Now that is Old Skool!

Quick question on houserule "4. No unit may deliberately move forward into isolated status (defined as being more than 99 MPs from a railhead). Units that are isolated due to being surrounded may only move towards supply. The only exception to this rule is air-landed units which may move in any way."

Is the common sense interpretation this applies only in clear weather and disregards partisan attacks? Taken literally it would mean no forward movement after a partisan attack or weather change. It could also be interpreted to mean no retreat either, whole armies frozen. I can understand the point about no Lgrad falling on turn 6 and a broad front strategy for a multiplayer game. But surely it was not meant to power up the effects of weather and partisans.

I'd think partisans particularly could be disregarded in this context.

Ok, the game is now in the "communications with Germany"-folder in the dropbox.

Exactly, not with units just terrain, city names etc. I downloaded one from here a while ago and have used it as a master copy for all those plans etc. Then lost it today. And just cannot find where in the forums it came from.

When the Soviet Union is defeated in the war that is not about to start we will remember who our friends were.

If there is any more detailed cartography, say, around Lgrad, Moscow, Sgrad, or geological maps showing ground able to bear, say, 30 tonne vehicles - they would also be remembered. Purely for scientific curiosity of course.

The peace loving people of the Soviet union have no need for 30t vehicles, therefore no maps. But here is a very detailed map collection of the Soviet railway system: http://www.soldat.ru/files/4/10/137/ (very interesting site, with detailed rail maps, alsow shows where the railway is single/double/tripletracked).

PH, Suggest you update the thread every so often by asking interested players to sign up as reserves. You'll almost certainly need them on one if not both sides before you're through.

Good idea. I was thinking about asking the Krauts to find a replacement for the missing player

Done and ongoing. On a regular basis I will make a post on it when no one else has. Personally I will go more for the angle of someone who is interested in non-AI games but apprehensive taking on a whole one on their own. Or deputies or smaller commands like the Finns with a view to getting people in so they then get more involved. I was also going to ask if you could put it in your sigs?

No news from Shonyu, not online since early march and no replies to email etc.
How is the current state of affairs? Have you (Axis Players) begun with your turn 1?

Ended turn 1 except for hitting the end turn button- just chatting about settings that can be adjusted. I guess there is no urgency from Soviets. From Shonyu's posts it looks like Shonyu only logs in between long gaps, and may have assumed by early March this team game was not happening? I guess also no one else here has ICQ anymore, or knows what it is

[Just checked Wikipedia to see if I have an IM client that can access ICQ - sadly not. But interestingly it said AOL had sold ICQ to a Russian company and may now be open to Russian intelligence.]

No stress, take your time.

Only foreigners call us Russians. But nations are not important in the Soviet Union. There are only members of the proletariat and capitalists.
If you are a worker or peasent, the soviet KGB will not read your ICQ (whatever this is ) messages. If you are an evil capitalist, you should probably use other services.

Somebody should try whether Shonyu reacts to Punchcards or carrier pigeons

It's War!

On the 18th of June a Soviet border guard crossed into our territory, clearly the vanguard of a Soviet invasion. The Axis powers have discussed a moderate proportionate and calculated response to this Soviet agression - and decided on a multi-million man counter invasion of the Soviet Union.

Turn end file in Soviet dropbox (communications with Germany folder) - and no Soviets in our AAR.

For some reason I assumed Shonyu is on your side, playing an army group.
Well, we should indeed send the NKVD to look for him.
So there seems to be space for another soviet player. Will you overetake Shonyus place for the time being Hortlund?

Ah. We thought we were the guys pushing ahead while Soviets were still stuck.

For others visiting this thread - if you are bored with playing the AI but daunted by taking on the commitment of a whole campaign yourself why not join us? There are vacancies in Axis and now in the Soviet team too.

Never has someones arrival been more anticipated, or perfectly timed. Stalin pretends not to notice but makes a mental note.

Even wargamers have real lives so no worries. I think the Soviets literally arrived at the point that it was your turn!

Glad to see you Shonyu!
