M/A 40 Allies 9

No DoW.

USSR, China Land. CW, US Combined. France Pass.

CW launches a port-strike on La Spezia with the 3 Swordfish. Surprise rolls Axis 8, Allies 2. Allies have 3 points. They use it to reduce AA from lowest 1 of 2 to lowest 1 of 3. It proves a good decision when the rolls come up 4, 7, 1.

After the 1-point reduction, the Allies are left with an X and 2D. The Italian Trans takes the X. Where would they like the D to go?

D on BB Vittorio Veneto.

"Should I fly both fighters to West Med? How good port strike can they do from box 2? Not that good we need to be worried, let's fly both fighters...."

The Italians look worried as their shiny new BB disappears under a cloud of smoke and explosions. When the dust settles, they breathe a sigh of relief. Near misses only, causing cosmetic damage, soon fixed. Across the bay, however, the burning hulks of the last of their merchant shipping tell a different story.

One time in an face to face game I chose one of those beautiful Italian battleships for an X result.
I rolled a 1 or a 2 and cursed myself. That day, I was Admiral Desinkwithbrio...

Japan does not look too good right now. I wonder whether the Soviet campaign in Manchuria can end well for them in time to rail units back to face a tougher opponent.

Best regards

I took a calculated risk with D. I also have lost Italian BB after rolling 1 or 2... That hurts!

I wouldn't be so negative on Japan...yes, its less than ideal, and not where you would want to be...but I think it can still be turned into a positive with a new strategy. Focus on Japan being a naval power, which is something you have to do later anyway. You can still control the coastal and near coastal areas.

Evening Admiral,

You're not the only one wondering. Although, in my case, perhaps would be a more apt representation.

M/A 40 allies 9: Naval Movement

CW uses their 2 naval moves to repair the convoy lines as best they can.

Nationalists make a couple of minor adjustments.

CW recaptures Nairobi and moves up on Tunis.

Communists re-capture Tungkwan and Poating.

USSR declares 1 land combat at Kirin. The Communists declare 1 east of Tungkwan. CW 1 at Tunis.

At Tunis CW adds 9 points of shore bombardment. Mao and Zhukov chip in for their efforts. The Soviet air force sends 3 Lnd plus Ftr to Kirin. Having finished tea, CW sends the Hampdens to Tunis.

Japan can fly a 1 factor Lnd and 5 factor Ftr in defence of Kirin. Do they wish to?

Yes please, that's why those planes are there. Land FTR same hex it started and bomber to Pyongyang. I call assault or blitz after I see final odds.

The two Ftr's dogfight until out of fuel and ammo, while the bombers proceed on their merry way.

I'm guessing "Yes please" means "Fire away, all guns blazing" and commit all shots.

The 8 points gives lowest 1 of 4. Rolls are 9, 5, 6 ... oh, oh ...2. The Pe-2 scatters 2/3 rds of it's bombs wildly.

Final odds. Combat tables?

Sorry, I killed in order of the previous instructions. Which would you like and I can redo if necessary. You are correct, the AA is disorganised anyway. I suppose the only time you might not commit all shots would be if there were 2 or more air attacks in range.

Can you retreat INF div? if shattered, AT gun would have been good.

With no transporters left INF div is all I can try to save from Africa

2 units are destroyed the other is either shattered or retreats. I get the choice and choose to retreat it. You can choose which 2 units to destroy. Would you prefer to keep the AT gun?

Edit: Just read above post. Inf Div retreats.

I would like to keep INF div. I should not have wrote anything about kill order in first post as I did not know about result. Thank you and sorry for the trouble.

Edit: Just read your last edit. In the future I try not to be too clever and give instructions in advance.

Yes sir! Blitz it is. Japan takes little risk and hopes that Zhukov leads attack to a trap...

Zhukov leads the Soviet forces but not into the hoped for trap. Who do the Japs wish to shatter?

Artillery is shattered.

No air rebases or reorgs.

Turn ends on a 2.

No partisans appear.

USSR puts a marker to defence. Where do the Germans wish to put theirs?
