JA41 i6: Naval Combat Options
Japan and Germany take combined actions while Italy takes a land action.
Germany moves two subs to CSV 3-box.
Japan moved a CA through Canton and picked up a Mar-div and stopped in the 2-box of the Bismark Sea.
I will be initiating combat in the three possible zones (CSV, BoB, and W. Med). I suspect you will not fly any bombers/Navs to BoB and W. Med, but will likely fly something to CSV. Let me know what you would like to fly. I will start with the other two zones first.

JA41 i6: West Med.
Searches went the allies way big time (10/2).
Do you wish to engage or avoid. If engage, please provide instructions on zones to engage (the Bf-109, Freccia and CP are in the 0-box, everything else is in the 2-box).

JA41 i6: Naval Combat BoB
I assumed you would avoid, in the W. Med and continue. If you don't avoid, I'll go back and complete that combat.

In the BoB the German 6 pt fighter initiates the searches (the German fighter in W. Med 0-box, initiated those searches).
Rolls of 6/2 resulted in the CW finding 5 surprise points. Will you avoid here (this is even more likely than in the W. Med I suspect).

1. The CW chooses to avoid combat in both the Bay of Biscay and the West Med.

2. Also, I forgot to disorganize the two air units in those respective sea areas that attempted to initiate combat last impulse. I'll disorganize them and the two air units used this impulse when I get the turn back.

Do you want to fly the Skua or the Beaufort into the CSV, where the 2pt GE sub initiates combat?

Coward! Next time, with these searchrolls in the Western Med, you engage the enemy in the 0 box.

You've got 10 surprise points to reduce air-to-air combat on the Axis side to almost become very unattractive to them.
You could have killed of those 2 FTR's (or send them home). There are no Allied convoys or TRS in the Western Med too. And if one or the other Allied cruiser gets a hit next combat round, who cares...

They are expendable.

On the BOB decision, I agree.

Just to defend Ronnie a bit, there are 4 allied CPs in the 0-box.

JA41 i6: CSV rnd 1
The axis found on rolls of 2/9 and engaged the 0-box with 9 surprise points. 4 SP used to choose sub combat and 4 used to reduce allied ASW to ne. Destroyed one CP and aborted 3.

JA4 i6: CSV round 2
In round 2, the allies get the drop on the Germans on rolls of 10/3. You have 8 surprise points. How would you like to proceed?

"Damn the torpedos, full speed ahead."

Here my inexperience will show. I want to choose the option that maximizes results against the 2 German u-boats. I'm not sure which one is best:

(1) Choose a naval air battle (0 SPs) and use all 8 SPs to shift the attack column against the 2 German u-boats. -- or --

(2) Default to a surface battle (I think I can do that without spending any SPs) and use all 8 SPs to shift the attack column against the 2 German u-boats.

I want to choose the option that gives me the best chance of clearing the sea area of German u-boats and inflicting maximum damage (sinking them if possible). But main objective is choosing an option and using SPs that maximizes the chance of clearing out the 2 u-boat units.

If (2) achieves that then order for damage / aborts to the RN would be Devenshire (3-box), Edinburgh (3-box) and Liverpool (4-box).

Please return aborted CPs to Cisneros in the Spanish Sahara.

JA41 i 6: CSV rnd results
Based on your instructions I chose surface, it is one higher column than naval air.
The results were favorable to the allies, with both subs being sunk. Two CW CA's were aborted (misses saving an image of the Devenshire's and Edinburgh's die rolls).

Ground striking hex NW of Gibraltar with HE111. You can intercept with the CVP in the CSV. Will you?

JA41 i8:
Germany and Japan takes a combined. Italy takes a land.
No naval air or naval movements.
Initiated searches in the BoB (flew no CW bombers out).
Rolls favored the CW. I'm assuming you will avoid. If you'd like to take another action, let me know and I'll take care of it.

JA41 i8: W. Med
Round 1 we both find on rolls of 4 with allies getting 1 SP (useless). Italians make it a naval air and fly the fighter bombers as fighters.
As a learning point, I placed the Italian fighter in front because it is now going against a twin engine fighter so all of the Beau-fighters results will be one worse than otherwise (a AX becomes a DX, A DX becomes a AA ... and ne becomes a DA and so on.
I will attack on a lower column since my A-A values are one lower.

I finished one round of A-A in which an Italian bomber was cleared (the original AC was moved to a DC because of the twin engine fighter penalty).

Do you want to stay for another round of A-A?
