Here is the FR scrap. The P-36A did not show up in the FR or the US scrap options (no US screen came up for me at all).
The axis did not scrap anything.

That is correct. France cannot scrap the plane. The US should demand the return of the plane and can scrap it themselves.

MA40. Trade. Allied.

The USA immediately makes use of newly selected option 15, "Resources to Western Allies", by sending 3 oil points to the CW.

MA40. Initiative. First Roll.

The allies win the first roll 6 to 5. The axis can request a re-roll.

Do you wish to re-roll?

No re roll

The allies elect to go first. And below is the weather roll. It'll be tomorrow before I get to my impulse.

MA40. Allied #1. Weather.

MA40. Allied #1. Actions.

During the Naval Air Phase:

(1) France flew their Latecoere sea plane out of Marseilles to the 3-box of the Western Med.

(2) The CW flew their Belenheim bomber out of Malta to the 4-box of the East Med.

MA40. Allied #1. RN. Italian Coast.

The only area of possible naval conflict is off the Italian Coast. I elect to use the York to try to initiate a naval combat.

Do you wish to fly add any air units to the battle? If so, which ones and to which sea box?

MA40. Allied #1. East Med.

The search rolls go just enough in the allied favor for them to select a sub combat. With no surprise points left to increase damage the result is that both the RN sub and Italian CP unit are aborted.

With the RN sub unit aborted and with the CA York possessing a "0" bombardment factor the RN decides it's best to abort now while they're still ahead. The RN aborted sub goes to Malta, the CA York to Gibraltar and the Italian CP to La Speiza.

MA40-3 Axis
Actions: GE-combined, IT - Naval, JP - Land

Below are possible naval combats. The first is in CSV, the IT sub 5044 (2 pt'er) initiates. The CW can react the Hampden out of Gibraltar. Will it and to what box?

Rolls of 6 and 5 for the axis and allies respectively, resulting in no contact.

In the North Atlantic, the rolls are a 5 and 1 respectively. Leaving the Allies with choices.

Done. No combat initiated in the Baltic.

The following is the only land attack. Normally, I would have assumed an assault, but that may not be accurate for China currently. Your choice.

MA40. Allied #5. Weather Roll.

A late winter storm blankets Europe even though the calendar says it's spring. In fact, miserable weather blankets the globe with storms in the Med, rain in the tropics and storms below the equator.

MA40. Allied #5. The Baltic.

The French sub in the Baltic attempts to initiate combat but both searches are unsuccessful (allied 5, axis 3).

MA40. Allied #5. North Atlantic, Cape St. Vincent.

In these two areas the allies elect not to initiate combat. Since no additional allied naval or air units were added to these two areas the axis, as the non-phasing player, aren't given the opportunity to try.

I'm sure Pat when his impulse comes around will attempt to initiate combat and sink more of my CPs.

MA40. Allied #5. The Italian Coast. Surprise Points.

The RN uses their surprise points to maximize damage. I'm making the "bold" assumption that you wish the destroyed roll applied to the CP and the two damage rolls applied to the loaded TRS.
