Spain
Via diplomacy the Allies were successful moving Spain back 7% away from the Axis.

Canary Islands

Another unfortunate run in with an allied destroyer group, which was damaged to 1 strength.

North Atlantic

A UK Destroyer was sunk, our raiding group are pretty banged up and will have to return to port for repairs.

Canary Islands

A UK Light Cruiser was sunk just west of the Canary Islands, our raiding fleet likely is to remain in the Atlantic after taking minor damage only.

North Africa

An Italian Corps was destroyed, and heavy allied bombing raids continue to rain over Athens and Benghazi. The Italian 11th Army has arrived via transport at Benghazi. I am again finding myself lacking the firepower to sweep the Commonwealth forces back even with the presence of the Afrika Korps.

The Western Front

Though my attacking forces are not fully prepared, most of my Axis minors are yet to be upgraded and my air force still heavily burdened by the invasion of France I decide to attack as to not waste anymore of the good weather this year.

My main objective for Army Group North is too arrive at Leningrad as quickly as possible, to this end I have stationed my paratroopers and Calvary in the North to facilitate this objective.

Army Group Center will march to Minsk, Smolensk, and finally upon the Gates of Moscow. Germany will be supported by the Yugoslavian Army, who has just this turn stationed a purchased HQ in Belgrade for dispatch to the Eastern Front.

Army Group South will heed the most difficult objective to march all the way to the Don River, capturing industrial centers all along the way. Both Hungary and Romania, while still unprepared will support the German offensive.

June 1941:

Allied Declaration of War Against Spain

The Allies have opened a second front in Europe just as the Axis have begun to march across the USSR border! This is definitely a good/bad situation, as I had coveted Spanish entry into the war, but diverting forces from the Eastern Front is not something I want to do now as I try to capture as much ground as possible in the East. (Disclaimer: I have no idea how the UK will do here, as the % chance of both a Portuguese entry of war and the variable of UK declaring war on Spain are both very low in my mod. This is a first for me.)

Von Leeb (HQ) and Von Rundstedt (HQ) lead attack forces towards Riga and the fortified town of Daugavpils. In the Gulf of Riga a Russian Battleship and Light Cruiser were sunk.

Army Group Central is lead by Kesselring (HQ), Model (HQ) and Simovic (Yugoslavian HQ). We will mainly avoid the Pripyat Marshes and march for Minsk next turn.

Army Group South

The Southern attack force is led by Von Bock (HQ), Von Manstein (HQ), Von Khuchler (HQ) with support of our minors Hungary and Romania. A lack of MPP's has stretched our resources and many of the units in the south are still lacking our best weapons.

North Africa

The Italian Fleet ventured from the safety of her ports upon reports that a British Carrier was spotted in the Mediterranean, the ensuing battle saw the Carrier sunk as well as a British Heavy Cruiser. Further air raids discovered that a second Carrier has also arrived in the Mediterranean which could spell trouble for the Italian Fleet next turn.

Germany signed a Treaty of Friendship with Turkey via decision event, opening the door for future economic relationships.

USA

US Lend Lease to the UK Begins

Spain

I have not diverted any forces from the Eastern Front, nor can I afford the MPP for a mass operation on this turn, I rather opt to reinforce the Spanish forces who will go on the offensive to defend their homeland from the British invasion.

Eastern Front

The Axis capture the City of Riga in the North and Odessa in the South.

North Africa

The Afrika Corps was destroyed. Rommel is calling on Germany to send reinforcements.

Spain

Reinforced Spanish units are moved to the front lines to stop the British and Portuguese forces from occupying any father towns.

Atlantic

Many ships are back to port to refuel before raiding can ramp up again.

Mediterranean

The Allies have seemingly won the battle for the Mediterranean after the Italians lost all 3 of her Battleships. Though the British lost 2 Battleships, 1 Heavy Cruiser and 1 Carrier in the battle, the British still have some punch while the Italians do not.

Turkey

The USA has begun shipping military equipment to Turkey via lend lease

The Axis continue to make inroads into the USSR, no cities of note were captured this turn. In the South we continue to make the biggest push to capture former Russian Industry.

Rommel's HQ was destroyed, and the Axis are in full retreat. The Italians have regrouped momentarily at Benghazi, while the Germans have mostly pulled back to El Aghelia. The entire Greek Army, less a corps left to garrison Athens have been shipped to Tripoli to push the Allies back into Egypt. The Greeks are hardly in fighting shape upon arrival but should be ready to march by the end of August 1941.

Atlantic

The Gneisenau Heavy Cruiser was sunk attempting to return to the Bay of Biscay for refueling. An British Aircraft Carrier took a few pings from German submarines on way to the Atlantic in retaliation.

Switzerland

Allied diplomacy has shifted Switzerland from Axis leaning to Allied Leaning (1%).

Spain

Spanish forces have retaken the town of Salamanca pushing back and nearly destroying the occupying Portuguese Corps. As soon as we can get an idea of what type of invasion force we are facing I will have to decide if I will have to divert Germans from the Eastern Front.

The Italian HQ (Gariboldi) has retreated by sea to Tripoli leaving the Italian 11th Army to hold Tripoli and pray evacuation is possible next turn. Without HQ support the combined Axis forces at El Agheila are in poor supply.

Army Group South

Kiev has been captured and has reduced Russian Morale.

Finland

Finland has joined the Axis for war against USSR.

Spain

A Portuguese Corps was destroyed, and Spanish forces have crossed the Portuguese border near Porto. We find the British have massed a large number of infantry and could prove a formidable fighting force.

Switzerland

The Swiss have betrayed Germany, and with incentive from the UK have severed Axis relations and seized German gold. I have decided against the opportunity to declare war on Switzerland to recoup our plundered gold as there are is intensive fighting on more fronts that I would like and this would be another distraction.

The cost of our loss gold reserves. If I had declared war on Switzerland I could have had the opportunity to recoup the loss MPP.

I have been following along on this AAR (along with some others) to help me decide if I want to purchase this game or not.

I have to say I am dismayed that the CW AI just seems to punch out ground units like crazy at a time when their fortunes should not be so good. The force in Portugal is large obviously along with what they had in Egypt in a force capable of destroying not only a reinforced Italian force, but DAK as well.

Thanks for doing this AAR.

Don't feel too dismayed with the CW AI's capability as this is a revised version of the default campaign (a MOD). There are lots of going on's that are non-historical, although I try to ensure everything is plausible via gradual build up of events which can take a player down alternate history.

I also do give the AI it bit of extra punch in North Africa mainly to represent how underwhelming the Italians were historically, but mainly I think it may have been some poor play on my own that is resulting in a disaster in North Africa.

As a vet of the SC series, I would highly recommend purchasing the game. It is a 10+ year evolution of the series. As a result SC3 is certainly polished and has historically had a very high level of support from Bill and Hubert. You won't be disappointed.

Eastern Front

The Axis HQ's are lagging well behind our forces in the South. I simply have not been able to afford to upgrade their motorization as of yet. Luckily the Russian defensive positions have been very lean so I have been able to continue to thrust forward.

North Africa

The Italian 11th Army has evacuated Benghazi to Tripoli. The Allies will now turn their eyes to El Agehila.

Spain

The Italian Expeditionary Group (2 Corps, 1 HQ) has been redirected to southern Spain as British troops begin to march on Sevilla, just North of Gibraltar. Before I had only the 3rd Spanish Army defending the South.
