I had a friend who became aware of this pattern. She admitted if she walked into a room with 99 great guys and one jerk, she'd only notice the jerk. The day I met her I got a lot of "buy" signals from her, but when she realized I wasn't her type, they shut off. We did become fairly good friends after that.
