March 19th-20th 1942 ______________________________________________________________________________ Well, good results but not good enough. ------------------------ NORPAC/WC ------------------------ Strangely enough the CAP was still pretty weak on the 19th. The P40s hit first and did okay considering the pilots are very green. quote:
Morning Air attack on Coal Harbour , at 204,49 Weather in hex: Severe storms Raid spotted at 44 NM, estimated altitude 25,000 feet. Estimated time to target is 15 minutes Japanese aircraft A6M2 Zero x 23 Allied aircraft P-40E Warhawk x 24 Japanese aircraft losses A6M2 Zero: 3 destroyed Allied aircraft losses P-40E Warhawk: 4 destroyed This was followed by the P38s. Sadly I lost one on the return home. quote:
Morning Air attack on Coal Harbour , at 204,49 Weather in hex: Severe storms Raid detected at 43 NM, estimated altitude 21,000 feet. Estimated time to target is 9 minutes Japanese aircraft A6M2 Zero x 12 Allied aircraft P-38E Lightning x 17 Japanese aircraft losses A6M2 Zero: 2 destroyed Weather was bad which of course effected the results. The usual fragmentation occurred with 2 bigger raids followed by a gazillion fragments. CAP was already worn out though so it didn´t matter. This is the first strike. We hit A LOT of planes on the ground (overstack?) but very few runway hits. quote:

Estimated time to target is 6 minutes Japanese aircraft A6M2 Zero x 1 Allied aircraft B-17E Fortress x 15 Japanese aircraft losses A6M2 Zero: 1 damaged B5N1 Kate: 3 destroyed on ground H6K4 Mavis: 1 destroyed on ground G3M2 Nell: 1 destroyed on ground Allied aircraft losses B-17E Fortress: 5 damaged Runway is hardly scratched and I seriously doubt I managed to close it. Jeff continues to hit Portland. quote:
Afternoon Air attack on Portland , at 213,56 Weather in hex: Clear sky Raid detected at 67 NM, estimated altitude 9,000 feet. Estimated time to target is 26 minutes Japanese aircraft A6M2 Zero x 8 G3M2 Nell x 4 Japanese aircraft losses G3M2 Nell: 2 damaged Manpower hits 12 Fires 1073 Still no damage. I think the raid shook him up a bit though. Nothing flew on the 20th and the KB moved in to provide CAP. No point in trying again as long as KB is there. Once it leaves though...with some luck I can continue to pin the KB in NORPAC for quite some time. ------------------------ China ------------------------ Another attack on the Ankang road. quote:

Jeff has also started pushing up from the south capturing some bases down there. I´ll get a map up later today. Elsewhere its quiet.
