I'd propose we find one more. A referee. Maybe that George Kennedy guy? ( think the war games scene from the Dirty Dozen )
We should give the ref the keys to the game and the power to resolve disputes to ensure continuity.

We should set the project up to live on, if any one player retires a replacement is appointed. One of the 3 Generals could step up and assume supreme command, and I assume a waiting list would fill up to add players when needed, if we are successful.

Any wannabe George Kennedys out there?

One more question: Which game version? I suggest to do not use betas.

I appears a little bit risky to me to use a version still in developement. Would be a shame if we started all this and suddenly there is a bug which ruins the game. Just my two cents, maybe my fear is exaggerated.

Last beta mainly changed the way current turn losses are calculated and displayed. Also the feature about bombing was reverted because of reduced bombing efficiency. Maybe there is no need to worry.

We cant ask people to keep multiple installations of the game. We run on the latest version, beta or not

Ok I agree with you now.'
It would be good however to have a short talk before any future update if/when we switch to the latest versions.

I am ok with whichever version control we go with, is latest version beta or no the final decision?

On the point about manning the Finnish front could we amend the house rule to no Finnish attacks south of the line rather than no moves - it would still mean needing Lgrad to release the Finns, but provide the incentive for Soviet manning of the front.

I'd be just happy with normal rules for Finns.

I'd have to search for that scene - my memories are of him as comedic support.

I think its a nice idea, but would difficult to fill right now. I think we will still need to rely on good sense and commitment to fun on each side. It would be difficult to recruit someone just for that role - and if the need ever arose we could ask someone to adjudicate then. You mentioned elsewhere they could write an AAR - which would be interesting. The wargaming equivalent of a sports commentator! But at the moment I think the person who would be committed to the idea and knows how it could work is you. But the fatherland needs you more

I am easy either way, but I guess so many are on 1.10 we have to go with that. We can continue with 3 Axis players, and perhaps in the long distant future if your current game finished or is upgraded you could rejoin us?

If your able, install a second game folder with 110. I did this for a 109 game in process. 110 is the way to go.

change the destination folder ( I used the second drive on my comp to avoid confusion ) and apply 110. you can rename the desktop shortcuts to avoid confusion and can then play both versions.

Have to remember that 1.10.0 includes also 1.09.2 hotfix with quite a few bug fixes...so it is not useless upgrade.

Well, that we were going to play on the version that most people play, which also is the latest version, seems like a no-brainer to be honest.

Rick

You still be very welcome to join us in future, it is a long game and our upgrade paths will at times coincide

Guys

The Axis will keep recruiting and we will try to get others in as the game progresses. Perhaps we can advertise it in our signatures? But the Axis are good to go as a threesome. Shonyu's profile indicates they have not logged in since the beginning of the month, and only posts in bursts with long gaps in between. It may be that Shonyu gave up waiting for us and is not aware that we are progressing. Is it worth emailing Shonyu? Shonyu's profile also has an ICQ address. We can also start the Axis turn 1 and conduct it at leisure before Shonyu gets back to us.

I emailed Shonyu. I hope he replies soon so we can begin. Maybe somebody can contact him with ICQ, i have never heard of it before (nor used this).
A little bit internet/forum addition is required for all participants :-)
PS: Are soviets allowed to enter the axis thread to spread propaganda until the game begins

Well the Axis command staffs have received their Enigmas. As we all know those code machines are completely unbreakable, so our communications will be gobbledygook to you. So I think we can temporarily relax our foreign media restrictions. Our political officers, who definitely do not exist, nevertheless stress the importance of countering the foul vicious lies of the enemy.

Now that really betrays your age (cc: intelligence staff - compromat material)
When pictures was writing, smartphones were PCs, and facebook was myspace or friendster, whatsapp was ICQ.
