The Americans react VERY badly to the news emanating from Moscow....

The Soviet Union orders the reserves to be called out.

Here follows a broadcast from the General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union.

“My beloved Peoples of the Soviet Union. You know me as your happy-go-lucky-cheekie-chappie-salt –of-the-earth type of boy-next-door leader. Indeed here is a reminder of the face that you have come to know and love as I spread my benevolent, paternal leadership upon my happy peoples; my happy face":

....."But in the last few months my happy face has been seen less and less. Even though I have had the enormous pleasure of agreeing to accept the requests (nay pleading) by the Finns, the Poles, the Baltic peoples and those of Bessarabia & Northern Bukovina to be allowed to join the Soviet Union, my joy at helping these people has been soured by the actions of the Emperor of Imperial Japan.

The Emperor has continually got up my grill an’ ****. First he threw a 6 or something and badly wounded my good friend MaoTseTung then, more recently, he has been really annoying. I can’t actually remember why, but I am sure it was something serious. Anyway the point is, I now wear my sad face. As a result, I must announce that a state of war exists between our two countries".

Sad Face

Land: China
Naval: CW and France
Combined: USSR and USA

No Port Attacks

The British send a Beaufighter to the Bay of Biscay

The Soviets send submarines to the Japanese Coast and the China Sea.

I shall now hand back to Ormster for the naval movement.

It has been a long day today so I will retire for the night. I think I will be able to do the naval moves tomorrow.

Apologies for hijacking your thread. Just curious as to starting these PBEM games, do you set up for Head to Head or solitaire?

USA escorts the convoys along the East Coast.

The French TRS is now available to the Allies. The French CA in Gabon, however, will not be available until next turn.

The Dutch TRS load a Indian FTR2 and sail to the Red Sea.

The majority of the French and CW ships leave port in order to escort all the convoys that connects the two Empires.

There are four sea areas for the Allies to initiate in or not. They decline the Western Mediterranean but wish to pursue searches in the other three.

Do the Italians want to bring in any aircraft? They have two fighters, a Stuka and the Z.501?

The French and Dutch submarines patrolling off the coast of Sardinia find the Italian convoy. Am I right in saying the convoy is toast?

Next up is the Japanese Coast where the medium submarines Shch 126-130 inc were deployed off the southern coast of the Japanese island of Honshu.

With searches of 7 and 10 there is no combat

On next to the China Sea where submarines Shch 131-134 and 139 are tasked with intercepting the key convoy route between China and Japan.

With searches of 5 and 6 there is no combat

No Strategic Bombing

One Ground Strike: Soviet Su-2Ms flying from Vladivostok attempt to take out the Manchurian TERR in the mountains northwest of Kirin.

The Soviet pilots of the first wave were wayward (8), but the second wave saved the day (1). The bombers return to Vladivostok.

Rail
The Soviets send Yeremenko to Novosibirsk.
The US rail the 45th Infantry Corps to Nou Joiysee

Land
The Chungking militia moves two hexes East.
The Chinese MOT moves southwards to the hex NE of Kweiyang.
The cavalry division moves to the hex west of Chihkiang.

The Soviets send Koniev and the 4th Guards Mechanised south from Khabarovsk along the west bank of the Ussuri River with orders to meet up with the 1st Mountain Army setting out from Vladivostok toward Harbin.
From the north the Mongolian Cavalry make contact with the Manchurian TERR guarding Tsitsihar.

A Canadian Hurricane rebases to Halifax.
The Indian Hurricane in the Red Sea is debarked to Suez.
The Swordfish in Spanish Sahara rebases onto HMS Illustrious.

The two Soviet 7-range bombers in Khabarovsk are rebased to Vladivostok and Environs.

As a highly unworthy homage to the great spirit of 1914, it is time to call a truce to hostilities .

I wish our noble opponents and the followers and contributors to our AAR's a joyous Christmas in whichever way they choose to spend this time of the year.

To sign off in the words of the great Dave Allen

J/A 41 Axis 2

Japan DoW's the CW. The US is outraged (5 rolled, 3 chits to the Jap pool). In all the fuss, the Japanese alignment of Siam goes unnoticed (8 rolled).

Germany, land. Italy and Japan Combined, with Japan committing their O-chit to make it a Super-combined.

Italy sends a NAV to East Med 4-box and another to Cape St Vincent 4-box. The Germans send their He-100 to the CSV 2-box.

Japan sails a TRANS and AMPH loaded with Imp. Guards and Tokyo Mil to the South China Sea 3-box. The SNLF loads onto a Trans and goes to the 2-box. Both boxes are joined by 3 BB's. TRANS from China loads INF from Tokyo to China Sea 0-box. 2 CA's load 2 MAR Divs at Osaka and head to the Coral Sea 3-box. Subs sail to Cape Naturaliste 3 and 2-boxes and Bay of Bengal 1-box. 2 CA's to Southeast Indian Ocean 3-box. 2 CA's to Bay of Bengal 3-box. Plus a few escorts.

Italy sends a sub from La Spezia to CSV 2-box.

Areas for possible naval combat.

East Med.

The Italians add a fighter to the 1-box. CW could add Hurricane to 0-box and Whitley to the 1-box. Any takers?

Searches: Axis 4, Allies 4. Axis choose naval-air. The Allied AA fire is relatively ineffectual (4,6,2,1,2 - lowest 1 of 5). The Italians use 2 surprise points to boost the result to a D. They target the French BB but only do enough to send it back to port for a short refit.

Italy declines the West Med.

Cape St Vincent.

The Italians initiate with the NAV in the 4-box and add a NAV to the 2 box. The Allies can commit up to 5 aircraft to the 1 box (Hurricane, Swordfish and Fairey) and 2-box (Harrow and F2A). Any this time?
