Just finished today's gaming session- just want to say that I have never seen this game so hard. I expect to post pics a little later on (have to run, hence this post) but be advised that I just joined the club if you have seen AI throw literally hundreds of ground battalions at multiple planetary invasions going at the same time. (Full disclosure: I do not mean a single AI invasion of hundreds of units at one drop, but hundreds over a few year's time). In this current game, I learned that 'space control' means having enough scores of battleships (read hundreds) blockading an invading planet in order to ensure that enemy battleships do not survive long enough to make their troop drops. This is what I felt like at the end of two hours play time today: (Hint: I am not the guy with the paddle).

The Imperial economy. During the current round of war to date, the Empire has lost 2 LSP, 7 SSP, 17 Defense Bases, 6 mining stations and 8 gas mining stations, and a few hundred ground battalions. Not to mention right at 200 warships lost so far. These losses are what is really causing me to lean towards taking out the Ancient Guardians so as to grab their economy (I am trying to hold off on that as long as possible though, regardless of how brutal this gets). No colonies have been lost while two major ones have been recovered from the Naxx and one major and one minor taken from them. There will be more about the incredible battles for Clotoa and Tefnyl later on.

Here is the current Imperial diplomatic situation. Notice that there has been a proliferation of new empires in recent years.

The Imperial colony list showing the addition of the new colonies taken from the Naxx recently. As a personal note: does anyone know what the Todash Galactic Championships are? My guesis that they are a Naxxilian thing since I am seeing this on a couple of the colonies I have taken from them. Or, mayhaps I missed the notification about this during the many recent battles?

Yes the todash game is a naxx thing. One year development bonus for all colonies and lower war weariness.

Well, turns out that it is almost as fun to just analyze the situation as it is to actually play the game. (Just one more reason posts are slowing down a bit). After approx. four years of letting the game run during the war, lots of things get disorganized- the need to reorganize things (on such a massive scale) has been the impetus behind me going for peace after a period of fighting before. Can we talk? With 35 fleets, moving hundreds of battalions attacking sometimes up to four targets at the same time (that I will actually manually manage) and letting everything else go on auto... it gets a bit much. The current battle plan is to set up for ground attacks against six Zenox colonies that the Naxx captured during the last war. The difference is that this time the Naxx are so weakened (both by the Empire's improved defenses as well as still fighting both the Core and the Tarapin) I will continue under war status for as long as some colonies will allow before they start to mutiny due to morale issues. Also, the Galactic distribution of certain resources has suddenly become more of a factor on deciding strategy. For instance, I am leaning more towards attacking the Ancient Guardians again because Utopia is the sole source of Loros Fruit. So...

During the course of reorganizing this time, I discovered some interesting details. For example: Trace Scanners allow one to track the evolution of enemy AI warship design, just one detail that can be very helpful.I noticed that one Naxx battleship had 9 boarding pods with a boarding strength of 2025, while my newest battleships have 8 pods and a strength of 1456. The significance of this should be obvious to anyone familiar with ground battle dynamics. My next post will be an in-depth analysis of some of the many new empires that have been appearing. But this time I can present these Galactic factoids:

As of 13 June 2425

* The Empire has collected 30,338,725 credits in total tourism income and has intercepted 32 espionage missions.

* The Ikkuro Confederacy has 6,196 ground battalions and has built 611 bases.

* The Daidalun Supremacy has been continuously at war for 68.2 years.

* The Paratis Conformity has conducted 136 successful espionage missions.

* The Core Axis has collected 20,023k in luxury resources mined, and has built 8,098 military ships!

* The Char Dilba Authority has 1,185,169,190 credits in total revenue, has destroyed 21,603 enemy ships and bases and has destroyed 23,763 ground battalions.

(Retreat, you were saying something about there being reasons for why the Core should not be so powerful... care to elaborate?).

The core have most of the major negatives: low pop growth, poor research speed, lower money bonus, no tourism, doesn't assimilate, average troop strength, rail guns (I don't see this as a negative, but some do). I think if you would have played them you would've been in trouble.

No one really knows the AI bonuses for difficulty, but on extreme I think even the weaker races could put up a fight.

Naxx invasion of Tefnyl 2. The reason there are so many Imperial troops on the ground here is because it was recently taken from the Naxx.

With the defeat at Volkhan Prime 2, and with losses to mining stations mounting and a growing inability to mount ground attacks and/or provide reinforcements where needed (due to mounting losses of battle transports)it is decided to take a break from the fighting yet again.

The Imperial economy: at the beginning of this round of war, there were 22 of each mining station, 24 small space ports and 122 defense bases. Once again there will be more redesign of ships and bases and another rethink of defense doctrine and offensive strategy. The Empire is at least making ground slowly in recovering lost colonies, but there is still room for improvement.
