Why move them there? They can set up there. The planes especially - if their pilots are marked for internment (as opposed to interment ) - need to be 7 movement point away from any German 6-moving armor or that darn SP AT.

The non-aerial units yes. However, for the planes, to take advantage of the pilots you need to send them to a neutral minor, not to Eastern Poland, being the relevant rule this one, not only for Poland like the other but for any Power:

quote:

Option 58: (Internment) A minor country aircraft unit can rebase into a neutral minor country. An aircraft unit that does that is destroyed. (PiF option 28: but the pilot survives).

I guess if you leave your planes in E. Poland you don't get the pilots, cause nothing authorizes that in the other rule, you just get the plane for you force poll, later on.

There is a comment right on this in the Clarifications but it's criptic because of it's laconic-ism.

If the pilots (and their planes) get overrun or ground struck by the Germans before they can be interned, then they will be interred instead. So you put them out of reach in East Poland. This also means Russia does not invade East Poland until impulse 4, so that those planes can rebase as per the rule you quote, in Impulse 2. They are interned per that rule not under the same conditions as the HQ and Div.

I will use Jagdtiger14's Polish set up (I believe Orm's set up is stronger. But Orm got to set up the Japanese).

One Ge/It US entry chit was added for Germanys DoW of Poland.

Orm as Japan do you wish to align Siam

I suggest Japan align Sian sometime during 1940 when the US entry chits are lower.

Ok no Japanese alignment of Siam at this time.

Which Japanese action type for the impulse (Naval, Air, Land, Combined, or Pass)

Germany will take a Land action.

Italy will take a Combined action.

Don't worry we are not trying to play and entire game.

I would take a land impulse to achieve the pre-planned goals.

Here is the file for you Orm

Is this option working correctly

quote:

Surprised ZOCs [RAW option 20 section 2.2]

This optional rule can have a major impact on play balance in the game. It eliminates the ZOC of units who
are surprised. This lets a player who declares war and gains the benefit of surprise, to move land units through
holes in an enemy line. If the surprised player doesn't have a contiguous line of units forming his front line, it
will be easy for the attacker to put out of supply and/or isolate a lot of the defending units by penetrating to
the rear and cutting off their supply.

When this optional rule is used, no surprised unit has a ZOC during the impulse that it is surprised.

When manually switched on after the game is started it doesn't remove surprised units ZoC's.

I was just testing this option and will not change the options of the current scenario.

As far as I know the optional rule 'Surprised ZOCs' are not yet implemented in the game so there is no wonder that there is no changes.

But it does surprise me that you can change the optional rule to 'on' during the game. Is this a bug?

Japanese plans for the rest of the impulse.

No naval air. No strategic bombing. No carpet bombing.

Japan ground strikes Changsha with the D3A2 naval bomber and return the aircraft to Nanchang.

No rail movement.

Japan moves its land units as previously planned with minor adjustments depending on the ground strike. If the ground strike fails then Japan moves as shown in the picture below. The HQI in Manchuria is not included in the picture but it moves two hexes SW [69,144] into China (putting the fighter in supply).

Japan attacks Pakhoi with the three land units. With maximum shore bombardmend and the ground support of two CVP the final odds is +20. That is the only attack Japan makes unless the ground strike has some success.
