Does Middle East run on Linux WINE? Yes!! The above is a screenshot of the latest Middle East game engine EXE running on Ubuntu Linux 14.04 LTS with the default Linux WINE. Setup was straightforward: Go to the Ubuntu Software Center, download and install Linux WINE; then use winetricks to apply vcrun2008 (to fetch and install the needed mfc90.dll). No fuss, no muss. I have not tested this extensively; I don't know yet that everything absolutely and positively works. But so far, so good! I have run the Middle East.exe frontend launcher, launched several scenarios. And from the Linux command line, launched and ran through an entire automated A/I test game. Display, sound, mouse, hot keys -- everything seems fine! Is it possible that Middle East will run on WINE for Mac OS X? Maybe. We'll see!
