What can you do elsewhere knowing that the entirety of the IJN is busy on the West Coast? It's not like the Japanese will be able to mount any sizable counter-invasions anytime soon.

Hitler tried the master race breeding program but didn't last long enough to have it be effective. Idoubt the game will go into 1956 when you first feel the affects of the 1942-43 breeding program.

West Coast
_____________________________________________________________________________

Hi guys. Sorry for the lack of updates. We managed 2 turns since the last one but there have been very little to report. In fact nothing really has happened...yet! I expect next turn to be violent though.

Allied strike planes will sortie tomorrow escorted by 150 fighters. 100 P40Ks will sweep (hopefully in advance). I´m holding the real hammer back until KB arrives though.

Wow! I've been away too long! Some interesting discussions here.

I guess it's a natural progression, from games, to beer and scotch and eventually ...

Empire strikes back!
_____________________________________________________________________________

Didn´t really expect this. Not going to complain to badly though as Japan has diverted CVs to the least important vector. Not sure how much will sink. Most likely 6 or so. Luckily there is only Motorized support left on the ships.

I will move some CAP in tomorrow from Townesville.

Allies strike!
_____________________________________________________________________________

Lots and lots of attacks. All on the same convoy though. FOW makes it hard to estimate losses as one attack says "XXX sinks" only for the same ship to show up in the next attack. Some good hits though. Lots and lots of TT duds too....

His losses will hurt a lot more than yours Jocke! Very surprised he did not have any LRCAP and sent the ships in anyway.

What is the game date, please?

Yeah, I don´t really care about the losses. Mostly annoyed I didn´t have CAP up. But its been so quiet I decided I was better off strengthening the PM CAP instead...serves me right for getting complacent!

Its February 10th I think!

I´m starting to wonder if he even brought KB with him to the WC!

Got the turn and all I find despite VERY good NavS is a small TF that looks more like a couple of CS/CVEs rather than KB....

Had hoped to get the replay during the night as I´m pretty curious about the WC. Nothing yet though.

I officially scrubbed Pencil II. Troops are reprepping for other targets. ETA "soon". More on that in a future update. In fact I spent most of the turn changing prepp on various troops all over the globe. Spring and summer will see the allies advance on a very broad front.

might consider switch to bombs on those Torpedo bombers. Bombs will mess up AK's &AP's and you will probably get many more hits. if you persist with torpedoes just check your stocks, one normally would not use them from these bases so you might need to restock

Waste of imitative and resources to attack xAP ans XAKs at Kirakira. Sinking ten merchants does not come close to compensating for revealing where KB is. Very poorly thought out on his behalf. Perhaps he just could not think of anything else to do.

Size of the strike package makes me think it's Junyo/Hiyo and nothing more.

I think its meant to slow me down a bit. Make me wait for airfields to get operational before launching the next invasion.

No turn today so no update. Maybe tomorrow.

San Diego evacuated!
_____________________________________________________________________________

The Japanese have evacuated San Diego and all troops have moved to Camp Pendleton where a large scale evacuation seems to be taking place. A bloodbath is taking place in the harbor though and I´m not sure the evacuation will succeed...

Sorry for being a bit lazy with the formatting but it takes a lot of time to format it my usual way.

What are the port levels of the bases the Japanese control on the West Coast? It will take forever to load heavy equipment. My guess is the Japanese load what they can in one day and run for safety. Otherwise the risk of loss just escalates.

The bigger issue is what are the Japanese plans for the troops at L.A.? Is the extraction of troops from S.D. just a diversion to soak off your strength before the real evacuation is attempted? The lack of support for the S.D. operation is what makes my spidey sense tingle. Can you get some subs in the area? Should be a target rich environment, and any ASW efforts should reveal presence of KB.

Port levels are 1 and 0.

Not really sure what he is going to do with the LA troops. Whatever he has planned has to happen very soon. Four days and the troops will be cut off.

Havn´t gotten the turn yet so I don´t know if KB is spotted this turn. Wasn´t last turn!

Thats some fine ships he throws away. Japan has plenty of xAKs but only limited AKs. I find those very valuable, especially the fast ones.

Looks like he is using the FT "Pick up troops" option - I think all those ships are capable of FT missions.

I have a Pendleton up near Seattle but well inland on the stock map and nothing called Camp Pendleton near SD. What scenario map are you using?

Yeesh.

Have you tried Notepad++? In "programming school", all the early exercises on reading, writing, and formatting text are extreeeeeeeemely tedious. I'll pass .

To clarify a bit what I would like: I want to just paste the text into a box or whatever and the program then adds the formatting for colors, size, quotes, bold text and whatnot. The program would have to recognize where to put the formatting and stuff and its way beyond what I can do. The actual format are just text within brackets.

This is how my usual formatting of ground combat looks like:

quote:

Ground combat at Milne Bay (101,133)

Allied Deliberate attack

Attacking force 3135 troops, 100 guns, 23 vehicles, Assault Value = 215

Defending force 420 troops, 0 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 16

Allied adjusted assault: 170

Japanese adjusted defense: 3

Allied assault odds: 56 to 1 (fort level 0)

Allied forces CAPTURE Milne Bay !!!

Combat modifiers
Defender: terrain(+), leaders(-), fatigue(-)
Attacker:

Japanese ground losses:
198 casualties reported
Squads: 4 destroyed, 7 disabled
Non Combat: 2 destroyed, 2 disabled
Engineers: 0 destroyed, 0 disabled
Units retreated 1

Allied ground losses:
16 casualties reported
Squads: 0 destroyed, 2 disabled
Non Combat: 0 destroyed, 0 disabled
Engineers: 0 destroyed, 0 disabled

Defeated Japanese Units Retreating!

Assaulting units:
1st Australian Division

Defending units:
2nd Indpt SNLF Coy

Its a PITA to do it manually when there are loads of attacks. Air attacks are usually more numerous and takes even longer if there are several I want to show. That quote above takes about 2 minutes to do. Now imagine if there are 5 attacks...and 10 air combats I want to show. It can take up to about 30 mins to manually edit in all the formatting sometimes. Then add a few screens and some screen editing and just doing the screens and formatting can take up to an hour.

Thats some fine ships he throws away. Japan has plenty of xAKs but only limited AKs. I find those very valuable, especially the fast ones.

Yep, a nice catch for the allies!

Not too complicated, but tedious.
