I bet Tracker is telling you that you need 160 of just about everything right now.

None of my actions are successful. No Soviets ships home to intercept; No LRCAP intercept of Soviet bombers.

Allies bomb Djambi again, Harbin at night, Soviet Armor punishes a division plus in the pocket on the border, and Dutch reinforce Ternate by air.

Well, it could be worse. Downed a 4E beastie today.

Soviet High Command also picks Kirin for another parachute attack...this by the 1st Parachute Battalion. However, elements of the 1st Tank Division are assembling here and they quickly round up the Soviets.

Despite having field AA units at both bases, only 2 transports are shot down, although quite a few are damaged.

How many AA guns?

Petes! A great plane...and my staple night fighter till Irving comes around, and even after.

Tell me this not gamey...it has what, a swiveled 7.7 mg from the observer's seat?

But, well, maybe out of desperation!!

Ok, here is how it isn't gamey:

This game is an abstraction. The primary purpose of the Pete, which is slow and can't climb, can't shoot down anything, is to spot blackout violaters, radio that back to the runway who dispatches troopers to enforce blackout regulation thus reducing the effectiveness of Allied night bombing.

Every now and then a Pete might blunder too close to an Allied bomber and get shot down, but in general that is not their purpose.

How is that?

57th Field AA, 18 75mm Guns and 2 searchlights. I don't have nearly enough AA to put more than one unit in most places.

Since the Soviets only dropped 2 squads and 2 guns, and lost only 2 transports (over two different invasions), this was a piddling paratroop drop - this tactic is usually HR'ed against. But I don't care and it doesn't bother me. There are in game counters to everything in the game.

except 4E's at 2000ft at night ... I've never really been able to come up with anything to stop that really.
Sure, with enough AA I can get a few 4E's, but the target is completely nuked.

That is a tricky one...keeping everything important out of range of the B29 until the 9/45 40mm AA gun arrives.

Feb 7, 1942

Singers is bombarded again, and again mines are pretty heavy.

Lots of action all across the map, and somehow I had a lone xak (8 vp) merchant out by itself and she was promptly sunk.

Soviets spot my Siberian railroad cutting force and promptly bomb them. AA is on the way, but I am really stretched for AA, well for everything.

Those Lightnings are causing me all kinds of grief....good riddance to them.

My great cap trap over Manchuko. Pretty sad. But it is the best I can do.

But, you eat an elephant one bite at a time, and that is my approach to the never replenishing Soviet air force.

I have such a desperate need for Zeroes and Oscars Ic...but I make 5-6 per day total. A6M3 will arrive in large numbers (I built a size 250 r&d facility) along with Nicks in April or May. Till then the air war is decidedly in the Soviets favor.

Soviet air force is just bombing be into the middle ages everywhere here...

Only the Kitakami and 4 DD and 1 TB are present near eastern Honshu and Hokkaido. I need heavy Cruisers and Battleships to pound these Soviet positions but they simply aren't here for a few more days, and then in limited numbers because of all the damaged ships.

These are dark days, my friends, very dark. But it will get better I think.

Allied Carriers are sticking around. Warspite I believe is headed back for repairs, but will have run an Iboat gauntlet to get into port.

This screenshot gives me hope.

Another turn sent, and will see my first offensive sweep of the Soviets. Moving, moving and planning. I need everything!

In a dozen days I get a mess of Naval Guards...and on the morrow a big attack at Yenki! Oh boy, it could go terribly wrong.

Feb 8, 1942

Mudken bombed at night, and despite some AA and 1 squadron of Nates flying CAP, it is pretty effective.

Starting fires and knocking out a dozen resources. During the day Djambi and Palembang are bombed by 4E beasts. Damage is minimal but really is grinding my fighter strength into the ground.

Sovies attack at four spots...Rashin is in trouble and might not make it until reinforcement arrive. The Manchuko troops have a whopping 25 experience. But help is on the way if we can survive the entire might of the Soviet air force tomorrow.

Rashin ends up being a 1-1 attack, but the Soviets don't miss 2-1 by much.

Forts reduced to 0.

An 8-1 attack and Sakhalin is now in Soviet hands.

Losses in trying to defend Sakhalin have been staggering. 3 Army fighter squadrons, PP to switch the base so I could fly troops in, all gone. Soviet air force rules the skies. Now Toyahara will get heavy reinforcements, and I have to scrub troops assigned to safeguard Sakhalin and await more forces and different targets.

Finished the turn, and we will be launching a large air raid designed to devastate Sian and remove all the industry there. Pretty sad, when you think about it.

Invading a few islands in the SRA, probably take Magwe, but I fear Allied air power on it. I will have 4 AA units there, but only Nates for defense.

I hope Rashin holds, but Soviet bombers will probably doom it.

These are dark days, indeed.

Don't apologize, nothing I don't know.

By May, I will start producing some fighters and perhaps even might start some in April. But, that is a lot of economic pounding by the combined Allied Air Force. Who knows how far the Soviets can advance by then? I figure the majority of Korea's industry will be destroyed by then. The Soviets don't have to advance very far at all to be able to hit Port Arthur, and quite frankly I can't defend it aerially from night bombing.

Below is the night attacks at Mudken by the nasty DB-3M (range 11 normal, 13 extended) and when combined with the DB-3T there are close to 200 of them. If the Soviets continue to use them as a night bombing force, they will lose very few. So far I have managed to destroy 3, 2 to ops and 1 to flak.

Anything 7 hexes from the Soviets will be destroyed as I can't compete, except for one off CAP traps, and very weak CAP traps at that.

I guess at some point I will be able to shore bombard the coastal runways, but the fuel drain of the constant bombardments I will need will be staggering.

The attack below left some fires and destroyed 12 resources.
