several Japanese Infantry Divisions from the siege of Chengtu and they are moving to take the road winding Southwest from Chengtu through the mountains toward Tsyung. Chengtu has approximately 2,750 AV with a fort level of almost two. Chungking has approximately 7,750 AV behind a fort level of five. They have been short of supply for over a year, but have become quite accurate with sling-shots.

I can't really push-up the launch date for Operation Sea Shark. Everything was planned for leaving the Hawaiian Islands on June 1, 1943. Everything won't be ready to launch until shortly before that date.

I do agree with you that if either Chengtu or Chungking falls in the near future, Operation Land Shark (the Allied push from Burma to Korea) will be screwed. El Lobo already has substantial ground force strength in Burma. If he can free-up additional Japanese ground forces in China to march toward Burma...well...it won't be a pretty landscape for the Allies.

*chuckling*

Best Regards,

-Terry

The Allies deliberately attacked the Japanese near Toungoo today. I didn't want to get my Base Forces damaged so I set them to "Reserve." Oooops! The Japanese retreated into Prome with the Base Forces in pursuit. I think that today I will see two Allied Base Forces in Prome facing a substantial Japanese ground force. Oooops!

Yeah, recent patches introduced the split Reserve mode: Reserve (Pursuit) and Reserve (No Pursuit). I doubt the BFs are fast enough to pursue all the way to Prome, so next turn you should be able to cancel their movement and save their bacon.

You're right again.

Allied Base Forces did not chase the Japanese into Prome and are safe in the jungle outside of Prome.

Not sure, haven't really checked the pools. I just have automatic pilot selection, reinforcements, and upgrades turned on.

P-39s were developed with simple turbo superchargers but they were not in the production models keeping their affect altitude below 15,000 feet. Any higher combat and they are sluggish dogs and easy meet for your opponents. Layer CAP and keep them lower where they have a chance with their heavier guns. The Russians loved them for ground support and lend-lease found thousands of them shipped to them.

I have set their altitude to 15,000 feet.

I hope that helps, but facing those damn Zeros and Georges is devastating.

Question

for

The War College

Gentlemen-

I have four Corsair Squadrons that I flew off Allied Carriers onto Pearl Harbor. The Squadrons are VMF-112; VMF-113; VMF-123#; and VMF-124# (all Marine Squadrons).

The Aircraft Squadron Screen for each of these Squadrons do not show these Squadrons as being Carrier Capable.

Are these four Squadrons not Carrier Capable?

A photo of the Aircraft Squadron Screen for VMF-112 is below.

Best Regards,

-Terry

F4U-1 is the first Corsair, and it is not carrier capable. No hooking gear in RL as far as I remember. All the next models will be

Service Rating 3 IIRC. Useful aircraft but would not be ideal for carrier duty.

Thank you for your speedy response, you two.

Damn! 72 less fighters for Operation Sea Shark.

However, it is good to have 72 Corsairs to move up to the front lines...somewhere.

Best Regards,

-Terry

Opening Comments

*backing up the huge heavily-loaded truck, managing to avoid numerous Allied dud artillery rounds in the process, shutting off the noisy engine, getting out, walking to the back, hopping up onto the bed of the truck, gazing out over the Americal Division sprawled about, and shouting out*

"Step right up! Get your poncho while they last! Only two eighty-five! The first hundred get free Malaria tablets and a free photo of Tokyo Rose in the buff!"

*nods lots singing out*

"Monsoon a comin' round the bend,
don't be gittin' wet my friend,
this is one hell of a buy,
keep them nuts warm and dry!"
