Turn 26. Nov/Dec 1943. Allied #9. USN. Atlantic CP Routes.

The allies had no organized CPs in position to replace any of the 4 CPs force out of the Arabian Sea by a Japanese I-boat unit. The USN was able to put 3 CPs into the East Coast and North Atlantic, which allowed the CW to temporarily replace the 3 non-oil RPs being sent through the Arabian Sea to factories in the UK with oil points that were being saved in Canada.

Of course, the German u-boat unit patrolling in the North Atlantic would have something to say about this.

Turn 26. Nov/Dec 1943. Allied #9. German U-boat Unit. North Atlantic.

The German u-boat unit in the North Atlantic does make contact, but fortunately for the allies so do they.

Turn 26. Nov/Dec 1943. Allied #9. Germany. North Atlantic.

Maybe the German u-boat unit in the North Atlantic should have stayed quite on the matter.

Turn 26. Nov/Dec 1943. Allied #9. Western Allies. Italian Coast.

Off the Italian Coast the Western Allies manage to force the Italian NAV to abort. Though this clears the Italian Coast of any axis units and puts out of supply any axis units requiring supply through that sea area, the result was disappointing because the allies only managed an abort with +8 odds against the NAV.

In the Western Med the allies try but fail to engage the Luftwaffe unit operating there.

Turn 26. Nov/Dec 1943. Allied #9. Western Allies. Italy. Austria. Balkans.

With the USA taking a naval the western allies conducted no land attacks. However, the CW did manage to take Zara, Zara on the coast of the Adriatic Sea.

Turn 26. Nov/Dec 1943. Allied #9. USN. Bay of Bengal.

Moving to the Pacific, the USN used the naval to bring in an SCS to the 1 box which will allow it to directly escort the CW convoys in the 0-box next turn. There was no danger of a Japanese (non-phasing) initiated combat because the lone Japanese sub there was disorganized.

Turn 26. Nov/Dec 1943. Allied #9. USN. Japanese Coast.

Off the Japanese Coast slow moving "captured" Italian subs intransient to better hunting grounds in either the China or South China Sea elects not to expose itself by trying to initiate combat.

Turn 26. Nov/Dec 1943. Allied #9. USN. The Marianas.

The USN in the Marianas manages to force the pesky Japanese fighter unit flying there to abort. But at the cost of a destroyed, but older, US fighter unit.

Turn 26. Nov/Dec 1943. Allied #9. USN. South China Sea.

In the South China Sea the USN, supported by the CW, is able to find, surprise and isolate the Japanese fleet in the 0-box, which includes their unloaded transports and CPs.

Turn 26. Nov/Dec 1943. Allied #9. USN. South China Sea. Naval Air Battle.

A vicious fight to the death by the Japanese air to air and ship to air battle takes place. But, the USN gets enough planes through to sink both IJN transports and force one of their light aircraft carriers to abort. Even through both Japanese transports were empty it looks now that the better decision would have been to put these transports in the China Sea and no task force in the 4 box of the South China Sea. But hindsight is 20/20.

The battle ends after a single round this impulse but the loss of 2/3 of the remaining Japanese lift has to be crippling to their ability to reinforce their conquests.

Turn 26. Nov/Dec 1943. Allied #9. CW. Land Combat. Kota Bharu, Malaya.

The CW continues their land attack against the surviving Japanese forces in Malaya. The attack fails but the CW loses no units. This attack failure is essentially bloodless.

Turn 26. Nov/Dec 1943. Allied #9. CW. Malaya. Dutch East Indies.

CW and French troops start a slog down the east coast of Sumatra and towards the oil fields at Palambang.

By the way, the CW has worked out an agreement with the USA that will allow the USN to use Singapore as its major West Pacific base until such time it can capture and repair a major naval base in the South China or China Sea.

Turn 26. Nov/Dec 1943. Allied #9. USSR. Southern Front.

The Soviets toyed with the ideal of an attack on the 3 unit German stack just south of Timoshenko, but the odds just that good (< 5A) and the attack would likely have been an assault. The Soviets could ill afford to lose 3 units so they choose not to attack.

Note the lone 2-3 MIL acting as bait to induce the Germans to attack, stop their strategic retreat and development of a coherent defense all across the front. The Soviets wonder if the Germans will take the bait or not?
